Thanks Alex...Just a word from an old guy with no enamel left on his teeth...If you drink massive amounts of orange juice, as have I over many years. Always drink it using a straw.

My dentist years ago told me to take 3,000mg of C a day. I was a heavy smoker then, and smoking helps to deplete Vitamin C. This a cause to my receding gums. This vitamin does not naturally stay in the body. You urinate it out, sweat it out as well.

Nonsens. there's no studies that proves that vitamin C can cure a cold. Of course it's an important vitamin, but most of these stories are from people who sell the vitamins.

Agnes. Thank you, star and all...My suggestion was well intended and hopefully will be an eye opener for all. Whilst siting in a dentists waiting room I read a pamphlet supplied by a toothpaste manufacturer about saving tooth enamel...Top of the list (too late for me but not too late for you?) was only drink OJ through a straw and if you use an asthma inhaler, rinse your mouth after every use. I was amazed that no-one had told me this before. I now have a draw full of of straws, no enamel and my chemist now labels asthma inhalers (of the powder type, Seretide etc) with a label 'rinse mouth with water after use'... I hope your chemist/dentist is better informed than mine.

My mother used to make orange aid in the summer, for the family, when we were growing up, and fresh orange juice in the morning. Lemons and limes are wonderful in salads. Thank you for posting this information.

Thank you for the post, I'm trying to figure out how much vitamin C to eat to allow the best absorption of the iron I capsule I take.
