We need every single member of Congress to hear from their constituents. Tell them you are sick and tired of these conversations about how much to cut from our earned benefits, tell them now is the time to expand Social Security.

More info that may be of interest:
In 1989 the percentage of people at risk was 30%. Now, that figure is 53%.
In 1975 50% of workers had pensions. Now, that figure is 20%.

Signed and shared. People can not live on the paltry sum of the Social Security checks. They must be increased. Thanks Bob.

I'm glad to see this subject getting more media coverage. I had placed an article on about this early on when the topic was still in full force of cutting, people were crying no keep it as it is, but Bernie Sanders and a few others took the lead and said it needs to do better, expand it. I couldn't of agreed more and ran with the posting so yes, I most certainly signed this.

We THE PEOPLE pay into it all of our working lives, We The People OWN Social Security, NOT CONGRESS!! It is the JOB OF CONGRESS to support SS and to make it better, not worse. Small tweaks are all that is needed to keep it healthy. Like RAISING the limit on incomes of the rich that are subject to SS Taxes. The cap on taxable income needs to be MUCH higher. We spend more on military hardware than the next FOUR countries! Something is wrong with this picture. The Shell Game run by our congress MUST STOP.

Prez Johnson "borrowed" from Social Security to help fund the Vietnam War and it's been an easy stash to raid ever since. Happily noted and signed ~ thank you Robert!

Signed. This is important because of the amount of seniors who get most of their living money from Social Security and not reduce it would devastate them.

Borrowing from and diminishing the amount of Social Security should *never* be an option! In fact, it should be illegal! I speak as someone not yet eligible for those benefits, but who sees the dangers in cutting them--the slippery slope leading to the destruction of the Social Security Act entirely, (Which I suspect is what many Republicans are not-so-secretly hoping to happen.)

Im still shocked that Obama is willing to do this..why isnt HE demanding cuts to the rich, stopping corporate welfare, tax loopholes, etc etc etc..I get he needs to compromise, but this is disgusting
