Health & Wellness  (tags: investigation, safety, warning, I am very concerned about the risks gene )

After denying requests for an extension to the short comment period given for the proposed rules, USDA's comment period closes on Monday. Sign our petition to the USDA today and demand stronger--not weaker--regulations for genetically engineered crops!

GE Sugar? Not So Sweet

This Valentine's Day tell Hershey's, Mars and American Crystal Sugar to keep our sweets GE-free - and say no to genetically engineered sugar beets!

Tell Food Companies You Won't Eat Food From Cloned Animals!

FDA approved the introduction of milk and meat from cloned animals and their offspring in our food in January. Additionally, FDA failed to require labeling of any kind, deprining us of our right to know how our food is produced. Sign the clone-free pledge!

Following Pennsylvania's lead, Ohio debates restricting rBGH-free labeling

Contact Governor Strickland and the Ohio Dairy Division to let them know Ohio should not take away consumers' right to know about how their dairy products are produced!

Pennsylvania Restricts rBGH-Free Labeling

Contact Governor Rendell to let him know Pennsylvania should not take away consumers' right to know about how their dairy products are produced! Since Pennsylvania has passed this ban on rBGH-free labeling, several states appear to be following suit - don't let your state be next!

Contact your Senators and urge them to support labeling of food from cloned animals

In response to FDA's December announcement that they will likely approve milk and meat from cloned animals for food production, U.S. Senator Barbara Mikulski (D-MD) has introduced the Cloned Food Labeling Act. This act would require any foods contaning products from cloned animals or their offspring be labeled as such.

Stop the Approval of Genetically Engineered Fish!

The Food and Drug Administration has made the informal decision to regulate transgenic fish under its authority to review new animal drugs. Given the potential toxicity, allergenicity, and aquaculture diseases posed by the commercialization of transgenic fish, CFS is demanding that the FDA adopt a pre-market regulatory review that does not ignore these potential human health safety concerns.

I've participated in CFS actions even though I'm mostly organic and don't consume much conventional food... especially avoid junk food.
