I would like to quote Tagore's poem here.. translated to English

Where The Mind is Without Fear

WHERE the mind is without fear and the head is held high
Where knowledge is free
Where the world has not been broken up into fragments
By narrow domestic walls
Where words come out from the depth of truth
Where tireless striving stretches its arms towards perfection
Where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way
Into the dreary desert sand of dead habit
Where the mind is led forward by thee
Into ever-widening thought and action
Into that heaven of freedom, my Father, let my country awake.
~ Rabindranath Tagore

Thank you Zen for all you did!!!!
What's happens now is unbelievable and unacceptable.
But we will not forget you and we will tell this story over and over again , so long as possible........
There s a proverb. Pride will always falls down. We wait......

Still I Rise

You may write me down in history
With your bitter, twisted lies,
You may tread me in the very dirt
But still, like dust, I'll rise.

Does my sassiness upset you?
Why are you beset with gloom?
'Cause I walk like I've got oil wells
Pumping in my living room.

Just like moons and like suns,
With the certainty of tides,
Just like hopes springing high,
Still I'll rise.

Did you want to see me broken?
Bowed head and lowered eyes?
Shoulders falling down like teardrops.
Weakened by my soulful cries.

Does my haughtiness offend you?
Don't you take it awful hard
'Cause I laugh like I've got gold mines
Diggin' in my own back yard.

You may shoot me with your words,
You may cut me with your eyes,
You may kill me with your hatefulness,
But still, like air, I'll rise.

Does my sexiness upset you?
Does it come as a surprise
That I dance like I've got diamonds
At the meeting of my thighs?

Out of the huts of history's shame
I rise
Up from a past that's rooted in pain
I rise
I'm a black ocean, leaping and wide,
Welling and swelling I bear in the tide.
Leaving behind nights of terror and fear
I rise
Into a daybreak that's wondrously clear
I rise
Bringing the gifts that my ancestors gave,
I am the dream and the hope of the slave.
I rise
I rise
I rise.
Maya Angelou

We are all more than what the members on C2 know of us. We each hold a little spot within C2, but we are all a lot more than that. We have our history of all we've done before coming to C2, and Zen is no different. Many of us are on C2 now as our years are growing, the legs are tired, the body has seen it's wear, but we are all still alive; we have the history of our Walk and we are all still doing the best we can to contribute back to this Earth Walk the best we can, from the state and condition we find our bodies in. Bodies that have seen all the various battles in many lands........for we are not solely from one Country on here.

One day those who hold youth will also, if they continue their Earth Walk through the winters, will find they too will be at the north gate, their hair turning white or is white as snow, but they will realize that despite lost vigor of their bodies they still have a lot to offer.........and to teach those who are younger. This is a sad fact that has been lost in our societies for the push of all that glitters gold fails to see that the true blessings is in the hearts of it's older members of society. That once you stand on this hill of age one looks back upon all with a different view.

So I thank Zen for all she did for the C2 Community, which was most helpful to many who were on here, and it is a sad day, that one who offered so much to any who asked for help was so dealt with in such a manner as to fail to see the bountiful of contributions but would rather eliminate all record and history of a woman who not on on C2 but in her off C2 life has contributed a lot. The youthful sword has slain the heart of an older one but it is the same disrespect I see in the broader area of life. Those who are children, Elders, disabled, women are tossed aside in this Patriarchal suicide that they have this world heading into.

My words will not end in despair for there is a saying, "A people are not defeated until the hearts of its women are on the ground." Cheyenne. Although Zen's heart may be at a low place right now, I'm most assured when she has recovered, she will be able to place her time, talents, and energies into another place, and those who will gain by this will be all the better for it. Thank you Zen, you were part of making mine and others experience on C2 a better place, it's unfortunate that was lost on some.

And Zen too will Rise as the First Nations Grandmother rose up to start Idle No More, as the 85 year old Nun did in the USA to stand against Nuclear Energy and it's devastation it causes both environmentally and for the making of weapons, just as Margaretta D’Arcy, the 79-year old feminist, peace activist in Ireland has done, we women, despite our age, health, and circumstance, do not yet have our Hearts on the ground.

But when or if we ever do men, it's all over for you too, for it was out of a Mother that all of us started and that includes all that IS, WAS, or ever will be from this world. All came forth from a Being called Earth that is Mother. That dominating male energies fail to see that, that the majority of people who use C2 are also female and are educated.

Yes, Zen will Rise again. Not here, but she will Rise.

If I had realised this group existed - I'd have joined in a heartbeat... you are a gem who contributed so much with so many groups Zen, Obviously, a big part of your life was spent here helping others. I am so sad that this site doesn't see your many contributions and personal comittment as exemplary... I have lost faith in the people here that would treat somone in so cruel a manner.

A truth - he who does not live by his words is a hypocrite. The deeds one comits during a life time are the measure of that life. You my dear Zen, will always be able to hold your head high!

ZEN, I LEARNED SO MUCH FROM YOU. WHEN I HAD TROUBLES AND NEEDED HELP YOU PROVIDED ADVISE. WITHOUT YOUR HELP, I WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO GET THE PROBLEMS SOLVED. YOUR GROUP WAS SO VALUABLE AND YOU HELPED SO MANY PEOPLE, I CAN NOT THANK YOU ENOUGH. Ah - yes it did make the front page didn't it. Thanks for that Krish... I didn't read the thread properly it seems... It's great its getting lots of hits to say thanks to Zen (and to you for posting this). How long it will remain in tact here? Who knows.

Yes Angelika - this has left me feeling very low too... my health is OK, but my psyche has taken a real knock. It makes me feel like I can't really make a difference here... and I know people who have signed their support on the petition but do not appear here because they will no longer come to this site. It is a very sad state of affairs!

On the bright side... those who know Zen will know that where there is a will - there will be a way forward!

Thank you, Krish, for giving us the opportunity to thank Zen for all she did to help us. I wish Care2 would give her another chance. We all deserve another chance. Thank you, Zen for all you did to help us to learn to use this site and even our computers. You are a wealth of knowledge and wherever you decide to go will be their gain and our loss. We will keep in touch. Take care and bless you for all your tireless help. This is undoubtedly the saddest comment I have had to write on this site.

Thank you for all you have done, dear Zen. Without your kind assistance I would have left this site years ago. As a lot of us know, not everyone on this site is as gracious with their help and time as Zen. Some people are downright nasty, talk crap instead of contributing anything worthwhile or useful to others. You can still find this latter type of people all over the various group threads. They stay while Zen gets banned. That is far from democratic, and leaves a very bad aftertaste.

Thank you Krish for posting this tribute to Zen, very nice and caring ; ) I did not know Zen only that I had just met her as she sent me a green star and I tried to send her one back the next day and her 'profile was not able to be found'. I thought that quite odd at the time but chalked it up to glitches which sometimes happen here. The following day I tried again to find her as I had went to her profile page the day I received the star from her. There was something I felt when I read through her page that I was drawn to and felt I needed to get to know her. I got the feeling she was a special person. Alas I could not do that but from all the kind words people have had for her I know in my heart that must be true. Namaste.

I wish Zen, the peace her name invokes,I know anyone who is lucky enough to have her in real life should feel so.

I will miss her selfless help, and friendship

I feel still shaken for what happened. I cannot make a sense of this. Just one question in my mind: Why??? Thank you so very much, Zen, for all you did for so many people here. You'll be dearly missed by many. There will never be another Zen. Bitterness is overwhelming me. I still cannot understand. I definitely must have missed something. Have I misunderstood? Have I been too naive? I still keep wondering why.

I've just noted this... seeing as it is already on the front page anyway, so what the heck - it will reach people who will want to thank Zen and that is important.

I am moved by all the sentiments here and it is wonderful to see so many who would stand with Zen.

I have also learned that Zen is completely devastated by the final insult - her complete removal from this site so she cannot even see any of her own personal shares. This smacks of something a lot more than Censorship and as Zen has now stated that she's given up, I'm really upset by those bullies who have pushed her into total defeat. I hope they read this and feel ashamed of their behaviour.

Zen - you can continue to hold your head high. You have the highest integrety of anyone I know.

I miss you ZEN and hope we will run into each other another time. I do wish you the best in what ever you choose to do. You helped so many people here, at a time Care2 didn't have the people or time to answer questions and your group really filled in a gap. Be Well!

Total shame ....You are still with us all ZEN and good luck and much happiness to you as you find new avenues for helping others ..help themselves. Some sites move forward while others slowly fall apart...those who value their readers/users stand the better chance of moving forward. .those who do not....put a huge question mark over theirs as to how much longer they will survive ........I do hope care2 is one that will make it long term..for decades to come but at this time...question marks are hovering overhead...and that too is a real shame.

I will say this, this is a company not an org. so really we don't own anything here, including our personal info
But if you stay for the animals or the planet, do not hate this place
forgive it,not because they deserve it, but so that it won't toxify your own hearts
that's what I do when people disappoint me, I don't forgive them for them, i do it to save my own heart

thanks for the forward, Barbara. the original message I was sent really says it all. c2 allows some of the most hateful, petty people to continue posting their nonsense, but they get rid of a true contributor over what I gather is policy violations which could probably be resolved if c2 was specific in their reprimands.

All my Love and Respect to you, Kirsh. Thank you my Dearest Dandelion for your submission for one of the most Loved and Revered women of a Sacred Nature that I've ever met. I't a very sad day to read the finality of Zen's offerings, Heart Felt, with only Love in her Heart at her never ending contributions to make C-2 work more cohesively. I had the Great Fortune to know Zen personally, and her Huge Kind Heart Healed me on more then one occasion, with her words of Wisdom and unconditional LOVE. Not only did she go to extreme lengths to finally get my profile up and running two years ago when C-2 failed, she sent me her unconditional LOVE and Wisdom and Friendship through my very long medical recovery. My precious Zen taught me more than I can put to words over the many many years, and although I knew she WAS DONE with C-2, she has my Blessings. The disrespect she has encountered over the years is unforgivable, and although I haven't even made a dent in the contributions she made I have lost all my desires to continue. I Love you Zen, I have from the moment I met you so many years ago. Walk in Beauty my Friend...Walk in Beauty.

Zen, you are a remarkable woman. You have done so much for so many. It is difficult to know what to say at a time like this. I am happy that so many of us have moved on and bonded on FB. It seems like a much more enjoyable place to share and socialize without all the big brother B.S. that we have found here. This site has really shot themselves in their own foot with this foolish and bad behavior. They may still have members but they certainly don't have their respect or admiration as they once did. You did a lot while you were here to help us and in your leaving you have done a lot to unite us all. Care2 if you are reading this, please know and understand how ashamed you should be for your unfair behavior and for your bullying ways. You are no different then a common street thug. Shameful behavior. You have handled this fiasco quite poorly. Like a bunch of spoiled school children stamping their feet. Zen I will be seeing much more of you now on FB. We love you and respect you for the wonderful human being you are. Go in peace knowing you are loved by many. Thanks for all the help that we received from you after we had written to the website for help and received no response.

I did not know Zen, but do know that she is sadly missed by MANY! In fact, TOO MANY TO EVEN MENTION! She did GREAT WORK HERE AND WHY THIS HAPPENED IS BEYOND REASON! It doesn't make sense, not to me, and I didn't even know her. How can it make sense to the people who knew and loved her? VERY SAD THIS HAPPENED! SOMETHING ISN'T RIGHT, HASN'T BEEN FOR A VERY LONG TIME AND WON'T BE AS LONG AS THIS KEEPS HAPPENING! DICTATORSHIP DOESN'T BELONG IN OUR AMERICA AND CERTAINLY NOT IN CARE2!

Col. N's comment. Care2 administrators or whoever, you have not listened to the people that make up this site and help your profits!
I find it immoral and unethical, not to mention irresponsible to add insult to injury by removing Zen's page - how much lower will Care2 sink?
Here is my open statement. I never once received a reply from Care 2. What does that say about how things are managed?
Many people have come with openness and real caring, and devoted so much of their time.
We are not here to enable what is base and despicable.

Thank you for posting this tribute to Zen ! I did know her, and she was a person of great integrity and went out of her way to help so many here, including myself. This is the first time i have posted on a news post since she was booted out and censored, and all the posts to express ourselves were censored. That should tell you my feelings about the whole ugly affair. See you around Zen ~ i'm so happy to connect with you elsewhere. No one network is surely the end all be all. and thank the stars for that ! xoxoxox

PLEASE let this thread stand. It is meant as a tribute and a place for people to voice their sentiments.

The feelings expressed here are for Zen . . . not management. (Let her, at least, have that.)

Please do not jeopardize its continuation by giving the PTB an excuse to remove it by inserting vitriol.

(Just my own thoughts. I'm tired of witnessing so many deletions after people have taken the time to express themselves in earnest.)

I am still in shock about this whole mess. The internet, with all of its' fantastic ways to open up communication across the globe, has also given rise to a new phenomenon ... one of being able to completely wipe someone out as if they never existed and, seemingly, without remorse ... no explanations to those left wondering what happened to someone who once was a friend, and no thought whatsoever as to the devastating effect that such actions have on the person who was eliminated with a simple click of the "delete" or "block" or "suspend" button.

Over a misunderstanding, someone's existence at this site has been completely wiped out, as if the person never existed here at Care2. As Sheryl stated, many here are in the downhill portion of the walk of life. We hope to be given a little respect, if for no other reason than the fact that we have made it on this Earth this long. We would hope that younger generations would realize that our ways of seeing things differ from theirs and our ways of dealing with things also differ. Younger generations seem to look upon elders as if they are nothing more than a burden to society with nothing to contribute, and if they aren't nice and easy to get along with, just get rid of them. Elders live in fear every day in this country of how they will be treated by younger generations. This is wrong. But "respect your elders" appear to be words of the past.

To be totally dismissed as not having contributed anything useful here by Care2 management is not only very unfair, it is cruel. I once was blocked from a group I started here. Not for doing anything horrible. And I wasn't given an opportunity to tell anyone at the group goodbye, or what happened, or anything. I was just blocked. Not warned. Nothing. While it wasn't Care2 management who blocked me, it was a person who I trusted and thought was a friend. All because the person didn't want to listen. All because the person didn't want to work anything out. That, apparently, was too much trouble. Much easier to just hit "block" and go on about your life. What that did to me was DEVASTATING. I had worked to develop the group and it was like a second home to me. And I offer this information for one reason. Zen, I totally understand what has happened to you because of this ordeal. I understand the feeling of great loss you feel. I am so sorry that things happened the way they did. And I still just can't understand why we have to say goodbye to you here at Care2.

On the internet, people don't have to "listen" to your side of the story. They just "block" you. They "suspend" you from their site. For what? Blatant racism? Failure to be courteous? Failure to contribute to the cause of the site? No, it appears that we can get blocked at this site for saying something people who work here do not like. And I say "appears" because none of us knows both sides, because Care2 management will not tell us what it is that WE could also get suspended for. Maybe I will be suspended because I have said these words here. I don't know. And so, when I type my opinions at this site, am I now to be careful not to offend the management? If I say that their help services are really bad because that has been my experience, will I get deleted from the site? I don't know. People should be entitled to express their opinions on a site such as this without fear of reprimand. Are we?

In "real" life, adults don't handle problems with people by sticking their fingers in their ears while saying out loud "blah, blah, blah". They don't throw tantrums or simply refuse to answer questions with a smug, "not going to tell you". But I can't help but wonder if this new internet "life", which appears to be the wave of the future, will be a life where people will no longer have to learn to "get along". They will just hit "delete" or "block" or walk away (leave the site) because they can't get along. Diplomacy in this new world? Will there be any?

No more having to deal with people in a way that is fair, no more having to see the results of your actions to a person's well being. Talking to someone face to face allows us to see how our words are affecting someone. If we say things that are hurtful, we see the other person's reaction. Using a keyboard doesn't allow for that. So we can say things and do things that hurt someone, without ever having to see the consequences of what we have done to them. That is not a good direction for this world to go. But the younger generations, the ones who never really had to develop good face to face societal skills because they have always had the internet, do not seem to realize where they are taking our society.

I can see a site like this using a temporary suspension for someone who blatantly disregards terms of service, or someone who is always being flagged for inappropriate comments. But not Zen. Personally, I think this site has lost one of the best members it ever had, Zen, and probably ever will have.

It is not too late for this to be turned around. Drop ego. Discuss what could happen in the future in order for any problems to be resolved before they get someone angry enough to delete and permanently block a member. I am very sad about this site losing Zen. It takes something from the site to know that they would permanently block someone with a heart as large as hers. Makes me wonder what this site "really" is all about.

Thank you Sheryl, for giving us a place to voice our sadness at the loss of one of our best members here, and say thanks to Zen for everything she did while here and that she will do in the future. I will miss your presence here greatly, Zen, but join you in a different arena.

This thread was read like the others. Deleting Zen's page was malicious. It was clear people were sending and receiving stars.

Thanks to everyone for their heartfelt words and thank you Dandelion and Deb E. for taking the time to write your thoughtful comments.

I knew Zen a very short time and didn't even get around to ask for her help. But I've participated a short while in Oasis and have read so many of her answers to others - she is simply a beautiful person. I fully understand and respect that she is done with Care2! I know that she will find another place where she as a person as well her work will be appreciated rather than "deleted" simply because someone throws a temper tantrum ... rather than has the ability to overcome his own shortcomings.

Eric, I do hope that you read my comment. If you then prefer to delete me too - so be it. After Jytte's well thought and elaborate proposal as to how to solve the situation and more so after you seemingly agreeing with it … it is simply not to be understood what happened afterwards. It has the terrible stench of “corrupted by power”. To me it seems like you couldn’t take the look into the mirror – but is this really Zen’s fault? I don’t think so. How many times did I contact C2 – how many time did I and others put in a “cry for help” in the comment sections? The answer was always the same: thundering silence from C2. Zen has repeatedly said the same simple truth. That is reason to delete her and her great contribution to C2?! Why not look inside and change what’s so obviously wrong or accept the help offered? As I said in my personal email to you: “It’s not that hard to hold out your hand, and it’s not that hard for another person to shake it.”

As the old saying goes: Characterize people by their actions and you will never be fooled by their words!

Eric, I believed you when you said that you’ll try to resolve the situation – I didn’t know that for you resolving = deleting. So sad and disappointing.

To me it seems more and more that C2 is another place where we, the people, are kept busy with all kind of things in order not to disturb bigger events. And if one speaks the truth ... he/she’s gone within a click. Something to think about.

Zen, if you can read these comments: know that you’ll not be forgotten. Not what you have contributed and done for C2 ... and not what C2 has done to you!

Stay all safe!

Very nicely stated Deb and written with Heart. I hope that others will learn by what you stated. We grew up in a different world, one of personal interaction. We come on here and bond just as personally as we know how to do that. We may not be able to visit in person but we still connected.

I'm very saddened the way I see the younger of our society interact with each and certainly with those in the older generation. I hope they will figure it out before we as a society looses something that was more precious than any website.

Yes, it was Krish that made this thread and I thank her for doing so as well. It wasn't just Zen who has been adversely affected but it has affected us all in many ways, some more so than others. It is a dark cloud that has descended. Those are real feelings of our own. Why were so many of us punished too? Because that is what it feels like.

Noted and thankyou Krish for posting this. I was very shocked at the heavy handed way Care2 eliminated Zen, it really doesn't seem right to me. I have seen you Zen around care2, read your comments and shared green stars with you, I know you are friends with many of the people I have on my friends page - I would have loved to have added you to my friends list. Dont let what care2 has done to you affect your self esteem in any way, its likely been done by a big fish in a small pond who has no other way of expressing power but negatively. This elimination from care2 is not about you but about their egos and ethics. For you as one door closes another opens. Always be the loving kind person you are known for, but especially so with your own dear self. With love and good luck on your path in life, I know you will be sorely missed by many including myself. All the best, Melinda

I don't know of any other place here or on the net, that provides that much assistance in a short amount of time. AND...you sent me an email a couple days later, asking me if all was well on my end...!!! How you took time to care for another. Bless you, Zen, for what and who you are, a caring person. By all the wonderful comments here, you were loved and we all cared about you. I wish you nothing but love and peace. Thank you, Krish, for posting this, Sheryl and the others who FW'd this to me, and also...all of the above comments. You will be truly missed. Take care, Zen. xox

Thank you Zen for all you did to help many many people thru the many years you assisted everyone on Care2.I find It is quite shocking & unethical the way you were removed from care2 with out any notice or thought for the members of your groups.Obviously freedom of speech & thoughtful discussion is not encouraged by the powers that be.Im sad at the way Zen was treated & disheartened at the cruel way she was locked out of the site.A petition site that removes petitions?Unbelievable.Bless you dear Zen,peace love & happiness to you always in the future.

Powers of Care2 - doesn't it occur to you that perhaps there has been a misjudgement? Error is human; greatness is in admitting it. So many people stating the good that this one member has done should give pause for thought.
The Care2 I joined many years ago sought members like Zen.
I've had little contact with Zen - giving & receiving stars mainly, but I have trouble imagining what "wrong" she could have done to the Care2 community that justifies deporting her completely. Not according to the caring way she interacted with so many people. This community is a poorer place without her - especially knowing that somewhere up/over there CHOSE to make it such. Too sad - I do hope that it is not a sign that Care2 could become a Careless2. I've valued the Care2 mindset too much, too long

WHY - WHY ... is it that the petition for Zen, addressed to Randy Paynter, Founder, President and Chief Executive Officer - Care2.com on Avaaz's website (https://secure.avaaz.org/en/petition/Randy_Paynter_Founder_President_and_Chief_Executive_Officer_Care2com_Establish_open_dialogue_between_management_and_memb/?tlqMsab) has only gathered a meager 690 signatures as of now??!!??!! The peitioin is up since January 30th ...

What is holding people back from signing in droves?? Just asking ...

I think there is some confusion.. so let me clarify.. that tree nation page is a place where Cali53 ~ one of the recipients of help of Zen planted a tree in her name.. Just like ALL of us.. she was expressing her Gratitude to Zen.. You can look at the first comment in that Page to know what I mean

That is NOT her page.
Zen may or may not be able to respond to your comments from the tree nation page

Currently you can find Zen on Facebook and twitter
Thx Everyone who expressed their Gratitude to Zen on this Page
Thx to CareTwo Support for allowing us to do so

Zen knows, what sometimes appears to be our disaster, may have been our rescue. Only she and the other party involved know the full story while probably none of us, the unloved "47%", actually does.
So I am sending a last message of gratitude and comfort to our brave warmhearted warrior Zen, trusting that somehow it will get to her.
Knowledge isn't always a blessing, mostly boon and bane of life, and more and more the bane only.
May the brave ones like Ellsberg, Manning, Snowden and yes, Zen prevail and win in the end.

This is very sad. I don't FB, Twitter or use any other "social media" because I've always felt my time on Care2 had meaning and worth. That is what Zen did for others - gave her time in meaningful and worthwhile ways to help us through the maze. It's a great loss of a highly respected contributor. I think Care2 at least owes us a response to the petition. Seems unreasonable for a site that encourages us to work for change to be so closed minded when it comes to its own decision-making policies. Thanks Zen for all your efforts to make this site function better.

I can add that Zen used to frequently report the bugs that need to be fixed on this site..
so that the features offered on Care2 are working as INTENDED..
Thus helping Care2 in retaining its members as "Satisfied DoGooders"

thus.. she was helping the site as well..

Oh.. did I say she had a help group for GROUP HOSTS as well..!
Needless to say.. even Group Hosts or NEW Co-Hosts need help in understanding the technicalities

Zen has PHOTOGRAPHIC memory.. she used to give directions through IMAGES.. which I found is the best strategy to explain someone who is facing problems

I was a member of her Help Group "Need Help in Care2?" -> Oasis Chat was a part of that Group..
Oasis Chat was a "Social Random Chat Thread" where we discuss light-hearted topics and share everyday updates.. it was a great place to break the ice.. break the barriers and get to KNOW people very well..

Thus.. Oasis Chat was helping in "Strengthening" the relationships between "Care2 Community"

She often drew attention to topics like

"Safeguarding your Privacy At Care2"
"How to Avoid Hotlinking ~ How to Correctly Post Images"
"Care2 Terms Of Service"

Needless to say she was Offering General Technical Help.

It was one member Offering General Help to 3,500 members-> Imagine that
Oh yes.. every request got an ANSWER as well

The term ' personal matter,' is only used by those who sue someone, never by the victim.
Thats the reason why in civilized countries a lawsuit is obligatory with public.
This prevents an indictment remains secret. Anyone can take cognizance of the complaint , and can form a judgment.
That is a civil right. It is in every constitution of civilized countries.
Apparently not necessary for large companies.

Although I'm in agreement with Care2 not divulging information regarding the termination or suspension of a member (as is the same practice in companies who must enforce disciplinary action on employees), I DO think that the person who is the recipient of the disciplinary action should be given explicit reasons for it.

While it can be argued that the Terms of Service here clearly give Care2 the right to terminate any member, with or without clause, and we all agree to that at the time of joining, by clicking "I agree," most social networks -- even if they have the same language -- would not want to ruin their reputation and attractiveness to new members by using that power frivolously.

I am totally at a loss for words. There is nothing I can say that has not already been said. I was in Zen's group and know that she provided a safe and loving place to go to for help. We do not have such a place anymore and it's too bad. I think Care2 only hurt themselves by not allowing her back. This is a travesty for sure.

Zen they can try to delete your page, your name, your tireless efforts to give, to support, to share and they will, but they cannot "delete" your Spirit.
“When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love have always won. There have been tyrants and murderers, and for a time, they can seem invincible, but in the end, they always fall. Think of it--always.” Mahatma Gandhi

As we all know, the CONTACT US link at the bottom of the page is useless, so we would go to the help groups..I went to one and was attacked relentlessly and nothing was done to stop it. That Care2 cant find a way to resolve this is ridiculous..but it is a profiting business and that means they dont CARE..a tad hypocritical I guess...SHAME CARE2..so much for CARING..how can you promote rights of others when the rights of someone who volunteered for so long were violated with no due process.

Zen, I wish that I had opportunity to have known you. My condolences to your friends here @ Care2 who were blessed to have had the privilege of being counted among both your friends. I've no doubt after reading the many testimonials here by those who did know you, worked along side you, or were simply helped over the humps that being part of a cyber community can strand any of us upon; that you touched many by your acts of goodwill, generosity of time spent, and sincerity of purpose to help others.I am truly saddened by the loss that I will never have opportunity to know you. Namaste to you, Zen Whispering Tree. Be well, blessed be, and thrive on better ground.

Dearest Zen, you will missed so very much, by so, so many!!! I was brought to tears reading all of these outstanding, beautiful, heartfelt tributes. Sheryl, you are so amazing! I am proud & so honored, to be among such wonderful & caring friends here. Zen had freely & gladly given of herself to assist others, myself included---my heart is broken at this very sad turn of events. Thank you my special friend Zen, you will missed more than words can say!!!~

I didn't know her personally but used the help site and links often. It is disturbing that she is gone just like that! But then I don't think anyone who ever gets suspended is ever told why. Care2, as the one who banned her, should step up and have the courage to speak with her and try and resolve this. I do not think Care2 has any inkling how important Zen was to so many people here asking for help with Care2's site.
Come on Care2 please reconsider your actions against Zen.

I am so sorry and upset about Zen I did not really know her but I am sure she is a wonderful and caring person it is a shame that Care 2 has treated her this way, Bless your heart Zen I am sure Care 2 has lost a dear sweet person I know a lot of her friends will miss her and I wish her all the best in the world.

I am very saddened by this ending. I believed that care2 was the "warm" and "friendly " site. I am insure of what to think now. My faith in the members has never wavered. This tribute is beautiful and fitting. I have contact to Zen outside of Care2. My sadness is not only for her, but for each person she helped and friended . Thank you Krish and others for forwarding this to me.

It is a travesty that befalls our friend Zen.
I cannot expound on things said thus far. I am still in utter amazement that our friend has been removed from this site. BUT, she will rise on another site and will be better there than she was here, tho I don't know how. And the friends she made here will more than likely, follow her there. So much loss for a site I have called home for a while.
Dandelion, you brought the inevitable teats to my eyes with your tribute! And there were others, too. I will be seeing you later!
I am reading every post and sending stars as I go! I am so glad for the friends I have met here.
I bragged to someone how much love and caring there was on this site and then this happened soon after. I am so sad that I ever said anything!
Just a word to those who.should not be named- This may pass, but so will the members.
I feel like this is an obituary! It is NOT! As the Phoenix rose from the fire, so shall Zen Whispering Tree!!

this brings tears to my eyes - Dandelion, AMEN to all you say.....everybody else, this is amazing - the camaraderie between us all here at Care2...it is a fascinating WEB of very intimate friendships, the reason being, I think, we are all like minded. To Cat S - there were petitions on C2 and C2 decided to delete them! An excellent and flattering recommendation for a site that promotes petitions ...

But someone created a petition outside C2's reach: the petition for Zen, addressed to Randy Paynter, Founder, President and Chief Executive Officer - Care2.com on Avaaz's website (https://secure.avaaz.org/en/petition/Randy_Paynter_Founder_President_and_Chief_Executive_Officer_Care2com_Establish_open_dialogue_between_management_and_memb/?tlqMsab).

Go for it and sign.

I'm somehow saddened and don't quite understand where the fighting spirit is for which we members stand ... or should stand. Why do we take this hands down? Most of the comments sound so matter-of-fact accepting this totally unjust decision - wishing Zen well and hoping she'd rise somewhere else again (which is surely the case anyway).

Is this all to it and to us? I can't believe it!

Have all a good day!

Also, Eleonora Oldani express my emotions and thoughts very well:
"To me it seems more and more that C2 is another place where we, the people, are kept busy with all kind of things in order not to disturb bigger events. And if one speaks the truth ... he/she’s gone within a click. Something to think about."
And I read it again and again, and I totally agree!

I hope you're able to read this, Zen. I just wanted you to know that you are missed and that our hearts are with you.

On several occasions I contacted Care2's technical staff for assistance, and I never received a response. I mentioned my difficulties to a friend who referred me to Zen, and Zen helped me correct the problem quickly and effectively. I have four help requests in at the moment --all for the same issue-- and I haven't received the courtesy of a response. I don't think the powers that be realize what a valuable asset Zen was and just how much our members need her kind and caring assistance. As time goes on, I think the person(s) responsible for this action will realize that this is a case of "biting off one's nose to spite one's face." People who are unable to deal with their technical issues will eventually give up and leave. I have to wonder how many members are still here because Zen came to their rescue.

Thanks for making this tribute to Zen possible, Krish. And thank you, Dandelion, for sharing it with me.

Hello Zen,
You were so very kind and helpful to me. In fact, without your knowledge and advice I would have had to abandon the Care2 site entirely, as I could not navigate it anymore and had no idea why. I signed the petition and am friends with Zen on FB. I still can't understand what the problem was and why it lead to such drastic action. Like all of you above, it's care2's loss and we will miss her, there is hardly anyone she hasn't helped in the past and who will we turn to now? I don't recall ever being answered by care2 when I wrote them about a problem in the system.

I have no idea what could have happened here...but it is obvious that you are well-loved, Zen, so don't let this get you down at all.

Dandelion put it best. I can't say much after that, but I will add:

All things happen for a reason, and even though that reason doesn't seem to be clear here, perhaps part of it was to bring people together to show they care for you. Maybe because you needed to see it, or because they needed to do it, or perhaps because we needed to see how TPTB actually deal with human beings, or maybe TPTB needed to see the reaction to what they did.

Or.... perhaps there is something else right over the horizon that needs your attention more right now and this is the universe's way of giving you a nudge in that general direction. Whatever it may be, it's a GOOD thing, no matter how bad the form the nudge came in seems. (Censorship DOES suck, just sayin')

Bright Blessings to you and yours, Zen

Green Stars to EVERYONE for the beautiful tributes you have posted in this thread. It is a SAD SAD DAY that has caused this thread's existence ..... KUDOS and heartfelt thanks to Krish for providing us with the chance to "pour out" the love and affection we have for Zen. She has helped many of my friends with their problems on Care2 and was always selflessly DEVOTED to helping others. I cannot express myself as fluently as the other comments (already here) have done - I can merely echo them - I wish you well Zen and can never thank you enough for all you have done. Godspeed and I hope you will be better appreciated wherever you go ..... it will be their GAIN and Care2's TRAGIC LOSS !!! Stay "zen" my friend - you're already sadly missed !!

This so saddens me, I always look forward to seeing your name - which alone brings me back to some of my Buddhist teachings - now it brings me to the teaching of impermanence, and the loss it can bring! I am one of those who never truly got to know you, but from the tribute here and friends that hold you so dear, and looked to you for counsel, it is my loss not to have made the attempt to know you better!
Your friends have a deep love and respect for you -- what more can we hope to gain in this life -- I wish that C2 would respect the wishes of so many of its patrons and reinstate you, it seems such a loss for us all!
I can only wish that you find peace and love and new ways to express yourself and continue your fine work in the future - hope to meet up again in either cyberspace or wherever paths may cross, meanwhile know that this is a loss for me and this community. Blessings go with you in your future endeavors.
Thanks Krish, and Dandelion for making this possible!

Seeing Zen's tree always brightened me, gave me a smile. She is a blessing to us.
I love Care2, I love so much that it has to offer. All the more reason to fight to keep it the beautiful site for open, honest, caring dialogue that we all want it to be. If we are scared to step on toes or say the wrong thing then Care2 is not what I hoped and believed it to be.
I want to meet beautiful people like Zen, be inspired, be enlightened and be genuine.

The site of Marie is not removed , jess.b. It have 286 notes
The other one you mention , was removed very quickly after posting.
That is one of the reasons we are so mad.
We are able to sign here petitions to the White House , all kind of Presidents , Governments etc. but a polite petition with the text , please bring Zen back , addressed to Care2 , is removed by Care2.
It's a contradiction in terminus or whatever you will call it.

I'm so sorry you were singled out like that by the Care2 administration, Zen. You didn't deserve to be treated that way at all. The morale here at the Care2 family is really suffering because Care2 did this to you. If they treated you this way, then what kind of treatment do we expect toward us? You are a wonderful, caring human being, Zen, and we don't want to see you go. I hear you're tired of fighting, and have decided to just quit, but you have so much to give to the world! Care2 is now missing a great member ... you! Please don't quit altogether, start somewhere else if you wish, just keep being the wonderful giving you that Care2 shouldn't have lost ... because the Care2 administrators/ dictators made this bad decision, but the entire Care2 family loves you and misses you, and the world needs you to act on its behalf as always. Much love to you, Zen!

There isn't much I can add here, but I can add something that Zen put on her page, to bring a bit of her page back here on Care2, so to speak :

May you live all the days of your life.

No one is born hating another person because of the colour of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.

Let there be justice for all. Let there be peace for all. Let there be work, bread, water and salt for all. Let each know that for each the body, the mind and the soul have been freed to fulfil themselves.

Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela

Thank you Zen, for being you, and until we meet again.
Thank you all here for the beautiful words, and for being you.

I find it hard to believe (and stomach) that this issue with Zen couldn't be resolved. I would have expected such a tireless advocate who devoted so much of her time to helping other members here in this community would have been treated better. Even though I love Care2 I am bitterly disappointed by you in this instance.

Stars to just about every commenter - and to several I wished I could give many stars!

Dandelion said a very good line in her message 'None of us are perfect, but I never saw anything that this woman did to be so deserving of this. I've seen many foul mouth, bigoted, racists, and darn right mean spirited people on C2 who still remain.' That resonates with me strongly, as I have seen the same. It makes one's deep affection for this site dim and one's efforts want to be redirected, to reduce the pain if we are cut down through no fault of our own.

I didn't know Zen well, but all that I knew of her was good - and her draconian treatment with no explanation is hardly in the spirit of this site. Kudos to Steven G who quoted this
"“Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers.”— UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights "

Someone here mentioned the "Acacia Tree" - Zen's avatar. It was the thing I noticed first a few weeks ago...Zen's tree was missing from my page... where was she? I knew she'd never delete me... she's too kind a soul for that under any circumstances. Then I went to her groups... missing? What on Earth was going on... but I found her through the kindness of other members here. Zen, I hope you keep your beautiful tree... even if in a different form... I will find a way to follow you as will others... you are a blessing in this world and you must not give up forever... just have some time to heal yourself from the cruelties dealt to you. You area true caring person and you have the soul of the Universe of ages...wisdom will guide you to new pastures my friend. May life be kind to you!

Good morning everyone!

Any and all opinions are welcome, so by all means, we might as well just let it out now, I suppose? Just be respectful to each other when doing so is all I ask.

If something is broken, we will fix it and if something needs to change or be modified, we most certainly are open to that as well. Good suggestions and we want to hear it!

Unfortunately, this group has a tendency for threads and emotions to blow up (very much like this thread)since before my time here and has continued on in my time here..no idea why, but I've tried many ways to help change that course and steer it to a more fun, light hearted, less mean spirited gathering. Many ways...I have not yet checked that off as a success, I'll admit. Please help me with that, if you will?

So, again..suspensions. Where did this impression that there are rampant suspensions and "member disappearances" come from? The thing is, these first of all, are very infrequent. If it's not a spammer or a brand new account posting profanity, it's not very common. Really..are people being dragged from their profile pages and silenced in the night? I don't get the benefit of that for anyone? These occur when the members speak out, when the members flag, when the members file a complaint. This is not "Eric doesn't like you". I've got things to do that I hope are helpful. These member fights, suspensions, dealing with dual personalities and disagreements over a moderation decision are the most difficult to deal with, so when they do arise, it's not always hugs and handshakes, as much as I would like it to be.

In reference to one particular episode, ask yourselves, was this an issue until that chain letter a month or so ago? It was addressed by myself and by other management. We had messaged back members with questions directly and posted on the threads and petitions. We addressed it directly and immediately. Now, it has been back in various forms and guises, so please use your best judgement as to where this current "bad vibe" originated and how it is being presented to you. Not once do I see our posts or comments on this issue REPOSTED or even referenced when the new threads and petitions start up, and I do know that those that keep it going are well aware of our stance.

Linda, the person that you are referencing so vaguely(not the above, I know)...I did let this person know on several occasions, that there were some issues. Fact. The response has never been, "ok" or "I agree with the terms", it has been a long letter that I am wrong, she did nothing and that's that. Ok, fine. But the fact is, that was backed up, not by me, by stats, flags, member complaints and comments on file.

In that situation, it is justified(or should this account info become public record for you all to decide?). The resolve is to simply act with a little more respect for others opinions and a little less confrontational tone. That's the bottom line..I'm not going to debate 3 page letters with her on it. The goal of an online debate is not to make the other person quit the site, and that is how it was starting to be. Do you guys support a decision such as that? What would you do?

Are we censoring people? Are we "suspending people at will", those who oppose us? Yikes..seriously, say it out loud, because that is what's being passed around.

But, back to business. If you have ideas or input, we want to hear it. If you have questions or criticism about your experience using Care2 and ThePetitionsite, we want to hear about it! If you don't like Care2, but would use it if there were another feature or function, let us know!!

Thank you for all of the comments above..some of this gets heated I know, but I let it run to see what the differing opinions and things would be. If we all agree that we simply want to exist in and contribute to a better online environment here, that is all I can hope for! Ok..I'll butt out now!

Hi everyone,

We have received your petition and will discuss this matter only with the parties involved. Zen has been a tremendous help to myself and many others here over the years. No question about it!!

Also, to clarify, in no way is this a" lash-out" against criticism or some way to silence a voice on Care2. I don't see the benefit in that and I hope that we have proven, through our actions and our network, that this IS a place where you are free to question everything.

In regards to the letter and email being passed around, we just ask that you use your best judgement in regards to it's contents. Again, I hate to be vague, but privacy will be respected so I am not going to be coaxed into discussing anyone persons business with anyone but them. I would show each and every one of you that same gesture.

Respect to each of you!

I don't know anything about a "chain letter." What the heck are they talking about?

Actually, I don't want to know the personal circumstances of the interchange between the "parties concerned" either.... but I can't help but feel that Care2 are punishing Zen because we are voicing our opinion.

I suppose we have been on the receiving end of Zen's love, help and endless amounts of time, and we have appreciated every minute she has given to us so we can navigate and use Care2 properly. If Care2 thought about this a bit more, they would have a link on the home page called "how to navigate in Care2" and would post all the information that Zen provided us with when we couldn't post videos, or didn't know how to use our comments section and so on.

Believe me, I have only just realised that I can send stars back from my Kudos page.... I always went to the profile page of each person and sent a star from there because I didn't know any better - used to take me hours! Instead of burying information in the Care2 support group pages (a group that I haven't been accepted in), why don't they put general information where new members can find it.

Zen - I still miss you (I only knew about the new stars thing because you sent it to me personally on a message) I have never received a personal message from anyone in Support.

Krish-ok then but I had the info differently-that's what so often happens with infos passed around..
I wish to pick up this "(or should this account info become public record for you all to decide?)": YESSSSS!!!!

Put another way: in a democratic manner, transparent, not necessarily be ALL as for the decision, but for ALL having a SAY in it-then vote or whatever other means there are ti reach that decision. If not everyone even knows of an issue and places where they can voice their opinion, how can they take part in actions such as flagging or other means of getting heard by management. Maybe I am not too well informed about all this, no idea, but these are my thoughts on it. Especially when not every member has easy access to F&S group.

This one from Randy:
Regarding Zen in response to Nora
________________________________________
Thank you so much for your sharing your concerns. It's exactly this kind of caring and compassion for other members that makes the Care2 Community so wonderful.
Care2's Community is extremely important to us. Unlike most websites that simply provide tools or services, we believe the power of Care2 comes from the relationships between and among our members. Because this sense of community is so strong, our members come together to accomplish amazing results.
Communities, however, are complex. While two people may share a common goal of making the world a better place, their styles, priorities and values may clash. This makes it very difficult to keep everyone happy. Multiply that challenge by 23 million passionate members from around the world, and it becomes impossible.
While we don't talk specifics about any one situation, I can assure you we bend over backwards to accommodate key contributors to the Community. If we receive complaints about an individual, we do our best to hear from both sides in the dispute. In almost every case, we hear two strongly opposing perspectives of "who is to blame". As appropriate, we will issue warnings - usually multiple warnings - before suspending anyone. If someone has been suspended, we provide clear direction as to how to avoid future problems. It is only in the most extreme situations where we ban individuals from the Community.
Because we protect the confidentiality of our members and don't talk specifics about any particular case, I realize our reasons for suspending or banning someone may be unclear, or even seem unfair, when only one side of the story has been heard.
Bottom line, no core Community member is ever suspended without multiple ongoing complaints from other members and multiple second chances. The last thing we want to do is remove a key contributor from our Community - so there have to be some very strong reasons to convince us the Community as a whole is better off without that person.
All I can ask is that you look to our 15 year track record and know that we highly value the Care2 community, we take a very thoughtful approach to manage complex, multi-dimensional, interpersonal dynamics, and while our reasons may not always be entirely transparent, we do the best we can to support our Community to make the world a better place.
Best regards,
Randy

Thank you very much Krish for putting an important response note from the CEO, management in THIS case, here for public display! Nobody would ever have found it unless a group member of where it was posted.

As to the content: "no core Community member is ever suspended without multiple ongoing complaints from other members". well, we've gone through that point enough already I assume. as long as there are certain "cliques"/groups of like-minded members who can generat a mass flagging that is NOT representative for the ENTIRE community or even the majority, this isn't the best way to find and make decisions.
As the pasted post by Eric above clearly acknowledges, there ARE these groups and the bashing is STILL ongoing.

Next: (from above post by care2 support):

" We had messaged back members with questions directly and posted on the threads and petitions. We addressed it directly and immediately. Now, it has been back in various forms and guises, so please use your best judgement as to where this current "bad vibe" originated "

Here's MY best judgement why it was readdressed: We are OWED any explanation as to WHY the original agreement to have moderation (by Thomas L, between the 2 parties involved) was shortly later REPEALED !?
I don't know anything about "messaged back members" though; maybe just selected members who had specific input previously.
But about that repeal, I think that what appears as spreading illusions was certainly NOT helpful to end this miserable and regrettable case. Expectations and hopes for a fair process were betrayed or suddenly robbed without visible reason, this is the sticking point and caused members to again rise up.
.It was just a matter of time until ANY OTHER MEMBER would have started another petition for this very cause addressed in the Avaas petition, anywhere outside C2 to not get censored(=deleted) again. This should be real easy to see and acknowledge.
I am open to opposing views.

While I only knew Zen in passing, I have heard many members say that she was helpful to all who needed assistance. This woman gave freely of her time ( note the word freely) and did more than the (non support- support) to address questions/emails left unanswered by the above mentioned group. With that being said, I wish Zen the best of everything and I'm sure she would and will be welcomed with open arms on any other site and appreciated for her outstanding work and effort she has put forth. As for Care 2? It's a shame that they keep resorting to gestapo type measures ( suspensions, etc.) to ensure that members don't speak up when they feel the need to- rather than attempting to work problems out as adults. If Care 2 has turned into the Care less site, perhaps they should rethink their position as there are many other sites where volunteers, such as ourselves can go and "do good". They need us more than we need them. Again, good luck to you Zen as I walk away with a very bad taste in my mouth. TY Krish and all who forwarded.

Must agree with what you say Angelika. There are groups, cliques, gangs, whatever one wants to refer to them as that do this. They have learned this method works, they take this power and run with it, and because they do know this none of us are safe from being suspended or banned. Plus the stronger an advocate or as a more involved member one has a greater chance of this happening to them. Is why some members don't do as much as they like, they fear to open their mouth, else these "gangs" will flag them, not because they said a bad word, but because they have a difference of opinion.

That IS one of the trip wires. Is one thing to disagree with someone but when they go behind the scenes and get their "buddies" to flag, just because they can, and just because they run that way, doesn't mean that the individual actually did such a wrong.

I know one person as soon as they see him come back from a suspension go immediately to flag him, just over the fact they don't like his political view and stories he posts. He doesn't even say anything on the threads for he knows he'll get suspended if he appears, but then one will notice a story and the gang runs after him. This is the reason I've asked for "peer" review or some such animal on C2. Because many of us, who daily come on to this site know exactly what I'm speaking about.

And yes, thank you for posting the C2 response because unless we stumbled into where this was posted it wasn't anything most of us were aware of or seen. I had no idea that Thomas was given a response on the issue; in fact I didn't even know it was Thomas, as I had backed way off of this thinking that something was actually being looked into. A C2 member even was upset with me that I was taking a wait and see approach to allow the parties to work it out. I felt betrayed as I didn't even know that the "negotiator" whoever that was got a contact response. I think that a solution was missed by not doing so but alright, that was a choice C2 made I and many were not even aware of.

Maybe that should be an issue to be addressed, that when many members are upset over whatever it is they are upset about, there is a "place" we are all aware of that we could go. Like there is a section for polls, or a section to look for petitions, a section to see an update on issues or if C2 is working behind the scenes that the website will be slow for that day or a few hours. Us older members know there are times it slows down but to the new one's it would tell them something. Don't worry, slowness expected on Feb. 5th or whatever.

Good afternoon to you all, and most of all to you, ZEN.

Each of you have said what is in my heart, far more eloquently than I ever could have! Stars to you all!!!

The only thing that I can add to these, thoughts, wishes, and sentiments is:

I a world with so much injustice, it is so very ironic that the site that has been set up to fight those injustices has fallen victim to the very same methodology in reason and logic as those large corporations and their political puppets that are responsible for most of the injustices that we are all here to fight... CAN WE NOT EVEN SEE OUR SELF IN THE MIRROR???

It is time to re-evaluate and admit a mistake has been made. Can we not be bigger than those we are fighting against? We ALL make mistakes, but the admirable ones correct the mistake and apologize in the face of embarrassment.

Care2, you are loved and respected because of what you represent... But when you begin to begin to turn against that which you represent, you turn against that love and respect.

I love you all for your passion in righting wrongs and doing so without any reward except that you have been a hero to someone that you may never even meet!

You are all heroes, and to you ZEN- you are a leader of heroes!
Love
-David King

"Beware the leader who bangs the drums of war in order to whip the citizenry into a patriotic fervor. It emboldens the blood just as it narrows the mind. And when the drums of war have reached a fevered pitch and the blood boils with hate and the mind has closed, the leader will have no need in seizing the Rights of the citizenry. Rather the citizenry, infused with fear and blinded by Patriotism will offer up all of their Rights unto their leader and gladly so. How do I know? For this is what I have done. And I am Caesar."

Dandelion: "Maybe that should be an issue to be addressed, that when many members are upset over whatever it is they are upset about, there is a "place" we are all aware of that we could go". Absolutely so!
Skip the "maybe" and spell "we ALL" in caps. Any small business would have a billbord i assume, near the entrance or anywhere unmistakenly seen by all, no? This would NOT "steal clicking time" either, the opposite is true.

I like that idea, for in groups you have a bit of time to rephrase or check for typo's. I've caught some before I have done a submit, but other times I only see it afterwards. Angelika.. my best guess is... that's how it starts.. share a petition which you like to share..and there you go.. you are connected to FB through Care2.. and you are not even aware of this..

if you are logged-in to Facebook.. every time you post a comment.. your FB page says.. Angelika posted a comment on "link"

if you are logged-out of facebook.. but still facebook connect is "on" at Care2.. then that Pop-up appears..kinda annoying.. if you are browsing Care2 through Mobile.. that experience is even worse!!

So better to disable that "Facebook_Connect" option.. There are other ways of sharing link to FB.. you can copy paste the link to share as well

May be you can try asking this in F&S Group {I think there are some helpful people in F&S group as well}

I shot an arrow into the air,
It fell to earth, I knew not where;
For, so swiftly it flew, the sight
Could not follow it in its flight.

I breathed a song into the air,
It fell to earth, I knew not where;
For who has sight so keen and strong,
That it can follow the flight of song?

Long, long afterward, in an oak
I found the arrow, still unbroke;
And the song, from beginning to end,
I found again in the heart of a friend.

In fact, I don't know Zen that well, no links, just encounters on comment-pages.
BUT, it's not the point being friends or not, it's the censorship and the old fashioned 'all-mighty-sole-ruler-of-the-universe' attitude of higher C2 members(owners?) that bothers....

What bothers also is that the letters/messages we (some of us) received from Randy (or other C2 support?) were all about the same and quite vague, all those who wrote (I guess) received a green star, and in the end nothing happened, a part from the definitive removal of Zen's account.

No sign or track of a second lecture, no sign or track of some sort of 'appeal-court', just 'none of your business, circulate'.

But, what Care2 seems to forget is that it IS our business, this site might be founded by Randy (ok, credits and kudos to him), but once founded it is us, you and me (in fact, mostly you (including Zen) and just a tiny bit me) that made this site great (and important). Without us this site is not much, nothing in fact.

A pity that things got here, that we're stuck here on a point of no return and of no discussion, Zen's gone away/been kicked out, Care2 don't want to discuss.

As Sheryl said (here or elsewhere), there are a lot of fitlth-throwers who deserve much more than Zen to be removed from this site, but they are still here, and can go on throwing their filth.

If a thing like this would have happened on Facebook, Petition-site and Care2 would be buzzing with petitions and articles, but as this is about C2 itself....

As said Martin Niemöller:

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out--
Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out--
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out--
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me--and there was no one left to speak for me.

Keep on speaking out!

Anyway, thanks Sheryl for this page, thank you all for your comments, (thanks Care2 for letting this page open....).

Krish thx for tips.-apologies for off-topic!
"{I think there are some helpful people in F&S group as well}" - Krish, let me KNOW when they are visiting there! Am tired of waiting for weeks and months.
I wanted to AVOID signing in to FB for each time just to post a link, let alone C&P that link, when it can be done with one click AND include a thumbnail image and more explanation to the cause.
If opting out, as your above suggestion reads to me, disables all that at the same time, it isn'ttoo helpful to me.
The option for an edit box is still best solution! (but nobody hears us, listens...)

Zen, I wrote this from the bottom of my heart...sweet pea

there is a twinkling star in the heavens above
for a beautiful friend that I know~
the snow falls gently
and I think of her then
distant miles from a place we called home~
my heart is so heavy for such a good friend
a friend with a heart full of gold~
the leaves whisper her name and are holding her now
until our paths meet again
it was I that was honored
to call her my friend
kindred spirit, earth angel, she knows~
may the hope of tomorrow
help heal her unrest
a new beginning, she leads, I will go
there is a gentle breeze in the setting sun
for her courageous kind soul that will grow~

She is with tears in her eyes, she appreciates this very much. It has helped tremendously. This is the least of her concerns, at the moment, what happened on C2. So for those who pray she asks that you send some her way. Matters not knowing the reason, that is personal, just pray for her and her families well being.

To Ewoud - I would send you a whole truckload of Green Stars if only I could; so one will have to do! You put it straight to the point - thank you.

What's lacking in Zen's case is something called TRANSPARENCY and FAIR DUE PROCESS. All the vague and generalized statements don't lick this simple truth away. They only confirm time and again that something went somewhere in the line management totally wrong and/or out of hand for whatever reason(s).

The fact alone that mediation was refused - although we were initially led to believe otherwise - is telling. If there is nothing to hide ... why not come forward with it? After all Zen was not "just" another member! It would help a great deal in restoring some of the trust which has been badly damaged. In modern parlance it's called "damage control" = ABC of management.

I disagree though that we've reached the point of no return. It's 100% in the hands of C2 Management to turn around and rectify this most unfortunate situation. The very least that C2 Management could do is to rehabilitate Zen and her reputation and stop participants in some other threads from smearing her image and reputation. That those are not kicked out - or at least stopped - is beyond me and tells in itself a story.

I still hope against all hope to see some positive action full well knowing that Zen wouldn't come back - I wouldn't either. But it's the gesture from C2 Management that would mean a lot and show us that one is able to grow above petty stuff.

The truth is always the first victim ... and hope the last to die!

I have lived under too many oppressive systems in the past quarter of a century and never stopped raising my voice. I will not start this unhealthy habit now!

You all stay safe ... and btw the Avaaz petition has as of now a disappointing 701 signatures - thank you Desanka for signing!

I never had the pleasure to meet and get to know Zen, but many of my friends did, and I have heard nothing but great things about Zen. I wish I'd met you, Zen, and I'm so sorry you had to be treated so shabbily and unfairly. This brings to mind the words, "No good deed goes unpunished". To one of my dearest friends here at Care 2, It has been a pleasure knowing you, and learning the basic computer language. I was and still am a computer dummy, you need to spell everything out for me. Step 1 do this , next step 2 do that, and so on,. Your instruction sheets were great, I am sorry I did not print them out. so I have lost them. But my dear you have left many students behind that did learn well, because you were and still are a great teacher. I will go to them for answers if I need. Be safe, be well, and know in your heart you did good. I will not say Good Bye, I will just say till later, because things can always change, Sincerely Kay M.

Just want to send my respect and best wishes to Zen also. I don't know her well but she did help me with a computer issue once and was kind enough to send good wishes my way a few times -- so thanks again Zen!!
And thanks, Dandelion, for the forward.

I do remember admiring her for the time she must have spent in the support group, in addition to her caring attitude of course. I'm sorry she is now prevented from an interaction she must have enjoyed, and i'll join others in saying it can't be right.

I read in above comments the mention of groups of like-minded people who will relentlessly flag someone they don't like. Of course i don't know any details of this issue with Zen, but will say that being flagged by other members (even 100,000 times) should in no way alone be cause for any punishment. Someone either committed a violation or they didn't, regardless of the opinions of others. I can certainly respect the Care2 management not wanting to make the details public, however, they should be obligated to state what violation was committed if they ban someone, such as relentlessly harassing others, profanity, spamming, etc. My 2 cents.

Again, best wishes to you, Zen. :)

Petition any one who will and knows how to write one -- for each individual person.

Thank you once again Krish, for giving opportunity to do so. With hindsight, this affair to me looks much like an "dishonorable discharge from the military!, except I doubt if the military has such terms as "AT WILL". Realising this is private sector, speaking for itself.

The Care 2 powers-that-be should hang their heads in shame: this whole sorry affair has left a very bad taste indeed! Not only have we lost an excellent member in Zen Whisperingtree, but other valuable members who were so appalled by her treatment. Shameful!

Monika-you may have seen my earlier comment/s on the petition thread-I had a different term for what WE are and I think that gets closer to reality. This is ALL about CLICKING and to each click there's a $ amount attached, it's called business. The whole thing may be called a click farm, with some extras added.Let me know anyone if I'm wrong. Apologies for this topic on Zen's tribute thread, but then SHE most likely knew this as well.

I have known Zen for about 10yrs now when I first came onto Care2. I knew absolutely nothing about computers or even individual websites. I cannot tell you how many many times Zen was there to help me out, show me how to put a Petition up and then rooted for me when I too was suspended from Care2. I feel torn as the same question continues to linger in my mind.....what is this sight really all about? I think that it started off with the right motive which was to protect the Rights of all living, breathing beings as well as the ocean and the environment but I think that Greed, lack of empathy and ego has taken over. You have to wonder when a person chooses to help so many people with the care2 site and is paid nothing back in return just what this craziness is all about.
Zen was an awesome person with lots of integrity, dignity and respected all people. There will never be another Zen. This is just so so so very wrong!
You were and are appreciated Zen and you impacted so many people's lives. You will be forever missed.

First of all, thank you Krish for opening this post and giving all of us a chance to voice our love and appreciation to Zen for all of her work in helping the Care2 members. I'm very privileged to be counted as one of Zen's friends.

When I first came on to Care2, I knew nothing about the site and Zen helped me a great deal. Then I became a member of her group "Need Help in Care2?", which by the title alone shows where Zen's heart lay....she wanted to help people navigate in Care2, thereby helping Care2 also by taking some of the load off Care2 Support.

Zen got a lot of complaints from people who sought her help because they weren't getting responses from Care2. I experienced this myself. I tried to get help for a problem I was having and sent a request for help from Support. They replied quickly, giving me a Case Number. I never heard from them again. That's where Zen came in and that's where the trouble started with Zen and Care2. After many years of complaining to Care2 about the bad service they were giving the members, Eric got tired of hearing her complaints. I won't copy his final response to Zen here because it would be an infringement of privacy, but Zen did send it to me. The end result of the response was that Eric was tired of her complaints and she's out!

So now groups are without hosts, members are quitting and some of us are heartbroken, including me. Krish, you mentioned the "Oasis" where so many members came to relax and make and commiserate with friends. Zen provided that for us, taking time from her busy schedule helping others, so we could have a fun and calming "Oasis" to go to. I miss that and I miss the friends I made there. Some of us are on Facebook so we meet there but it's not the same.

Zen was and still is devastated. My heart breaks every time I see her words "I can't take any more . I'm done." She's now on Facebook and hopefully will be able to gain her strength back soon. Thank God for her friendship. I've never met a more kind, caring, giving person and I love her dearly.

Krish, there are more comments here than I've ever seen in a news post. Thanks again for opening it. For all the people who haven't as yet signed the Avaaz petition, here's the link:

Sadly our paths never crossed, but its plain to see by all the comments here from all your many friends that you were loved and appreciated very much, for all you contributed and for being who you are.It saddens me that I didn’t get the privilege to meet you Zen and join your groups.Everyone has expressed just how helpful and generous you were with your time.I know I could do with, and would of appreciated a little friendly advice navigating this site.C2 have not been fair and have wronged you. It’s just not possible for such a large proportion of the C2 community of good well meaning people to be wrong about you.
I wish you the very best.

Friday February 7, 2014, 4:51 am
Lynn thank you for your heartfelt comment that a lot of us know and wrap ourselves around. This was a great dis-service for many members on here. I realize over time, new members will come on, never having knowing Zen or experience her helpfulness, so I suppose C2 will go forward, it's a business; but this action took the steam out of a lot of people. It also leaves a lot of people with a very bitter taste in their mouth too and for a Caring site that isn't very caring. Sometimes people need to put personal difference aside for the good of the whole; for there is a whole lot of hurt going on by some very caring people.

what amazes me is that care2 allows bigots haters and paid trolls to pollute this site but bans someone with no explanation thank you all for you're caring I have been of the mind for some time that this site has lost it's way and I don't really have any hope that it will regain it

Angelika R. (143)
Friday February 7, 2014, 8:32 am
I also wish to express my aporeciation and thanks for Lynn G.'s posting above.
I stumble upon her statement of not wanting to copy his[Eric's] final response to Zen here because it would be an infringement of privacy, but Zen did send it to me. I and most likely many if not most others have seen that response which was in fact cited in a number of threads on here. It did make things clear, at least clearer.
Personally, I am not too sure if that was actually the SOLE reason for the whole miserable affair and its ending.
From real life, politics in particular, we have all learned that usually there is more than meets the eye to just about any affair.

Angelika R. (143)
Friday February 7, 2014, 8:42 am
Gary A L- agreed to some point. But "regaining its way"-what ever that way may be in the world of business- would probably mean more investment, also and particularly in employing staff. Something any private business is more than reluctant to do, apart from certain issues to find qualified staff. Look at US economy as a whole-and by all means do not blame it on the current administration.

Care2 is a business and they lose money when we are not on it. How about we all picket the decision to ban Zen from care2 and not get on care2 for a couple of days...That will cost care2 big bucks, and send a message that we will unite at the injustice of others.

Zen, I believe and trust when one door closes another opens. Thank You my Friend for being my first Friend on Care2. You helped me navigate Care2 when I floundered with no response to my requests for help from Care2. You always answered my questions or referred me to a FAQ to help me. Your unselfish and caring responses shows character and professionalism. Traits lacking in so many appears easy for you. Remain strong Zen. You are a winner my Friend, body and soul, as noted by so many in our tributes. We will not forget you. I will link to you on Facebook. I joined Care2 because I trusted it to be an organization with objectives and goals greater than petty differences and politics. You gave much and we appreciate and thank you for your many contributions to a better world. Keep your eyes open wide for that open door just there within your reach.

This is becoming old and juvenile. Care 2 is not acting as a group that supports human/animal rights, environment, respect for life, toleration, equality and even compassion. Time for some growing up here; instead of attack, attack! Don't care what sin they feel Zen has committed, time to forgive and forget and move on. Zen is remarkable; they should give her the respect and empathy that she gives to all of her friends and groups.

HELP!! Zen, where are you? I've been trying to change my avatar to the candle which I received from a friend "A Light for Zen" in protest of Zen's treatment by C2

I've had no problem to change the frog when I became a member ... and now the system just doesn't want to "swallow" my change to the candle. I followed step by step the instructions - yet, my Boxer pops up again every time!

Anyone who can help? Would be greatly appreciated - thanks!

Elonora.. after choosing the file.. did you click on Upload at bottom..

after that go a pop up window should appear saying "uploading"

Then after that you need to REFRESH the page..multiple times..

for verification whether photo is uploaded or not.. go to your profile page{after uploading} then DOUBLE CLICK on your profile image.. if it shows candle image.. you have successfully uploaded

After that if your candle image is not being shown in "other" pages like C2NN etc.. you need to REFRESH those pages as well

So much is wrong with C2, but Zen was one thing that was right. She was a great face for the organization. And what Jess said earlier is true for me as well. I rarely got an answer from C2. But I always got an answer that was genuinely helpful from Zen.

This is not okay.

I am glad that Care2 management is monitoring this thread because there is something Support (I assume Eric) stated I wish to address.
"Unfortunately, this group has a tendency for threads and emotions to blow up (very much like this thread)since before my time here and has continued on in my time here..no idea why, but I've tried many ways to help change that course and steer it to a more fun, light hearted, less mean spirited gathering."

I don't know which group or thread you are referring to. I have been a member of this site since 2008 and admittedly there have been a few emotional and inappropriate comments but compared to other Internet social sites VERY few. And if you consider what this Site is about..."light hearted" does not seem to apply. We are trying to save our planet and our civil liberties from oppression. The same kind of oppression you have shown in your handling of this situation. I obviously don't have all the facts. But I know a lot of them and you have over reacted, Eric. A wise man can admit when he is wrong. And to Randy. You created a wonderful site. Please don't go down the path the US government has and destroy it trying to protect it.

Now to Zen.. I am not a religious person but I definitely believe in omens. I met you just shortly before this mess began and I immediately had great respect for you. This thread shows me that respect was well merited. Many of those I care about here have come to support you and that tells me a lot. I was led to you by powers I don't understand but there was a reason, I am certain of it.
This isn't over. If Care2 believes this storm will pass they have not been paying attention, not only to this thread but to world events. The voice of the people will not be silenced.

@James Travers: So very well said. I applaud you, sir. I couldn't have said it better and kudos to you for having the courage to say it just like you did. It is what it is, Care2 Support! Wake up, and do the right thing. Re-instate Zen! Ha! That's if she'll even want to come back after you crucified that wonderful lady. Again, James, you are right, this isn't over. Far from it, I think. :-)

To James T. - Green Star is on its way and thanks for your well written comment. Going by all the applaus you got ... you seem to have hit the bull's eye - LOL.

Don't be too harsh with Eric - after all isn't it funnier if we go "light-hearted" down the tube ... ?!

Re Zen - I was in a similar situation like you (joining her group very recently) and have today a wonderful personal raport with her. She's one great lady!

Stay safe!

Well Zen, we have already met around town in a couple of other gathering places. You are loved, appreciated, missed and we want you back! I have read this thread and I'm not at all surprised at the outpouring of love and gratitude to you, yes you. The care, attention, patience and help that you deliver endlessly is needed here. I do hope that the tide will turn and a realization of mistakes will become evident.

Never thought I'd get an essence of politics on Care2, but sadly, I'm feeling it. Please help us to live in a space of free speech and sharing of ideas. Please don't be hypocritical in your intentions as a harbor for the greater good. Hundreds, perhaps thousands, of us are here daily with noble intentions. Zen is a harbinger and a facilitator of those goals and dreams.

At least some of us still have Zen as a friend on Facebook. For that, I am grateful.

Thank you, Zen, for your contributions on this site and to the world. I didn't know you, but I feel that I have come to know you through the comments. It would appear that you have been the victim of vindictive and malicious actions on the part of someone connected with Care2 which is incomprehensible. I am disillusioned and saddened by this. I have signed the petitions and posted comments. Thank you to everyone who shared the petitions and the posts. I'm beginning to understand what happened. I also want to thank those who posted the moving tributes. I wept to read them. Love and blessings to you Zen, and your family, and everyone else who is working to right an injustice.

I do missed her messages. We haven't chatted but Zen knows I did exist because I sent her those green stars.

I found her FB account but I think I would be wishing to make my friend request be accepted by her. Her latest post was February 2.

FB is also threatening to banned and permanently suspend my account.

Amazing I just got to this share from Dandelion. There is another thread where war is waging and the idea behind the petition there is almost lost because of the flame war that has broken out.

I am so glad to see this thread and all the wonderful comments. Zen and I joined at nearly the same time, I left within a couple months, trolls don't interest me and the site wasn't much then but a good idea. Some mailing brought me back two years ago and I immediately ran into an issue I didn't know how to deal with and I have been online for more than 20 years, the support staff gave me a case number and I never heard another word. So I searched and came across Zen's group. I was amazed at the energy she put into her work on behalf of those of us walking in the dark. I posted and got an immediate response, solving my issue. Since then I have referred many friends to her group always with positive results. But the very best part was that Zen and I became friends, on and off site, we've talked and grown to know each other. I honor her spirit, her truth, her love and caring with all of my soul. She is an amazing woman whom I intend to know the rest of my life. That's the kind of inspiration she brings. Whatever else happened, nothing tarnishes the Zen I know and love. I'm glad this is here. I hope it stays forever. And, in my heart of hearts, I hold hope the site managers will at some point accept Zen's contrition and welcome her back. I am a dreamer but I'm not the only one - so John Lennon said. And so do I.

Krish, so well said. You certainly are the voice of reason. I'm sure Fadi's heart is in the right place. We just can't rock the boat with C2, and like you said, if we act in good faith, we can expect a positive outcome. Thanks for this thread, Krish. :-)

Thank you for your reply Krish, and for the additional information and the petition link. I am definitely not up to date on C2 like I used to be in the past because I can barely find the time for side events such as this one, but never failed to sign as many petitions as I can and send out green stars.

I believe, Zen, is not the main issue here; this is about a policy that does not differentiate between 'good' members and 'bad' members, and particularly in Zen's case, C2 has disregarded a very long and loaded history of goodness and positivism (judging by the testimonies here and elsewhere) from Zen's side towards a large base of C2 members, and this is what I'm unable to digest! Moreover, what if the account of a 'not so famous' member got deleted, wouldn't they go down in silence? I wonder how many accounts have already been deleted without being noticed.

Tell me something; C2 Founder and Management usually refer to the website and its members as 'The C2 Community' well, why is it then when the 'community' gets together in order to extend support to one of its members the management's response is (and I quote you); "They said they will deal the matter only with parties involved. That was the management's response"? So whether C2 is a community or not is now a point of view and a decision made by the management? When in trouble you find yourself alone, but when obedient you are part of the community?

I am not here to attack C2 or its management and I very much appreciate having such beautiful platform available to those who would like to make positive change in the world, but what's wrong is wrong and needs to be corrected. Maybe Zen's incident is there to help C2 discover flaws in their structure or misuse of authority by those responsible for monitoring member activities and accounts.

Anyway, good luck to you and to everyone else.

I fully agree with all that you have said Fadi as I would of preferred that this situation would of been dealt with in a more transparent way, with the premise behind this website having the word "care" in it, that each human being behind the key stroke would be given a way to resolve issues in some sort of peer review or perhaps a negotiation process.

Justification it may of been but when some are kept in the dark and other members claim to know everything it doesn't bode well. It has torn apart the community, many therefore removing themselves and going elsewhere. A loss to us who truly believe in Human Rights at every level, but when transparency isn't there it leaves many in the dark and uncertain where to tread.

It is like this for many living in the USA now, forgetting the years of hard work and the dedication in whatever they had contributed in the past. I'm finding that this format is becoming more frequent for a lot of us at every level in society, that if we remain silent in certain places we can have our so called freedom, but just don't ask for full rights in all ways. I say USA as the website is out of this Country. Let us say that as activists on this site, despite their physical location, there certainly wasn't lack of trying to bring forth justice that all could feel more comfortable with. I'm also not attacking the website as I have been a member for many years but I do feel that there is always room for improvement and that every voice should be heard without fear of stepping on a land mine.

Dear Dandelion G, thank you for your reply and for decorating this page with your beautiful smile :)

Absolutely spot on with your comment as usual. People draw from their environment and before they know it their mindset begins to shift and gradually adapt. What was deemed outrageous or unacceptable in the past may be common practice today. The way the U.S Government treats its own citizens may infiltrate companies and homes too, but the problem here is when such unjust practices begin to affect the very same places that are supposed to be the frontiers of freedom, justice, compassion and oneness, such as the C2 platform.

I hope C2 revisits its internal policies and takes corrective actions to insure its continuity and growth as a healthy platform. I believe that positive energy and the yearn for change within people is going to express itself one way or another, Zen, for example, is not going to stop what she's doing just because C2 has decided to ban her, thus, what maybe seen as loss on one side will be gain on the other, and positive change will always find its way into areas where it is needed most.

To Zen I say, most challenges are blessings in disguise, if you know what I mean ;)

Thank you Fadi, always a pleasure to read your heartfelt and intelligent comments. It is for wonderful Human Beings such as yourself and others who will come and go that I remain here. As a dandelion, to spread some seeds that I hope will take root to counter the harshness taking place.

I once more concur with you and is why I placed my first comment onto this thread of Tuesday February 4, 2014, 5:59 am of Still I Rise.

Continue to Walk In Beauty and Peace.

Dandelion G, you comments are marvellous. Many of us miss Zen being on Care2 terribly. We remember the help that she gave us, the Oasis where we could stop off and enjoy a gentle and delightful time.

Certainly as you say, that dandelions spread seeds and may they always be seeds of Hope.

After all the things Zen did to help so many people, I believe that her banning was far too severe and many of us are now left without a gentle Oasis where we stopped by to share so many things with others.

Thank you Zen, for all the things you did to help me and so many others.
