Quantities of mercury have been found in high fructose corn syrup, the ingredient that has replaced sugar in many of our processed foods. Reports have also come out that the FDA knew about traces of the toxic substance in food, and sat on the information

This angers me. For 8 years, Bush told us who the terrorists were. Actually, Bush was the terrorist, along with his corrupt cabinet and department leaders, like the FDA. Americans (and the world) have been poisoned for their profits. Also, corn syrup, soy products and many other items are genetically engineered. They have us coming and going.

Most, if not all, diseases can be attributed to processed, refined, polluted, chemically altered, fried, dyed and laid to the side foods where the nutrients have been destroyed and the DNA of the product has been monstrously altered. Garbage in, garbage out. We ARE what we eat. Feeling bad? What are you eating?

Buy locally grown, organic food. And it's better to grow your own if possible. Over 25% of the people in America now grow their own. It's the only way to know what you are eating. Do it for your family. Do it for you. Do it for the world.

We can change the corruption by first changing ourselves.

Well said Marion!
We as individuals have the choice to eat wholesome foods or the 'ready-meals' which are full of stuff you can't pronounce.
If people took responsibility of their food, much of the rubbish seen on supermarket shelves would disappear, however this takes commitment and many folks don't want to apply the effort.
Change your thinking...Change your world.
Thanx Gregory for serving up this latest FDA scandal, it certainly is...
Food for thought! ;)

That stupid FDA, we'd be better off with the 3 Stooges in charge of our health! I hope President Obama looks at them very carefully, and then changes the system for the better...thanks, Gregory.

I agree with what everyone else has said and yes our bodies are now dealing with all the additives, over processed and chemically altered food. Part of the problem is living in areas where the growing season is extreme short we as consumers have been conditioned to realize prodce could be shipped to us.Federal standards should have protects us, but have failed. We need to control what we can once again and that means grow what you can if at all possible...can, freeze, dehydrate. I deplore violence but no one is being held accountable. In China a death sentence was given to two individuals who ran the company and covered the contaimination of milk...Here those in charge retire, take the money and leaves the mess for us to pay to clean up...

While disgusting, this comes as no surprise. Read Fast Food Nation.

I want to know how & why there would be mercury in corn syrup! Was it in the corn, or somehow added later in the production of the corn syrup, etc..

Yvonne, mercury is used as a preservative, so it was added later in the production of the corn syrup...

Well this explains a lot to me in regards to so many parents out there (including myself with my own son)who are linking sugar intake to their children forming Autism! Look at how much the disorder is on the rise...right along with the rise in artificial food preservatives, colorings, etc. so readily available for our kids in the supermarkets!

Mercury is used as fungicide on seeds to prevent them rotting under cool soil conditions. Could that be a source? The dangers of uncontaminated corn syrup are an eye-opener too.

The West Price Foundation is a great source for this kind of information.

FDA = Failure to Do Anything

Say, do you suppose it would be economic stimulus if we hired and trained a whole bunch of food and drug manufacturing inspectors?
