Still don't trust anything concerning Walmart. But, true... this is a step in the right direction. Am sure Walmart people were grinding their teeth every step of the way.... Thanks Gregory.

You are right,Kathy!Don't trust them! They have what is called "The Open Door Policy"to encourage associates to come to managers and talk about problems them the story gets passed all over the place and the information is used against the person. This also encourages snitching and telling lies about someone you do not like!Very BAD policy!! UNION NEVER HAPPEN HERE IN THE USA

The anti-union practices, used by employers, reveal a huge contradiction in the philosophy of western freedom.Surely it is a right,to belong to a union!?
The whole history of western industrialisation, shows that employers have consistently collaborated and lobbied to attempt to stop people exercising this right.
The nature of politicians and political parties, is revealed also,in where they stand on this issue.

Unions DO happen here in the USA, but usually only North of the Mason-Dixon Line. In the deep South - it is an "open door policy" I was born & raised in Chicago area, but now live in the Tampa Bay area of Florida.

Right on, Jay St. They'll close the unionized ones and open non-union shops somewhere else.

I believe we will see an employees union at the Walmart in the United States in part because of Canada groundbreaking decision.

Wal-Mart has one goal, to control consumers worldwide thru their purchases.
The question one must ask is will I allow Wal-Mart to control me?
Personally, I say NO. I am not a Wal-Mart supporter, never have been, never will.
Support LOCAL business, send Wal-Mart packing :D
Roll THAT back Wal-Mart! :p

Noted, thanks Gregory. workers need to make a living wage and this is a step in the right direction! I boycott walmart, but I hope the Union can get in in the US now. Walmart has ruined so many local businesses here. Not everyone has the same view about boycotting walmart!

Thank G*d for the mounties...If Wal-Mart sinks Obama (as they so desire in their anti-union stance) G*d help the U.S...They are about to launch in Australia...Can they be stopped?...Nooooooooooo money speaks louder than words...Did anyone read the 1960s publication 'None Dare Call it a Conspiracy?'...Shame...There was a time back then where the people convinced the U.S. government to pull out of Vietnam...No more?...

Let's hope it rains on their parade down here in the USA. I don't shop walmart either or Kmart. They have never cared for employees, only the damn dollar

If Wally World follows what they did here in the states, they will simply close the store and move on. They shall not allow a union.

I've searched for a reference, but if you want to Google it, feel free, but when faced with ordered unionization, they simply closed the doors, thus closing the jobs that were there and the secondary incomes generated by the giant. They got their union and they picketed an empty store.

If the order came through congress for them to organize Unions in all american walmart stores, they would have no choice. They can't close them all-they would loose too much money. And once closed I think there are a lot of us who would not want them back.
