Excellent video about The Dam-Builders and the fight of indigenous people in Turkey and Brazil, worlds apart, yet both in the struggle against government and corporation dam building on two mighty rivers. Historical, environmental, and cultural.

So called civilized people should stay in the city. Moving indigenous people, wild animals, for urban sprawl, dams, levies, mines, and oil ruin everything.

There are those in the world who wonder why we need areas of indigenous populations. When all the gas guzzling, beef eating, silicon implanting, temperature manipulating people are short of resources they will cry to the earth and to the indigenous people to help them regain balance. Hopefully the earth will still be able to recuperate, but I doubt the indigenous people will. This is criminal.

thank you Kenneth for the post, it always breaks my heart when I see how our so called civilization methodically and continously destroy our planet

What bugs me the most is government ignorance...the people do have the power to vote someone into power but once that someone is in...they listen to no one. thanks for the post Kenneth, it is amazing what people can do when they get together...

In Australia we fought a fight against the damming of the Franklin River in Tasmania from 1976 until we won in 1983. This fight was the origination of The Wilderness Society Australia and from there the Green Party was formed. The Green Party is now the third party in our political system and often holds the balance of power. It was a very difficult fight but has changed our country forever. I wish the same success for Turkey and Brazil.

Criminal.
Government's seem to have no memory, no vision, and no moral compass.
But maybe the worst part is they have become deaf to both the people and the land crying out for mercy-and justice.
Thanks Kenneth

Thank-you caring and sharing this Kenneth. . .passing on to many. . .

NOTE: There are some very strange creatures running around this planet in human bio-forms...systematically destroying all that sustains their own species. . .what does that. . .still think it's some type of lethal mutation. . .

"I believe in God, only I spell it Nature." ―Frank Lloyd Wright, quoted, 14 August 1966

"Nature is the art of God." ―Thomas Browne, Religio Medici, 1635

“To aid and abet in the destruction of a single species or in the extermination of a single tribe is to commit a crime against God, a mortal sin against Mother Nature." ―Edward Abbey

"... When you slaughter a creature, you slaughter God.” —Isaac Bashevis Singer

"The Indian loved to worship. From birth to death he revered his surroundings. He considered himself born in the luxurious lap of Mother Earth and no place was to him humble. There was nothing between him and the Big Holy. The contact was immediate and personal, and the blessings of Wakan Tanka flowed over the Indian like rain showered from the sky. Wakan Tanka was not aloof, apart, and ever seeking to quell evil forces. He did not punish the animals and the birds, and likewise He did not punish man. He was not a punishing God. For there was never a question as to the supremacy of an evil power over and above the power of Good. There was but one ruling power, and that was Good."

"Regarding the 'civilization' that has been thrust upon me since the days of reservation, it has not added one whit to my sense of justice; to my reverence for the rights of life; to my love for truth, honesty, and generosity; nor to my faith in Wakan Tanka—God of the Lakotas." ―Ota K'Te/Mochunozhin, (1905-1939) Oglala Lakota [aka:Chief Luther Standing Bull Teton Sioux]

"We saw the Great Spirit's work in almost everything: sun, moon, trees, wind and mountains. [...] I think we have a true belief in the supreme being, a stronger faith than that of most whites who have called us pagans....Indians living close to nature and nature's ruler are not living in darkness." ―Tatanga Mani [1871-1967], Stoney, Canada [aka :Walking buffalo] Nakhóta, Îyârhe Nakoda

Great quote Elle B., and others. Seems there's more than one view of 'the Big Holy' than just Christian. Who could create a monopoly on God?
Great comments everyone.
What struck me in the video is the unique differences yet similarities of different peoples, such as in Turkey and Brazil and how many there must be in the world. Also the map showing all the dams on the earth's rivers from 1821 to present. Sickening!.

Thanks and green stars Kenneth, Ellie, Ellen, Heidi and others. Excellent video, I do hope it will help - these plans of multinational conglomerates make me miserable - all their enterprise and drive goes into crushing people, never building them up.

Yes, this is criminal and it´s happening in my country too. Many people have died trying to stop it. This is plain ecocide.

Dams are a logical source of green energy... HOW and WHERE they are built makes the critical difference. There are some places where dams should NEVER be built.

The Aswan Dam in Egypt damaged the local ecology by affecting Nile flooding and submerged archaeological sites which can no longer be visited or studied.
