The Chukchi Sea is home to one of two U.S. polar bear populations, and scientists say global warming is causing serious melting of Arctic sea ice, the bear's primary habitat. The department proposed possibly listing the bear as threatened - triggering gre

There is a practical solution, plug-in hybrids. Even using coal for energy they are cleaner. And the days of coal are numbered! Solar electricity is cheaper, and we will have windfarms when Teddy Kennedy gets off his horse's ass and allows the windfarm off of Nantucket Sound.

What else can we do? We can cut down on our use of oil by eating vegetarian.

Even when common sense idea's abound and stares one in the face humans will & do defy the obvious!!!!!!!!

How did early man travel from his beginnings to Europe and beyond?

He walked!!!!! Man has become a gluttenous pig.......Take what you need......Not what you want!!!!!!!

They took all the trees
And put them in a tree museum
And they charged all the people
A dollar and a half just to see'em.
Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you've got
Till it's gone.
They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot.

Polar bears aren't in danger from "global warming" See
http://canadafreepress.com/index.php/article/1626

The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service estimates that the polar bear population is currently at 20,000 to 25,000 bears, up from as low as 5,000-10,000 bears in the 1950s and 1960s. A 2002 U.S. Geological Survey of wildlife in the Arctic Refuge Coastal Plain noted that the polar bear populations “may now be near historic highs.” The alarm about the future of polar bear decline is based on speculative computer model predictions many decades in the future. And the methodology of these computer models is being challenged by many scientists and forecasting experts. (LINK)

There's lots more. Take a look at the expert opinion

I'd like to share a Soul Echoes blog entry I wrote back in May of last year: A Well Placed Concern ~ http://quilloftheheart.blogspot.com/2007/05/well-placed-concern.html. My point in sharing is that I do believe it took the reports of dying polar bears to make everyday media start a more concerted effort at even 'talking' about Global Warming and Going Green. I also believe that the big oil men aren't concerned with our concern for wildlife.

Thanks for the article! And Blessings, L.L.

The Bush administration will not stop until they have destroyed everything in their path. Never forget that they come from oil backgrounds....and have no concern for anything but greed.

Absolutely Judy, we should all get informed on the issue - but not simply rely on what you feed us :)

Here are many new reports from the USGS

If you rather not wade through all of these current reports, the Executive Summary contains the highlights:

Thank you, Darlene W. I haven't forgotten the Bushs' ties to oil! I know they believe they are sitting pretty on top of the masses.

The more oil taken from wherever will create an ever larger consumeristic society which in turn will create so much more clutter & waste........................

When will we ever learn the old ways were so much better. Wall Street/Madison Ave/Hollywood are the driving force behind want as opposed to need.........Behind all of that is purebred human greed that surpasses any greed that "may" exist in the animal world.

When will man learn that being hip or in vogue is the stepping stone to our demise..........Think of need not greed or want when you shop.............

Learn to live a simpler lifestyle that in and of its' self can & should become hip............

Think green..........Think of life.......Plant Life......Plant trees..................
