How To Know If Your Congressional Representative’s Selling You Out

In case you haven’t noticed (I sure haven’t), we’re in the midst of an economic recovery — one where the top 1% has gobbled up 93% of it, according to economist Emmanuel Saez. Here’s a handy little chart to see who the One Percent’s "legal enablers" — aka congressional legislators — truly are. Find your district, help your friends find theirs as well, and rock the vote!

Click for the interactive map to see how your representative voted in Congress on matters of economic inequality, which rates congressional representatives on a range of “most 1% friendly” to “most 99% friendly.” As you can see, Seattle is in good hands (way to go, Jim!).
ORIGINAL: By the Institute for Policy Studies from their "Inequality Report Card" report. Found on Mother Jones.

I follow the daily sessions and the Congressional calendar. I use the Internet to do this and even when people were complaining that they didn't know what was in the ACA, many of us did know, we read it daily and there were no surprises, nothing hidden. I follow on Thomas.local.gov/ which is the site for the one place that has always been charged with the duty of making the daily activities of the Congress and the president open and available to all of us - The Library of Congress. Know your government, know what is going to happen, and don't wait to let them know where you stand. Call your Senators and District representatives, write letters, send post cards, voting is only one part of the process of being a citizen. Sign petitions - but follow up with phone calls, which must be recorded for the Library of Congress. Don't complain that you don't know when you can know, with just a little follow through.

Thanks Kit for sharing with everyone how they can hold their representatives accountable and know what's going on without waiting on someone to develop an interactive map on the subject to make it feel easier (it really isn't that hard once you start). You cannot currently send a star to Kit because you have done so within the last week.

The unlimited money associated with the Citizen's United decision makes it considerably easier for an elected official to sell us out. Bribery used to be against the law, now it is a way of doing politics.
I hate the thought of our Democracy being for sale.
