Tell Congress: Listen to the geeks, not the CEOs

CEOs are urging Congress to make deep spending cuts, but when it comes to the so-called "fiscal cliff," Congress needs to listen to the geeks, because they get stuff like math and science right.

The geeks were right about the elections, and they were right about the weather. Now, Campaign for America's Future has organized 350 economists and academics who are warning that cutting government spending is the exact opposite of what should be done while our economy is still recovering. Instead, they say we need to keep focusing on creating more jobs.

Join Daily Kos and Campaign for America's Future by telling your member of the House of Representatives to listen to the 350 economists who say it is time to focus on jobs, not austerity. (You can personalize your email)

Good grief! The spending cuts will cut the very programs the people in the nation actually rely on while trying to find work. Stop outsourcing all these jobs and start investing in the nation's economic health. Repeal and redefine Capital Gains which is where combined with Delaware/Kale the upper ten percentile avoid paying taxes and hedge fund managers get away with paying very little on two streams of income. Shut down the FED and take back the 17% handling tax the US government pays it on every dollar issued. That tax is not going into Treasury coffers; it's going into the wealthy 1%'s pockets outside of the nation.

If they want to know how well austerity works all they have to do is take a look at Europe. After almost 5 years of austerity Europe is on the verge of going back into recession and one that could be worse than the last one which they never really got out of because of all of their cuts that resulted in fewer jobs. Increased tax revenue is the way out of this mess and the way to do that is to increase the number of people paying taxes by creating MORE JOBS!!

My exception is the Pentagon cuts...they need to stand--even the Pentagon agrees with these cuts. We have hundreds of military bases worldwide that are unnecessary....and we need to pull out of Afghanistan Now...not later. I say, "Let the Sequestration stand" and press Congress for middle-class tax cuts first thing in the new year.

I think we can both stop sequestration on everything else yet preserve the Pentagon cuts if our leaders choose. You cannot currently send a star to Lois because you have done so within the last week.
