Meet The Company Thatís Been Robbing You Blind

Meet Luxottica, the monopoly you never knew existed. Learn from the good folks at "60 Minutes" why the brand has been hiding (5:12), how they overcharge you for frames (7:30), and why their excessive dominance is bad for everyone (9:00). I wear glasses and I am outraged by how this company operates. Now I want that laser eye surgery more than ever.

UPDATE: I've heard that this can't be seen by international viewers. Sorry about that. Some of our readers have reported this link works for international viewing.
ORIGINAL: By "60 Minutes." Found by Upworthy intern Wyatt "Memeable" Miller, who also shares my four-eyed rage.

I knew it existed. It certainly owns many many many brands that are now all Made in Italy. Its glasses are certainly very very expensive. But it's the reality of today's corporate greed. Just walk into a Bed, Bath & Beyond and walk out with stuff that you think it's cheaper, because it's all made in China, but you're still getting robbed blind, you just don't notice. Whatever happened to those marvelous Cannon branded 100% made in usa cotton towels?!? Wow! They were of great quality, and lasted forever! Whatever happened to the GE washing machines that used to last for two generations in the family?!? Corporations are aspiring for "infinite demand", so they create and market accordingly, including the exact expiration of your product. Have you heard of the scandals in Italy with many Olive Oil producers adding chlorophyll to their oil to make it look green? Then they just design some new fancy bottle. How many deceptive marketing practices are on the shelves today? Thousands! I myself buy Californian Organic Olive oil, and as an Italian can tell you it smells and tastes like heaven. Consumers, read your labels, make your own decisions, support your local producers.
