Good ideas. Already done many of them. Working on the solar-izing of the home aspect. Can't afford to go totally off the grid at this point, but looking to go solar with the hot water heater, and possibly A/C (live in semi-tropical climate). At our ranch looking into wind energy. Need to get my math/science oriented son to go into green energy instead of thinking about being a teacher/coach!

You are welcome Nicole! Karen, kudos for recognizing that such pledges are designed to remind us of what we may all be able to do, but aren't yet doing and to continue to do what we are doing. Research indicates that when we make such pledges more of us follow through with the promised actions than if we do not make such pledges--thus getting pledges in front of as many as possible is one of the strategies being used to address major problems and issues that require multifaceted approaches. This pledge also includes choices for those not yet connected to nature to become connected and thus value it in addition to beginning steps of political action and engagement--one of the major areas needed to solve the current environmental needs of the earth. Thus Kit, even this pledge recognizes that it is only a piece of what we all must do.
