Pledge Your Support for the Hyatt Global Boycott

Hyatt has singled itself out as the worst hotel employer in America. Hyatt has abused housekeepers and other hotel workers, replacing longtime employees with minimum-wage temporary workers and imposing dangerous workloads on those who remain. In response, UNITE HERE and its members have taken bold steps to end mistreatment, including strikes, picket lines, and now a global boycott of Hyatt.

The California Labor Federation strongly urges all working families to avoid patronizing Hyatt until the workers win their fight for justice. Most Hyatt hotels in California and worldwide are included in the boycott, with the exception of those with current collective bargaining agreements, including the Hyatt Hotel on Highway One in Monterey, Hyatt Regency Monterey, Hyatt Regency Mission Bay Spa and Marina in San Diego, Hyatt Place in San Jose and Hyatt Regency San Francisco Airport, as well as a dozen other Hyatts in other states and countries.

No respect for workers, no business!

I was at work many years ago now, working late. The office janitors came in and asked my permission to start their work. It was not a problem for me so they began. At one point, the wife of the husband and wife team came to me and said "How come you talk to us? We're just the janitors." I was floored, to say the least. What is it that we must categorise people into classes? Why do we feel the need to treat people differently based on what they do? I replied"Are you proud of the work you do? Do you do your best? You are not 'just janitors' but people providing a service. I couldn't clean the floors the way you do, knowing what products to use. You are people and deserve my respect." To me, such is the attitude that the Hyatt should have. Wasn't Leona Helmsley, the Queen of Mean, a Hyatt person? I don't know, but by the sounds of it, the attitude fits.
