I think the verdict is in on our energy problem: We've got to go green, pronto (Hulk-style). I wonder how far ahead we'd be if more people had listened to Tesla when he was alive.

I was reading Chekhov's "Uncle Vanya" again the other day. He talks about how the forests are being cleared and if they carry on at that rate there'll be none left. It leaps off the page at you because it could have been written today.

So there were people 100 years ago who could see what was coming. Tesla was surely one of them. The Greenhouse Effect was first proposed as early as 1824. But no-one listened.

Thanks for the post. Yes, Angelica and Brian are correct.
I think, Angelica, that people do not listen to the wise because to really listen, to really pay attention, would demand that they change something in their ways, that might be inconvenient (as in Al Gore's movie), might tend to cost something in the short run, which is what tooooo many people focus upon, or both. Listen to the words of the Beatles' song "The Fool on the Hill." His contemoraries see him as a fool, as, perhaps Tesla's did, but he knows somethings of which they can't conceive.
Google Tesla, you might be amazed.

Thanks J.L. for the link Tesla was an amazing man! What would he really think if he were here today? Would any one listen to what he might have to say or any thoughts he might have on improving the technology we have now? Viewed and noted.

One of my heroes, his goal was to provide "free" energy to the world but in a society of greed (things haven't changed much) that was not to be. It is because of this genius that we have alternating current but sadly his fantastic accomplishments were overshadowed by someone I consider to be a charlatan Thomas Edison.

Lucky for us that many of his notes on alternative energies are coming out so they can be used for good purpose.

There is absolutely NO REASON to be on any CORPORATION grid system for power of any kind.

There is NO REASON to purchase GASOLINE to burn in a combustion engine as they were outdated 100 years ago. Did you know gasoline is a waiste by-product and they didn't quite know how to get rid of it, much like flouride dumped in our drinking water supply, hence the combustion engine for profit instead of the expence to discard it. Thank you JPMorgan. How Rediculous is it to spend $5;00 a gallon to have the right to drive 20 miles or so on the public roads we as taxpayer have already paid for.
WE HAVE BEEN SCREWED EVERY WAY IMAGINABLE BY CORPORATIONS.
People should really do their homework on the Tesla story because it can all change for the better when enough people WAKE-UP and the Gov for what they are.

Interesting man. Makes me think of all of important times that statement "We should of listened to" has been said. Sorry to say it's always after tragic events have happen. When will our World ever take a step back to take a good look at what is going on NOW? It's what they are doing today that is going to continue to destroy the environment. Thanks J. L.

Why anyone would bring a child into this world now
based on Mary L.'s comment is beyond my comprehension.
There is going to be alot of deaths & dying just down the
road and it is happening in slow motion and that is the
great deception most of mankind is under the spell of.
And none of the television network are going to be able
to show this as a live telecaste!

When I saw the headline, at first I thought it might be about David Suzuki. Tesla was interesting for sure. Just goes to show there are always people who can see what is coming along in the future, it's just that nobody listens or takes them seriously.

Think PEACE, rather than warmongering, to save on fuel and air pollution. The bloated, incompetent, US military, churches, school/universtiy sports programs should all take a serious look at how they can cut consumption of fuel and all forms of energy. Hey folks, this is the only planet we have; can't go to a 'Mart' (Walmart, K Mart, etc) and buy a replacement. Critical thinking, please.

Thanks J.L. He is a man I've admired for many years, along with Edison and Einstein. Was just reading a couple of days ago about some of his inventions. If the P.TB's and the companies (DuPont was one) who paid for his research would have gone ahead with many of his energy inventions, this world would be a much cleaner, healthier, and intelligent world. However, several of his ideas would have meant "free" to consumers energy. The money-makers would have no way (at that time) of billing consumers for products! Well, you know the outcomes of those decisions. Any productive research that gets in the way of Profits, is squashed, hidden, burn all the data, kill the messenger, whatever it takes. I encourage anyone who is interested, to view Tesla's life, it and he are fascinating!
