Fact: Right now, a special United Nations panel is creating a new global plan to fight extreme poverty and preventable disease. But, this new plan must include the input of the world's poorest people and ensure that every penny spent is tracked and delivers results.

The next meeting for this special UN panel is only three weeks away. ONE is working to open the process for citizens’ views to be heard and we'll be there with a global petition speaking up for the world's poorest.

That's why I'm asking you to sign our petition TODAY and call on the world leaders chairing this high-level panel to develop a plan that reflects the views of the world's poorest.

The petition reads:

Dear Prime Minister Cameron, President Johnson-Sirleaf, and President Yudhoyono,

As you create a plan to end extreme poverty, please ensure it reflects the views of the world's most vulnerable people and that it's goals are specific, measurable and accountable.

Click here to add your name now.

In 2000, 189 nations unanimously agreed on a bold new vision to tackle global poverty by 2015 called the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). Great progress has been achieved since then. Countries like Ethiopia and Ghana are slashing poverty rates like never before.

Sadly, a few others have lagged. But ONE believes that a plan built on more transparency and greater accountability will turbo charge this progress going forward. That’s something to believe in -- and fight for.

Thanks for stepping up and standing up.

Happily noted, signed, twittered and google shared. It is about time that the world started to take action to help the poor and all people who live in areas where disease is rampant. Thanks J.L.

Dear Director Ben Leo,
Your comment above is indeed a stimulus impulse to have all hands on deck and take action for a just cause. Thank you.
As a humanist and former USAF and US Army ‘ CHAMPUS’ Consultant Physician at Europe, Middle-East and Africa Command headquartered in Germany, I have for decades been involved to bring in-depth health care and education expertise to cross-border, cross-cultural bases and make the difference. I have sent my Green Star but now is the moment to make that visible and palpable difference to move millions out of poverty and disease and change their life positively.
As CEO of Help Point Int. Foundation, I have taken the actions to synergize today’s modern ICT technology with medicine and biosciences and help meet needs of poor people in African communities.
For decades, the issues of corruption, lack of transparency, conflict of interest and accountability at the door steps of some African governments have prevented achieving the results targeted by United Nation, Millennium Development Goals (MDG) .
Your active participation is sought to synergize Help Point Foundation efforts and override the hurdles and challenges. Agenda designed for the following intervention are ready:
1. Make Malaria History in Sub-Saharan Africa
2. Uplift quantitative and qualitative training of Doctors, Nurses, Midwives and Health care assistants to enable timely access to adequate and appropriate medical care possible for millions of citizens who have never seen a Doctor in their life!
3. Launch food security and farmers economic empowerment programs to eliminate hunger and poverty endemic amongst grass roots populations in Africa.
I have sent you my Green Star to drive more Advocacies. But this not enough, we all must now move to the front-line taking action to resolve inequality manifested in lack of access to medical care, water, food, electricity, education, adequate housing to make better life possible for millions.
UN, Secretary General, Ban Ki-Moon said that we must stop exclusion and in-equalities in this world to enable just society and enduring peace evolve. This is why the Secretary General launched the special UN panel called the High Level panel (HLP) to chat the roadmap for effective intervention that will make the difference.
This is why I propose joint action with your policy board or your most appropriate platform at TAKE ACTION, to join me and co-launch ‘ NOW IS THE TIME TO MAKE THE DIFFERENCE AND MAKE POVERTY, DISESASES AND WANT HISTORY IN AFRICA’
Proposals will then be sent to the special United Nations panel created to fight extreme poverty disease. Towards this, I have taken the following action as CEO, Help Point Foundation.
1. Action to brief the African Leaders Malaria Alliance (ALMA )Advisory panel chaired by President Ellen Johnson of Liberia .She together with British Prime Minister Cameroon co-chair the special UN panel.
2. Action to brief Japan International Development Agency (JICA) President in preparation for TICAD V
( Tokyo International Conference on African Development ) coming up in Yokohama Japan, June 1-3, 2013.--- We met the JICA President Dr. AKAHIKO TANKA last week in New York and were informed that US$ 4 Billion is ready to be deployed during the TICAD-V Conference for the development of Africa . We solicited to deploy low-cost , high speed Broadband internet and mobile phone and Telemedicine access points to remote and rural areas in Africa and also train Doctors and Nurses where there are less than 50 Doctors to 100,000 patients.
We will use America Government Medical Education Partnership Initiative (MEPI) program to improve the quality of medical education in Africa.
Cables connecting Europe and America are already laid in West Africa. This will serve as vehicle to deliver appropriate, adequate and timely care to unreachable citizens in rural communities where 75% of Africans reside. Currently, near zero roads infrastructure make delivery of medicines and access to timely care impossible in remote areas.
Help Point Foundation is also in the Bi-National, multi-lateral partnerships of Africa nations with American Government. We are adviser to African Leaders Malaria Alliance ( ALMA) to Nigeria’s Presidential Platform on Ethics and Standards and to Tanzania Government.
Your feed-back concerning best practice and procedure to collaborate with TAKE ACTION will be most appreciated.
As soon as I get this, I will send you proposals for immediate submission to Malaria Global Funds where
( US $ 1.9 Billion ) stand ready this year to take action and make the difference.
