Starbucks CEO Serves A Grande Cup Of 'Shut The Hell Up' To Anti-Gay-Marriage Activists

When Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz openly supported a marriage equality bill in Washington state, there were a few people who weren't happy about it. Some of them attended a shareholder meeting and complained about the decision citing a slightly disappointing stock price over the last quarter. Let's just say Schultz didn't apologize. Check out 0:52 for his perfectly timed parting shot.

I'll just have to take their word for it as the sound quality was so poor that I could not really understand most of what he was saying. So in "blind faith" I cheer him! :-) Thx JL

I've seen this video before and would watch it again. I did watch it again. Not many CEO's of any corporation have the guts to say, don't like it - leave. I may not like Starbucks coffee, that's an issue I have with the taste. To me a coffee should be bold, mature and dark roasted. One should not taste a "burnt" flavor, but who can argue with the success of Starbucks? Form a business point of view, Schultz is looking after the future growth of his company, and accepting the stark reality of change.

I will be so glad when we finally reach a point in our social evolution when words like "we embrace diversity in our employees" lose all meaning. We embrace our employees. End - Period.

Thank you for posting this, Judi.

Although I subscribe to Upworthy, I never took the time (as happens more frequently than I like to admit) to actually view the video.

Now, I have . . . and KUDOS to Howard Schultz! (And you.)

You are welcome Carole. Some people find it helpful to hear examples of the right things to say and then they have an easier time speaking up in like circumstances.
You cannot currently send a star to Kit because you have done so within the last day.

And it's a home run! Now, would you like that hot or iced! Nice to see a CEO with actual balls that can set an example worth setting. Noted, twittered and google shared. Thanks JL.

Thanks J.L. for the link to the video. I like Agelika had difficulty hearing the audio and had to listen three times to finally hear hear his statement. Glad I did though. Kudos to Mr. Schultz. Viewed and noted.

Good job.....keep up the good work..! Amazing, a CEO of a large corporation who is an independent thinker........ I'm thankful and hope it gives others the courage to evolve from the delayed development of being a caring human being......... Thanks for sharing J.L
