Our nation is currently reinventing its health care system, struggling to meet the imperative to improve care, improve health outcomes and reduce costs. One of the best tools available to improve care is authentic patient and family engagement.

While this looks good on the surface (so far, no telling what the real columns will offer, this is more of an intro) I am not convinced that it might not be some "tool" /backdoor to shift some of the overboarding work medical staff always have onto family members..cannot see either where the cost saving part comes in and finally, I question whether clinicians etc are really so interested in their patients..?..Thx JL

You are welcome Angelika. Those seem to be valid concerns to watch for as this proceeds. You cannot currently send a star to Angelika because you have done so within the last day.

Sounds great, but I just wonder how you get doctors, nurses, techs, and administrator all actually working for the goal of patient care. I haven't seen it yet. Seems to me they are all working for health industrial complex, too big to fail, unless you consider unnecessary death as a failure. I do.

When they are all owners of the HMO, PPO, etc. and quality of care measures, including patient satisfaction surveys, are a component of their compensation it seems to become more of a factor Kit. You cannot currently send a star to Kit because you have done so within the last day.

SPAM - FLAGGED!

I guess I should have said, how do get the "co-op" idea within some thing as monolithic as our health care system.

Thanks for flagging Kit. Bloomington, MN has one and there's a larger one in the state of WA.

Have we forgotten that hospitals and Big Medicine are all about for the most part; PROFIT? It looks good but let's see if they follow through.
