the BLM (bureau of Land Management) also takes over land that has been designated as a Monument to be protected and leases it to big business which often destroys that precious land

The fact that recreation had far more jobs and more economic benefit than timber and grazing combined for OR captured my attention first. Oftentimes local communities are invited to the table for planning discussions and proposals--so being armed with these kind of data could help in the preservation aspects.
