Now a new report from the UC Berkeley Center for Labor Research shows just how widespread the problem is, projecting that as many as 380,000 workers for big companies will end up on the state's Medi-Cal program by 2019.

"Central to the Affordable Care Act is the idea of shared responsibility"- an idea totally unknown in corporate capitalism.. Another proof this Obamacare can be no more than a step on the way to a single payer. Thx

It's really simple to 'cure' this 'habit'. Just stop shopping where the owners are showing more greed for themselves than for their employees, and even their customers. If I recall correctly, Walmart started out selling most all their products as 'made in the USA', which now as we all know too well, are mostly made in China. Walmart owners don't even care about obtaining products from other poor countries.
Greedy bunch of owners they are!

I refuse to shop at Walmart, ever. I am not well-to-do by any means, but Walmart is too despicable my conscience to allow me to shop there.

Signed * I have seen this treatment happen! Limit the hrs worked to 20 and they don't qualify for company benefits but they qualify for Aid from the government. They can't work 2 jobs or 3 that they need because their schedules are made out by the managers and are different each week. 20 hrs at minimum wage doesn't do much! The managers get big BONUSES for doing this! When the 20 hrs are up they get sent home regardless! These people want to work more hours but are not allowed. Therefore US the Taxpayer are a Subsidy for these companies! Most of these companies have been told not to speak of Unions! Some companies even ask how you vote! This is intimidation and when they only make minimum wage this goes easy for the company, they love to do this. Since the people need the job, best never to say anything about yourself when working these places, the less they know the better off you are they use it against you!
Yes stand up to these companies! Make them PAY A BIG FINE!!
I also Never shop at Walmart but if you do GO IN MAKE SURE YOU ASK WHERE THE THINGS ARE MMADE IN THE USA they will put SECURITY ON YOU IN A FLASH!!! THEN YOU CAN LAUGH!

Bill and Katie.....you speak words of Truth! Unfortunately, since the Planned economic collapse, the majority of the jobs that are coming back are low wage, no benefits, and part-time. Most of us will be living in a world we will hardly recognize anymore. This is the leveling that a Global economy does, some rise up in their Countries while others sink. The Corporations have no loyality to Countries, the Profit motive is god, so how a particular people are doing in any Country really isn't a concern to them. If your leadership isn't concerned either, then it is sink or swim, but you are on your own. Is why the people themselves will have to Unionize, if you wait for a Corporation or Government to feel badly for you, you wait forever.

I don't shop at Walmart; never have, never will at least as long as I have a choice and even then......
These companies need to be fined at least ten percent of their yearly gross for doing this. If they don't then their licences should be revoked until they do. Given the shrinking testicles of our leaders I doubt that's going to happen any time soon.

Walmart is on my list of NEVER GO THERE places and right up on top of my horrible corporation's list along with Nike too. They, though I believe UPS had the idea first, don't hire, or try not to, any full time workers so they can avoid paying benefits. I thought it stunk when UPS started doing that and it is worse with Walmart because they are so big and so everywhere - most of their workforce has no health care, can't afford it, often qualify for food stamps because their incomes are so low. And if you speak against them, you're gone. Horrible corporate citizenship. I wonder how Sam's kids sleep at night, besides on their uber costly bedding, I mean.
