This is heartwarming as all hell. Would you have had this kind of courage?

Feel good story. and I am very HAPPY to see so much love and caring, in a world where we focus too much on the EVIL.
Yes, I would also be defending her.

Okay, first. I am of the generation that was raised with a show called Candid Camera. I hated it. Its whole purpose was to make fun of other people, get them to do something silly, stupid, laugh at them, not with them. I am NEVER okay with that. I don't watch reality shows, I don't watch any show that has its characters treat each other disrespectfully. There are authors I stopped reading for the same reason as I found, in me, this distaste for putting other people in awkward situations for the purpose of making fun of them didn't lessen as I aged, it grew stronger.

That said, I nearly clicked off this video as soon as I found there was an actor present. I'm glad I didn't though, I am glad I stayed through it. It gives me hope. Hope that we as a species are evolving toward love in a world where too often it feels as if we are going the other direction. I found myself proud of those people who weren't in on the "joke". It felt in a way as if they were trying to find cretins, didn't like that feeling, but instead found nuggets of gold in that diner of sand. I know this is a problem transgendered people, gay people face daily, to see that "real world" people have come this far is a good thing. I found myself wondering how any republican politician wandering into that diner would have reacted, how a person of the cloth might have reacted. Isn't it interesting that if you change one letter you get created instead of reacted, creator instead of reactor? The creator's of the film found people who reacted wonderfully well. I was proud of the civilians I wish our leaders were as open minded.

Well I'm so glad that all the individuals were not narrow minded in this case, and I hope that this is a sign of things to come, that there will be no judgement on peoples sexual preference! In the end we are all just people living life the best way we no how!! Thank you JL.

I was pleasantly surprised by the reactions of the "bystanders" in this situation. Hopefully their behavior is indicative of the general public becoming more open-minded.

Wonderful to see people standing up for another enduring pointless prejudice. Well said, Gene Jacobson!

Amen to all the reactions! Now would someone please record so Republican/Teabagger politicians so their constituents can see just how bigoted they are!

The respondents in this clip I hope represent the majority.

Great comment Gene.

There are a few people right here on Care2 that NEED to see this Video!
{You know who you are, if you're reading this!}

But I find it AMAZING - and super-wonderful! - that a RANDOM sample of "average" Americans in a Diner - would be 100% accepting and say such LOVELY things!
