Quote from article:
"The FBI and authorities in New Zealand have suffered a blow in their pursuit of Kim Dotcom and Megaupload, after a New Zealand court ordered them to return his personal data from the service that was seized during raids last year. Furthermore, they must specify exactly what information is at the core of their case against the file-sharing service.

High Court Justice Helen Winkelmann ruled (once again) that the raid on Dotcom’s mansion in January 2012 was illegal due to incorrect warrants. Today, the Justice ordered the national police to return to Megaupload any digital data they possess that is not relevant to the case, as Stuff NZ reports.

Likewise, Justice Winkelmann ordered the FBI to destroy any clones of Megaupload hard drives that contain personal information or other information that are not part of the case. Dotcom and his fellow defendants must be given copies of the hard drives that the US will use to support its case, she ruled."

What's this personal privacy issues over the FBI? Say it isn't so, Toto. The more I see from New Zealand and how they protect the rights of their citizens, the more impressed I am.

The FBI forgot that warrants must be legal and specific to the charges. No carte blanche over there.
