Noted. I agree with Carol: the world is over populated and the food supply cannot meet the demand of soooooo many new people being born everyday, specially in the poorest countries where hunger is a major problem. We have to believe something can be done, but its a really a complex issue that should be tackled from several angles. Thanx JL.

It's a nice sentiment but it's never going to happen. The complaint that I have with this article is as usual: the UN is the lap dog puppet of the 1%. The 1% through their corporations have created the conditions through austerity economics; unsupportable debt; destruction of their infrastructures; environmental destruction; war wherein they fund both sides - I could go on but I won't. I think you get the gist of how they maximize profit; suffering in its many forms and minimize their responsibility through their created agencies such as the UN or foundations such as the Ford Foundation [CFR] or the Lucius Trust [Rockefeller] for example.
It's very Hegelian and utopia has always been something that originated in a pipe bowl. The entire universe in the third dimension is a very violent, unforgiving place - for the most part.

Since being lapdogs has been proven to be ineffective, current policies and strategies of the UN are now designed to prevent the corporate damage Theodore speaks about that was historically true. You cannot currently send a star to Theodore because you have done so within the last day.

This is such a sad situation that effects the whole world. Unfortunately I think it always has and always will be. I that it's just inevitable. People are just multiplying to fast and no one is doing anything about it.

Pure Hegelian dialectic - thesis, antithesis, synthesis. You create the problem and then you create the solution or at lest appear to create one. It's a great way to create more profit. I would love to see a world in which there was no overpopulation; no starvation; the environment was treated with the respect it deserves but as Theodore says it was dream that came out of someone's pipe bowl. I think Jesus hit the nail on the head when he answered the poor you always have with you [paraphrase and probably out of context - however].

A lot of problems from overpopulation to drought and other climate factors totally out of our control, not to mention greedy corporations who certainly won't be giving out much of their profits to better humankind. So many other reasons such as corrupt politicians, economic systems that are unfair and many others too numerous to mention.

Malnutrition stunts economic growth, and much more, just as a lack of a decent education does.
So, WHY in hell are the Repugs in Pennsylvania fighting for still more tax breaks ($300 million) at the expense of education??
You have to vote these jackasses out! These tax breaks will not "trickle down" to the larger economy, never do!
