We’re calling it “160 Summer.”

Not 160 degrees — although sometimes it feels just about that hot during the summer here in Washington, D.C.

It’s 160 for how many members of Congress we plan to enlist this summer in the next phase of our Democracy Is For People campaign to overturn Citizens United — the disastrous 2010 Supreme Court ruling that allows corporations and billionaires to spend as much money as they want trying to influence elections.

Sign our petition TODAY urging your members of Congress to join you and millions of other Americans in supporting a constitutional amendment to overturn Citizens United.

As of today, we have 22 senators and 107 representatives.

We’ll be working on Capitol Hill and in legislators’ home districts to make that 30 senators and 130 representatives by August 1.

Step 1 is for your senators and representative to hear from their constituents — and that includes you.

Add your name to the petition right now.

Our Democracy Is For People campaign has generated undeniable, nationwide grassroots momentum for an amendment.

Already, 15 states and some 500 cities and towns from coast to coast have formally called on Congress to pass an amendment.

So let’s make sure our elected officials in Washington, D.C., get with the program.

One way your senators and representative can demonstrate their responsiveness to the overwhelming will of the people — which is, after all, what they were elected to do — is by co-sponsoring an amendment.

Urge your members of Congress to support a constitutional amendment to overturn Citizens United.

And here’s extra incentive for anyone who lives in one of the 15 states — California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Montana, New Jersey, New Mexico, Rhode Island, Vermont and West Virginia — that has already called for an amendment:

There are 67 members of the U.S. House of Representatives from those states who have not yet signed on as co-sponsors of an amendment.

If their constituents back home want an amendment, why aren’t these members of Congress on board?

Add your name to the petition now.

Thanks for taking action.

Signed and shared - we do need to over turn this if we are really concerned about Ca$h for Congre$$.

Now, thanks to SCOTUS following not the constitution but partisan politics, we need to be ready to fight for voting rights as well.

Gladly signed. What was the Supreme Court thinking? Those who voted for this must have been thinking about lining their pockets.
