Police officers are forcing people to choose between time behind bars or turning over their money and property -- all without ever making an arrest. Fight civil asset forfeiture abuse. #prisonprofiteers

Profit is corrupting the U.S. criminal justice system. You've heard that before. But the problem is even more vast than you may have realized.

Watch these videos on two institutions with bad incentives that put money above safety: law enforcement and the bail industry. Then share on Facebook to inspire your friends to fight prison profiteering in America.

If you want to see more like this, check out the full Prison Profiteers series.

Keep fighting,

Jesse Lava, Robert Greenwald, and the Beyond Bars team

Signed * Guess don't carry any money on you? If they can take it away and it's just okay?
Take your car because they like it. Your property, Phone or anything else they can find. Now that destroys everything about a cop! We always thought they help you. Well. They found a way to be greedy B~~ ~~too!
Thank You JLA

Rotten police apples are rotten police apples and until they are thrown out of the barrel, we will always have problems due to people with less mentality than a flea. It's the tight pants, empty head syndrome. The rich will always have the money to pay off the police. Not all will do it, but like the rotten police apples, they should be thrown out of the barrel and treated to the realities of life.

This is called living in a police state. Our democracy has been gone for quite a while.

Where are these crazy police coming from? How they got the rules of their employee manual all turned around, I'll never understand. They were hired to serve and protect the citizen's of their state, not do evil to them. Thanks JL

Legalized extortion, by cops no less. I've said it before, the police are not your friends, they are not there to protect you from anything, they can't be bothered if you have been broken into and have your prized possessions stolen. If that happens they come and berate you for not having your doors and windows barred, for not having everything you own engraved with your information, for you not having an inventory of everything you own with serial numbers and documentation of where and when and how much you paid. Do not talk to the police, do not cooperate with the police and above all do not call the police to your home as you are inviting them to kill you, your pets or your kids. They just don't seem to have the brain power to determine if the situation is "dangerous to them", to them, not to you. By the way, they'll kill your dog just on their own fears the dog "might" be a threat.
