If you're arrested, you can pay a hefty sum or sit in a cell waiting for trial. Don't have the funds? The for-profit bail industry can help -- for a big fee. Fight the prison profiteers at http://www.aclu.org/bail #prisonprofiteers

Our Justice System is pathetic. There should be no for profit prisons. It is in there best interest to fill those prisons whether the prisoner is guilty or not, just too poor to pay for a good lawyer. This system needs to end.

Thanks JL. Money buys a lot of things and sadly it buys people out of punishments they brought upon themselves and deprives them of lessons to reflect, grow and maybe become better people.

Our system of justice is a politically and greed driven shell game geared to favor the wealthy and oppress and rob the rest. We have a long way to go before there is REAL justice. .

Only 2 Countries in the world do a bail bonds system.......the USA and the Philippines. Go figure. Also in the USA we have the highest prison population in the world. Is this telling anyone anything?

Why anyone would want to move to this Country is beyond me. I think those who do still have the propaganda of how "exceptional" we are.

Only move here if you are rich, the rich LOVE it here. The poor and the shrinking middle class are at the mercy of every scam and scheme that the Greedy Ones can dream up.

One would figure ALEC was behind it.......if it ISN'T good for YOU.....ALEC IS there. Unless you are well to do then ALEC is your friend.

I have posted on my profile page our slots we are allowed to fill in this Country.....Consumer, Warrior, or Inmate and you are lucky if you get to choose which one. Not much of a choice but it comes down to that.

Actually, I think we will soon have to apologize for even questioning the rich. After all they are the new royalty and we need to worship them just like the politicians they own have been for the last 40 years. It will be very rough on us peons if we do not learn what to kiss and when as we bow before the Lords and Ladies. Future historians will really wonder why so many people bothered to vote just to vote against their own interests.

No!!! Bail should be set the same for the "poor" crimes as well as the "rich" crimes. A crime is a crime and there is no way to scale it back for the rich.

Well the workers no matter what they are paid are the Consumers. Consume a lot consume a little, if one can't buy anything then you must be expendable. You must be able to buy your food without Food Stamps is why the cutting back is going on. The Greedy Ones don't want to "help" you consume, you can't work to buy it they will not help you to consume it. Look at the way they want to get rid of or lower Social Security, those in life who had worked in the past are now up in age, so they are on their way out and therefore not considered unless they are also "wealthy" and up in age. The Elders if they have health insurance or only good for that "For Profit" market or the funeral business. I get advertisements weekly to consume for my funeral, I must of reached that magic age that I'm on the hit list.

The disabled are not working and are only good like the aged to help with the health care fiasco in this Country. If they can't afford it, well too bad, die, for obviously you do not have the money to consume. Same goes with the disabled Veterans, they did their Warrior thing, if they can't be Warriors anymore then they too are expendable, new younger Warriors are coming up and the Greedy Ones don't want to have to spend any money on the previous Warriors care. Why do you think the Greedy Ones fight so hard in not paying taxes?

The Prisoners can be used as slave labor, the Greedy Ones don't have to even pay minimum wage, and the few in the middle class that are left, along with the working poor can keep paying the taxes to keep them in a cell that the For Profit Prisons are lining someone's wallet. Just watch this video, just one of the ways they all make money off of the Prison Industrial Complex.

There are many ways to get former consumers in those beds by passing more laws making more things in life illegal, and preventing the poor from escaping these traps. If you can't pay a lot of things in this Country jail is on the horizon. Can't pay your ticket, it's in jail, can't pay to keep a roof over your head, that is cause to be locked up for trying to find a place to sit or lay down in many towns. Once in jail there is all sorts of ways to keep one there, longer sentences, 3 strikes you are in jail for life, and guards can set you up. Pay them just enough to keep being a consumer but not so much they will not take bribes. It's done.

Keep allowing the Corporations and the Wealthy to avoid taxes so that there is not enough money to support Public education, keep opening "for profit voucher schools" eventually those will turn into only those who can pay to have their children go to school will get an education. We will be back to the way it once was that only the well to do or the wealthy will be able to afford an education so that cuts back on consumers. But the Elites do not care if there are as many consumers in the USA because they are opening markets in other Countries that are building their middle class while ours is being destroyed. Without educations one will end up in the for Profit Prison system or a Warrior to protect the special interests of the Plutocrats.

They got it figured out now the FORMER CITIZENS need to figure it out. Because they stripped you of being a Citizen.

Noted w/thanks for posting, JL. Dandelion & others have said it all very well.....a very depressing Empire for those of us not in the 1% to be living in. And the way our returning veterans are being treated is despicable.....send them off to war multiple times, and they come home to perhaps a house in foreclosure, no decent job prospects, and at the end of an enormous line of red tape trying to attain medical care.
The whole private prison debacle just makes me sick. "For-Profit" prisons is as ridiculous as "For-Profit" healthcare. The quote about us being "boiling frogs" is certainly correct!

Nothing surprises me anymore. Our justice system and government in general seems only to work for the rich and wealthy.
The normal people get thrown into jail so the corporations can earn some money on them.

Good posting. I agree with what Dandelion and others stated. Sad to think that money can be used in such evil ways. Thanks JL

No it shouldn't. The biggest criminals around today are those employed by the Mega Corporations including our vaunted political leaders. Do you know who my dad is?
