I wanted to send you one last note to say thanks for helping us fight back against the oil and gas industry’s brazen plan to ship toxic fracking wastewater on our nation’s rivers.

With your help, last week we delivered nearly 30,000 comments to President Obama and the Coast Guard urging them to reject this dangerous proposal.

The oil and gas industry was trying to slip this one under the radar, but together, we proved once again that the public cares about protecting our waterways, health and environment. The Coast Guard will now consider all the comments and come to a decision. And we’ll be right there to keep fighting this until we win. Thanks again. We couldn’t have done it without you.

I also wanted to share with you a cool new tool we have to spread the truth about fracking and activate more people.

Martin Sheen’s Breakthroughs documentary program worked with Environment America this fall to produce a new expose on fracking that is now rolling out to public television stations in all 50 states, with the potential to reach 60 million households nationwide.

Narrated by Martin Sheen and filmed on location in Pennsylvania, the piece will allow public television viewers to hear from:

A Pennsylvania family whose well water was contaminated and a young child became ill after fracking operations commenced nearby;
Dr. Poune Saberi, who has examined health data from nearby residents and workers and believes that the numerous, documented cases of residents becoming ill near drilling operations are likely “the tip of the iceberg;” and
Lou Allstadt, former executive vice president of Mobil, explaining why he now sees fracking as inherently fraught with environmental destruction.

The Martin Sheen piece will be shown exclusively on public television, but you can also watch a version here.

We worked with the Breakthroughs team on this project from beginning to end, and the project was largely funded by our donors and contributors.

Educating people on the truth about fracking is an important part of our strategy to break the oil and gas industry’s veneer and fight back. Thanks for your support that helped make this possible!

Yours,

Margie Alt
Executive Director
Environment America

unable to sign but think Cher's had this one also before-and have just tonight heard the statements that Csar Sec Moniz made on CNN business-ha..they're NOT going to abandon their cash cow! He had the nerv to speak of "clean fuel technologies"- and the anchor, sitting in for Quest, was stupid enough (station's policy?!) ta ask him what about future energy/oil EXPORT, given the ongoing ban- he has "hopes" -now go figure! Seems to be happening all across the worlds, not just in America. Look at what Canadians have had to go through, and are still going through.

Thanks JL Pennsylvania is a State the gas companies drool over unconcerned with the damage their fracking is doing to us here.
