Thankfully there is a bill in the in the Assembly (SB 27) that will reveal these dark money sources. This bill will be voted on any day, so assembly members need to hear from us now.

Last election secretive out-of-state non-profits connected to the Koch brothers funneled $15 million of dark money into California. And that's just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to unlimited, undisclosed money influencing our elections.

Californians deserve to know who is behind these ads. Thankfully there is a bill in the in the Assembly (SB 27) that will reveal these dark money sources. This bill will be voted on any day, so assembly members need to hear from us now.

Sign the petition telling the Assembly to fight Dark Money and vote YES on SB 27!
This bill doesn't fix everything, but closing the anonymous donation loophole is a great first step, and one we need to take right away. SB 27 closes the loophole and stops billionaires and corporations from hiding behind secretive non-profits.

Sign the petition telling your Assemblymember to vote YES on SB 27!

Thank you for supporting this crucial bill. And thank you for uniting as a progressive,

Did you hear that last election secretive out-of-state non-profits connected to the Koch brothers funneled $15 million of dark money into California? And that's just the tip of the iceberg. Outrageous!

The FPPC was right to impose a record fine, but fines after the fact aren’t enough. Californians deserve full disclosure.

Sign the petition telling the Assembly to fight Dark Money and vote Yes on SB 27!
We need the California DISCLOSE Act, SB 52 (authored by Senators Mark Leno and Jerry Hill, sponsored by the California Clean Money Campaign), so voters know who's paying for political ads. It's the game-changing bill that passed in the Senate, and this year goes to the Assembly. But for it to work, we must also close the anonymous donation loophole.

The solution is SB 27 (authored by Senator Lou Correa and sponsored by the FPPC) that will stop billionaires and corporations from hiding behind secretive non-profits. It requires any group spending $50,000 on California elections to become a formal campaign committee, and report the contributors on the Secretary of State website for anyone to find.

Sign the petition telling your Assemblymember to vote YES on SB 27!

Here's what the petition says:

Secret spending by billionaires and other special interests needs to stop. Please vote Yes on SB 27 to make non-profit and other organizations reveal their contributors when they try to influence California elections.

SB 27 and SB 52 work together to reveal money in California politics. SB 27 closes a huge dark money reporting loophole, and SB 52 requires clear and prominent disclosure of funders right on the political ads themselves for voters to see. We need both.

Sign the petition now!

Thank you for your commitment to Clean Money and Fair Elections, and stay tuned for more ways you can help pass the California DISCLOSE Act. Together, we will bring a democracy that is truly of, by, and for the people.

Noted and signed. We need to change election law across the land to where it can only be funded equally out of tax funds - no private contributions, and each candidate and issue receives an equal amount of funding, so that the outcome of anything CAN'T be bought or sold.

Signed and shared - Though we really need to just end all dark money. I would be supportive of campaigns being financed only by public money and not one penny from corporations, with stringent limits on personal money given, that would include, dinners, use of planes, buses, trains etc....We do not really need our candidates paying for their own contingent of reporters, nor should we be choosing from an array of candidates bought an paid for by corporate or "think tank aka lobby" money. All of them democrat and republican are selling us to the highest bidder. Is that really what we want the USA to be about?
Thanks for the petition J L
