"The seven who were detained worked for the Sonora finance ministry and had direct responsibility for operating a warehouse full of tires and old files in the same building as the ABC nursery in Hermosillo, the state capital, where the fire broke out June 5, Sonora Attorney General Abel Murrieta said at a news conference.

Six other finance ministry officials are being sought in connection with the investigation into the fire, Mr. Murrieta said.

Seventeen children are still being treated in hospitals; many of them are in serious condition."

"The many questions surrounding the case have angered Mexicans, who have asked why a day-care center was allowed to operate in a place and in a way that appeared to have been unsuitable for a nursery."

This should not be about politics and it is despicable that they are shifting the blame back and forth..This should be about the death of those children..and the terrible neglect and unsafe dwelling they were subjected to..

No fire extinguishers...Smoke alarms that did NOT work..No safe emergency exit..It is unacceptable and I hope the people of Mexico stand strong against those that are responsible and guilty of this horrific tragedy..

Gee I seem to remember someone saying that what happened would garnish negligent homicide charges....

Wonder who that was.....I am old you know.

There are 13 altogether that the Mexican people are calling for their arrest in this horrific negligence..Hopefully the all will be charged..No one is above the law..nor should they be..

Well..Bill..we know not everyone thinks intelligently..reasonably..to say the very least..

In any event..thank goodness someone cared enough about these children that died due to neglect and being housed in such unsafe dwellings..because that is what is most important here..Justice for every baby..child suffering from burns and smoke inhalation..still in the hospital..and to all those precious children that lost their life due to this..And justice for the families who have suffered such a heartbreaking loss..

Thank you all for noting and commenting on this important story..

What happened that day in that day care..never should have happened..no one should have died or suffered..as many did..
