"One bill would require any driver involved in a collision that results in a death be subject to a breathalyzer or a blood test for alcohol or drugs.

Another would toughen penalties for operators of snowmobiles and Jet Skis acting under the influence of alcohol or narcotics.

Other bills would target reckless drivers by increasing fines and criminal penalties for motorists who violate the right of way of other motorists, motorcycle riders, bicyclists or pedestrians resulting in injury or death.

The bills are set to be heard Tuesday at a public hearing at the Statehouse before the Joint Committee on the Judiciary."

In my little humble opinion, they need to do more! Here in California if they see a driver driving wrong they can call the police. Also they have check points to people, but unfortunately, they do tell people on the news where the check points are which are totally NUTS in my opinion.

Drive Drunk get arrested, that is it. No attorneys etc. Go straight to Jail, the drunk driver is the one that survives and the other person dies...I am am firm person on having someone not drink and drive. Just Crazy! To much harm has been done to innocent people that are driving and get hit and killed...See it way to often here in California, bike riders, runners, etc. makes me just ill.

More Jail Time is needed, I don't want some person (like I see on T.V.) say they were not in their right mind and get out of it! Totally Wrong!!!!

I do beong to MADD!!!MOTHER'S AGAINST DRUNK DRIVERS!

Also, boat accidents here in California due to drunk people is obscene!

Great News Dee!!! Kudos to you!!! This needs to get out there and more laws and bigger fines and jail time for sure!

Personally, I am scared to death to drive at night when this idiots are out there. There needs to be a bigger watch on this...after the accident, in my opinion is way to late, catch the person when they are driving goofy!

Just my opinion and I am a strong supporter of this!!! Won't let any of my friends go out and even have one drink before they have some person who is having ice tea, water etc driving....way to scary for me!!!!
