Wandsworth Council has received massive backlash after confirming plans to axe 150-year-old trees in Chestnut Avenue. Residents concerned received a letter (August 31), detailing the order which comes into effect on September 12 over 6 months.

It would be so very sad to lose these trees - they are mature, and it would take a long time for any new trees, if planted, to reach the same size!

Why are these trees being removed? Are these people saying they're unsafe? Surely there has to be a logical reason. I thought preservation orders are used to protect trees! They have a D.N.A same as humans Iam told.
