Though their justification is environmental rather than animal, researchers at Utrecht University in the Netherlands are trying to grow meat in a lab, raising the possibility of a carnivorous diet disconnected from killing.

This is so science fiction! It's awesome! I'm not a vegetarian or anything, but I do like the idea of getting my chicken nuggets without anyone having to die. It's a win-win situation.

Jane, it isn't a waste of time if it can fulfill people's tastes and demands for meat without the brutal slaughter and suffering that goes on right now to obtain it. Literally BILLIONS of animals suffer and die each year to feed the palates of meat eaters. This could put an end to all that suffering...thus, it isn't at all a waste.
