It's still hard to believe that, with an apparent NINE MILLION users in Care2, only an average of five thousand members click on a daily basis! I don't even know what percentage that is, but I do know it's VERY LOW...

This has to be one of the EASIEST, QUICKEST ways of helping various causes for FREE, so why donīt people use this service?! It takes seconds, perhaps one minute if you click all the buttons, so whatīs going on?! I know this has been tried as news in the past, but very few people noted it. Letīs all make the effort, friends!!

Hereīs the general link: http://www.care2.com/click2donate/

And for those interested and who donīt know about it, thereīs also another great click-to-give site, where the Rescued Animals section is in need of clickers, as theyīve been losing them lately. You can have a polite reminder from them directly to your email and all you do is click on the link they send you and away you go! Easy!!! Plus each time you visit they present you a hear-warming story, including beautiful pictures, of rescued animals. Itīs well worth it!

You can find them here: http://www.theanimalrescuesite.com/clickToGive/home.faces?siteId=3

Thanks Marisa but I have been clicking for everything every day since Jan 5th. Never missed a day except when care2 was down. Everything that can be clicked - I click. That's the least I can do.

Donni, this is the best way to remember:

- Look at the top tabs (Home, My Care2, People, Groups, etc)
- Click on 'My Care2' and go to 'My Account'
- Under 'Account Management' youīll see 'Basics', and right below it 'Edit Basics': click on 'Edit Basics'
- Find the 'Post-login Page' option
- From the pull-down menu, choose 'Click2Donate'
- Make sure you click the 'Save Changes' button at the bottom!
- Then every time you finish in Care2, make sure you logout - but this last step is important, otherwise you wonīt get to the page when you come to Care2...

You only have to follow those steps once, and from then on, every time you log in, it will take you straight to the Click to Donate page, and away you go! Your clicks will take you an average of one minute if you click all of them, and thatīs a good deed for the day!!

Thanks!

Exactly Marena, it takes so little time and effort, doesnīt it? You know it and I know it, and about 5,000 of us know it, but we're supposed to be 9 million, so something is not working quite in the Caring2 way! If we Care, we click!

Thanks Marena.

Why do you think that only 3.000 people click2donate? Did you ever try to figure that out? I think that the thousands of clicks that i generate every day can do more good than the few clicks! Care2 can make a difference if we create traffic! I dont believe in click2donate! I believe in a strong community that can make a difference! I have no idea how Care2 could make more people participate in the activities! But i know that i create at least 4000-10.000 clicks each day! And thats my way to make a difference and to find out how we can fight for right and justice! Like our animal friends in Austria who are innocent! We can do so many things here in Care2 and everyone can choose his or her way to make a difference!
I have been clicking every day for 4 weeks until i had checked that i could do so much more by creating change! Its a slow process but it will work!
This world needs Change and we are the ones who can make a difference!
So send your e cards, petitions, action alerts, news, events and ideas to make a difference and dont forget to click each day!
Empty profiles dont click2 donate! 9.000.000 members dont click anything!
How many people would click if they could win a hybrid car or suv?
Why does Care2 dont try some tricks to push the members?
If you pay peanuts you get monkeys....

Hey Marisa,
Good for you making people aware!!
When I first joined C2 I didnt know it was FREE to donate and now am trying to make people aware about it.
C2 was overwelming for me....
but are getting into it slowly>click every day now and hoping that others are joining in too...
am sending this forward and stick to the subject free that would get the attention!!

Dear Marisa! When i started the true activists group i had this idea:

We believe that the care 2 community is able to do so much more!
We want to combine the efforts of all activists!

CARE2 can be the strongest social/eco community in the world!
With the help of the care2 management we will be able to activate the masses in care2!

But we must continue to improve care2! And make it much bigger and realy global!

Why cannot i find and contact all people who are interested in endangered species or animal welfare? The sytem allows this to care2 why not to the people and organisations who fight causes? It should be possible to invite all who care2
ANIMAL WELFARE: 73,835 Members Support this Cause
ENDANGERED SPECIES: 21,309 Members Support this Cause
ENVIRONMENT: 38,062 Members Support this Cause

As you can see i cannot find the 8.000.000 members here!
The management can.....

8 million members making a difference.. Imagine the impact!!!

The members that realy make a difference should all be invited to this group of true activists! We will share our suggestions and ideas to improve
the system!
Please invite all your friends i hope to see many new faces here!

How many true activists will sign up?
I hope 1% of all members!
I hope that care 2 will understand how important this is.

We are talking about 20.000 people who once stated that they care about endangered species i did not manage to find more than 350 so far... that is what Daphne means with Apathy.....the care2 management told me and has written that they cannot do more.... bad for them us and all endangered species animals and humans who need our help!

We need the support to get petitions realy going, i receive one petition up to 120 times within two days!!!! The system recognizes each visitor and can tell: thank you you have signed this petition.... Dont allow people to spam petitions just use the Members Database and show all members only petitions that they have not yet signed! Petition R Us the largest petition Group in Care2 should be the place where you can find all the petitions!

The petitions are the reason why i am here! We fight causes! I am sure that many of you have important causes! Find out how many members care about your causes! And ask care2 how we can reach all people who care2!

I know that we can protect all endangered species!
I know that we can stop the killing if the buying stops!
I know that we can, and will have to reduce our impact!
I know that we can help sick people better than the Pharma industry does!
Just take a look at the cancer research research of my good friend Cassie!
I know that we can free Schapelle Corby and many other innocent victims!
I know that we can help Africa!
I know that we can guarantee that all people on earth get clean water!

We need to combine efforts! And make sure that Care2 is realy about 8 million people making a difference!

well here's my two cents...someone says they care, but then decide not to use the click2donate feature cuz they can do better in other areas? I'm sorry, but that makes no sense at all to me. I do ALL I can, be it click a thousand times a day, sign petitions, cross-post info, make awareness...I don't see how it all can be accomplished if we start picking and choosing our particular "methods" of caring. I think every little contribution a person makes is significant, no matter how small someone else may think it is. I wish I had the answer to how to get people more involved, but things like that take time, you can't force someone to do anything. I have the click2donate buttons on my webpage to encourage people to use them. But, there are so many people on here so dedicated and selfless, I think we should applaude them instead of complaining of those that don't contribute. And, this is voluntary...we're not on the Price is Right to win prizes - FYI...

Thanks Marisa, I click everyday-unless I'm hospitalized as in for a Baclofen Pump replacement or a seizure-otherwise I am on here everyday of the week clicking for my babies, domestic abuse, breast cancer and of course, daily action. It doesn't stop there for me, however. I sign/fwd petitions to all my friends, send greenstars, and leave comments on my friends' pages, if I get the chance. I don't know what I'd do or where I'd be without Care2.

Keep clicking!!

Cher I., youīre absolutely right... maybe because it says Click to DONATE it sounds like you have to make a donation yourself! It should definitely say Click to Donate FREE, with the word free in caps! It may not make a massive difference, but even a little difference would be helpful. Every grain of sand counts.

Both the Rainforest click site and the Big Cats click site are like actual 'races' too: because they each have three options, I always count to see which of the three has fewer clicks and I click on that one... theyīre always VERY close, which goes to show everyone does the same thing!

I agree that "click to donate" sounds as though it means you want to donate money - definitely it should emphasise FREE! I've told several people about it,when I've seen that they weren't clicking, and the usual response was that they'd wondered about it,but weren't quite sure just what it was about.
And the Animal Rescue Site is a great site- it's really quick (even on dial-up!) I have it in my Favourites, and click before I come on Care2,so I don't forget.

What the Hell Hans!! If a person has time to sign a petition or post a comment, then they have time to CLICK TO DONATE!! It is as important as signing a petition. There is no excuse. It doesn't cost you anything!! What are we here for people?? Make our home pages pretty or SAVE & EDUCATE the world from destruction. If there are 9 million people on this site we need to find them and engage their participation some way. I haven't figured it out yet and maybe I never will. But I am going to try!! It takes less time to click to donate than give a person a star or a testimonial!! You should try it Hans. You might feel better!!

I clicked like hell the first 4 weeks...until i saw that 95 % is not for the good cause....i rather work for animal activists than for sponsors of care2!
With all the trafic i generate here in Care2 care2 can donate much much more than by clinking to donate every click that i generate is a click to donate and believe me that are way more than the clicks i can do on the click to donate site.

Over 8 million wonderful people discover, share and take action on Care2 and Care2's The Petition Site. It's the largest online community of people passionate about making a difference.

Opportunities to make a difference on Care2 abound. Explore these fabulous free Care2 features:

* People - Meet amazing people with similar interests.
* Groups - Share, learn and connect with people who share your interests.
* Click to donate - Where else can you save the rainforest or fight breast cancer in one click? I did not find the about us page where they specify the click to donate and other donations....But i know that as soon as i had find out that the click to donate is donating more than 90% to a for profit organisation i had enough... now if only 3000-5000 people click to donate what does that tell us about this system....
If there are 8.000.000 people skip 80% if there are only one million people than 5.000 people would mean that 0,5% is clicking whats wrong with the rest! If you look at the percentage of the entire community it is less than
0,1% so forget that you can make a difference for the good cause...
I rather help the good causes by helping directly without 90% going to a for profit organisation! I would love to see how much the click to donate realy generates for Care2 and for the causes....Maybe we can have that information one more time....And some suggestions on how to improve the click to donate system..i watch more than enough advertising to finance Care2. I have seen days in November when only 2000 people clicked!

Hans you make me laugh so hard!!! 4000 to 10000 clicks YOU generate each day?!?!?!? For click to donate?? And you did all this with 48 recent butterflies. A very impressive claim. Even with the 771 prior butterflies. Then you say you have recieved 'one petition up to 120 times within two days!!!!' What happened to the filter you fought so hard for?? All I am reading from you are rants and accusations!!Not one solid solution!! I agree with Joanne M, you don't make any sense!! You have your right to your opinion Hans. No arguement there!! BUT NOW your accusing Care2 of not supporting a good cause?? WHERE IS YOUR EVIDENCE?!?!?!? 95%?? PROVE IT TO US!! What on Click to Donate is not a good cause Hans?? Please enlighten us!! Show us the way!! Show us the light!! Show us the evil of Clicking to stop global warming!! Post the evidence that Clicking for the rainforest is causing harm!! Give us proof that clicking to save the seals is actually killing them!! Show us the harm that clicking on Save the Oceans is doing!!Saving the big cats & primates!! No good will come of this you say!! I have clicked to help children and pets in need. I can't believe how blind I was to not see the evil in my ways. Stopping violence against women. You mean to say my click is actually keeping them in their place!?!?! And clicking on the cure for breast cancer is actually the cause for cancer?? Wow!! And the daily action click funds terrorism?? With all this evil, YOU still generate all this traffic?!?!? Hans, what is a good cause?? I'm so blinded by click to donate that I've lost my way!! HELP ME FROM THE EVIL OF MY & CARE2's WAYS!!! PLEASE SAVE ME!! Can we have access to your information Hans?? POST YOUR PROOF!!

Actually, this is new info from Hans I didnīt know anything about:

"I would love to see how much the click to donate realy generates for Care2 and for the causes....Maybe we can have that information one more time"

I totally agree! It would be great if Care2 provided that information on a permanent basis and on an easy to find location. Another way to find out would be to write directly to the organisations involved (such as IFAW for the baby seals, etc), asking them how much money they get from the clicks on Care2.

Thanks for that Hans.

Care2 is a great for profit organisation doing great things but in my opinion click to donate is not one of that!
It would be much better if Care2 would directly combine all our efforts for the good causes! Or would make it possible that the members choose what they want to donate to!
They donate 5 or 10 % to organisations many organisations! Click to donate, who is paying for the click? Care2? No the advertising that is showing on your page...
Is the money on the click to donate page going to the good cause or just 10% of that? I have done it for four weeks until i found out how it realy works! Click to donate i understand why only 3000 do that would it be a problem to click each day? No it would not but since i generate thousands of clicks in the entire system i dont see why i should click right here!
Advertising: Care2's goal in collecting personal and demographic information is to provide our members with the most personalized web experience possible and our advertisers with an efficient means to reach the right audience. By knowing about you, Care2 can deliver more relevant content and advertisements (e.g. banner ads), and hence better service, to you.

In delivering targeted online advertisements, Care2 plays the middleman. Advertisers give us an ad and tell us the type of audience they want to reach (e.g. females over 35). Care2 or one of our ad server partners takes and displays the ad to users meeting those criteria. In this process, only Care2 -- not the advertiser can access individuals' account information.

We use third-party advertising companies to serve some of the ads when you visit our web site. These companies may use information (not including your name, address, email or telephone number) about your visits to this and other web sites in order to provide advertisements on this site and other sites about goods and services of interest to you. In the course of serving advertisements on Care2.com, our third-party advertisers may place or recognize a unique "cookie" on your browser. If you would like more information about this practice and to know your choices about not having this information use by these companies, click here. Advertisers may also use "clear gifs" to track advertising page views, but this information is not connected to personal information collected by Care2.

Advertising revenues help keep Care2 services free, and provide revenues for donations for wildlife conservation and other charities.

Maybe they could boost click to donate with more transperency...

These are the partners...
http://www.care2.com/aboutus/partnerships.html

I dont see any statement on how much they donate and to whom!

I can show you a example from the best European donating system by
shopping...they write how much money or what percentage goes to the good cause....on every action not just buying sometimes signing in is generating money! Thats the way i like it!
100% of the money goes to the good causes!
http://www.spendenshop.at/organisationen.php these are the good causes!
And you can choose who should get the money before you take action!
http://www.spendenshop.at/ just in German sorry for that but click on a few shops and you can see how much they donate....

I rather go the direct way of helping! Take the activists that are in jail in Austria did care2 try to make a statement to the worldwide community of animal friends to help them no take a look at the list of sponsors and check how compattible they are with the good causes some of them are in the
Corporate hall of shame...

Everybody can click to donate why do we have only 5000 good people who do this?
Everybody can sign petitions why dont more people sign?
Everybody can note the C2NN Why dont more people note?
How many people read the C2NN? Why dont we see the people watching the news?

Do you think that it would be good if we would see how many members are online? its just one switch and the number of members would be visible!

If i see how many people are very active for a short period of time and than disapear completely i understand that something is wrong...

People should be motivated the stars are great but i have written Randy that he could have my stars for support for my good causes!

COOL IT!

Bjorn Lomborg argues that many of the elaborate and expensive actions now being considered to stop global warming will cost hundreds of billions of dollars, are often based on emotional rather than strictly scientific assumptions, and may very well have little impact on the world's temperature for hundreds of years. Rather than starting with the most radical procedures, Lomborg argues that we should first focus our resources on more immediate concerns, such as fighting malaria and HIV/AIDS and assuring and maintaining a safe, fresh water supply-which can be addressed at a fraction of the cost and save millions of lives within our lifetime. He asks why the debate over climate change has stifled rational dialogue and killed meaningful dissent.

I say click anywhere and everywhere you can as often as you can. Every little bit helps and a little is better than nothing at all. I also intend to do the majority of my Christmas shopping on the Click to Donate sights. I suppose you have a problem with that to. If everyone had your attitude there would probably be no Click to Donates at all.

All the people who i have never seen before after 6 very intensive months and being active, not only on animal causes but also on many other causes have probably just been clicking today and than left to the next click today site! So here are a few more! Enjoy and it does not make a difference how you make a difference and where as long as you do make a difference! Thank you for that! A green star for every day you click all buttons!

Here is the link to even more free donation sites:
http://www.dmoz.org/Society/Philanthropy/Free_Donations/
http://www.oneclickatatime.org/
http://www.sparechangeforchange.org/

A click-to-donate site is a website where users can click a button to generate a donation for a charity or cause. The money for the donation comes from advertisers whose banners are displayed each time a user clicks the button. While not directly contributing (though many sites offer additional ways of support), visitors are making a difference in the sense that, had they not visited, no donation would have been given.

Now whats the difference between clicks on the click to donate site and my clicks? There is no difference......

Care2 is donating anyhow....to very many good causes....

Information on this subject would be great! I would love to see you all click every day on all the 128 click to donate buttons!

Every click in Care2 is a click to donate if that should not be the case than Care2 is cheating..but they are not! They donate very much lets say 5 % of the 6 Millions would mean 300.000 Dollar!

NICHTS FUER UNGUT! Care2 is great! 9.000.000 members making a difference!
They just dont know how...most of the people think they make a difference because they are a member nobody has told them that they have to get active! FRUSTRATION on both sites..active members are frustrated and i cannot immagine that Care2 is not frustrated...more clicks is more income!
http://www.pledgepage.org
Take a look at this pledge page:
6,647 PledgePage sites have generated 28,536,696 hits to raise well over $3,209,441 for good causes around the globe. Thank you.

Now that would be great to have from Care2 would not it?
You have just generated 29500 hits to raise well over 38 Dollar for good causes..thank you..

OK lets remember that CARE2 itself is not a non-profit entity!! It NEVER stated that it was a non-profit entity!! It does not have to disclose how much it donates (Although it would be nice to know). NOT EVERY CLICK GENERATES A DONATION!! As with other sites you have mentioned. ONLY THE 11 CLICKS ON "CLICK TO DONATE" ARE ELIGABLE TO GENERATE A DONATION. Someone has to pay for this FREE site we use. I don't think the non-profit organizations should. That's why the advertising links are here. And there isn't any coercion forcing people to click on the advertising. Now here are the statements from care.

Will I actually help stop global warming?
Yes! When you click the "Click to Help" button you generate revenue to remove a pound of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. Care2 will then make a donation to pay for the removal of 1 lb of carbon from the air. Carbon, and other greenhouse gases, released into the air by power plants and cars contributes to global warming. The Race to Stop Global Warming helps you take a small step to help offset your impact. Care2 offers this free service as part of our mission to make it easy get involved and make a difference

Will I actually protect baby seals?
Yes! When you click the "Click to Help" button you generate revenue to help save innocent baby seals. This money goes directly to the International Fund for Animal Welfare to support its campaign to protect the baby harp seals in Eastern Canada. You can click the "Click to Help" button once per day. And, remember to invite all your friends to come to the site daily to click so that your team of friends maximizes your cumulative impact

Where does the money go?
100% of the donations generated go to Oceana's ocean protection programs. Contributions are funded by sponsors who have agreed to pay to be featured on the Race for the Oceans. 100% of the net revenues are donated to Oceana. if during a period there are no paying sponsors, Care2 has guaranteed to make a donation of at least $1 for every 1000 clicks on the Oceans race. No matter what, every time you click, (up to once per day) you will be generating a donation to support ocean conservation efforts

Will I actually protect oceans?
Yes! You generate a real financial donation to save the oceans when you click the "Click to Help" button. This money goes directly to Oceana's ocean protection programs. You can click the "Click to Help" button once per day. And, remember to invite all your friends to come to the site daily to click so that your team of friends maximizes your cumulative impact.

Where does the money come from to protect baby harp seals?
Our sponsors pay for it. So, please thank our sponsors for their donations by clicking on the Sponsor banners at the bottom of the Race pages and consider buying items from our sponsors. More visits by you to our sponsors' web pages results in happy sponsors who are more likely to continue supporting the Race(s), which means more baby harp seal protection through the Race

Will I actually protect primates?
Yes! You generate revenue to save the primates when you click the "Click to Help" button. This money goes directly to the Jane Goodall Institute's primate protection programs. You can click the "Click to Help" button once per day. And, remember to invite all your friends to come to the site daily to click so that your team of friends maximizes your cumulative impact

Where does the money come from to protect primates?
Our sponsors pay for it. So, please thank our sponsors for their donations by clicking on the Sponsor banners at the bottom of the Race pages and consider buying items from our sponsors. More visits by you to our sponsors' web pages results in happy sponsors who are more likely to continue supporting the Race(s), which means more primate protection through the Race

Will I actually help children in need?
Yes! You generate revenue to help support one of Care2's sponsored children in need when you click the "Click to Help" button. This money goes directly to Children International and provides funding that will help meet the basic physical, emotional and educational needs of Care2's children. Each of Care2's member clicks help generate donations from corporate race sponsors that provide the funding for these programs

Where does the money come from to protect children in need?
Companies pay Care2 to sponsor the Race and Care2 makes a $1 donation for every 1,000 clicks. So, please thank these companies for their sponsorships by clicking on the Sponsor banners at the bottom of the Race pages and consider buying items from our sponsors. More visits by you to our sponsors' web pages results in happy sponsors who are more likely to continue supporting the Race(s), which means more animal protection through the Race

Will I actually help pets in need?
Yes! You generate revenue to help animals in need when you click the "Click to Help" button. This money goes directly to The HSUS' Rural Area Veterinary Services (RAVS) program. You can click the "Click to Help" button once per day. And remember to invite all your friends to come to the site daily to click so that your team of friends maximizes your cumulative impact.

Spaying and neutering is just one part of helping pets in need. Many pets (and their people!) find themselves in need when confronted with certain challenges during the life of the pet. These challenges are:

Commitment - The owner realizes that he or she obtained the animal without a firm understanding or acceptance of the commitment the relationship required.
Behavior Problems - The animal has a behavior problem that the owner is unwilling or unable to resolve.
Renting with Pets - The owner is moving and is unable to find suitable housing that allows pets.
Human Health - A family member has a health problem (for example, an allergy or an infection that weakens the immune system) and the pet's primary caregiver decides to give up the pet or is counseled by a physician to remove the pet from the home.
Through our Pets for Life campaign we are addressing each of these challenges. And helping keep pets and their people together

Where does the money come from to protect pets in need?
Companies pay Care2 to sponsor the Race and Care2 makes a $1 donation for every 1,000 clicks. So, please thank these companies for their sponsorships by clicking on the Sponsor banners at the bottom of the Race pages and consider buying items from our sponsors. More visits by you to our sponsors' web pages results in happy sponsors who are more likely to continue supporting the Race(s), which means more animal protection through the Race.

Where does the money go?
100% of the donations generated go to Amnesty International's programs to Stop Violence Against Women. Their campaign focuses on domestic violence as a human rights issue and on violence against women in armed conflict and post-conflict situations. Amnesty International's on-going work on behalf of women's human rights is an integral part of a worldwide effort to defend human rights and uphold human dignity for all. Contributions are funded by sponsors who have agreed to pay to be featured on the Race to Stop Violence Against Women. 100% of the net revenues are donated to Amnesty. if during a period there are no paying sponsors, Care2 has guaranteed to make a donation of at least $1 for every 1000 clicks on the Race. No matter what, every time you click, (up to once per day) you will be generating a donation to support efforts aimed at stopping violence against women.

Will I actually help to stop violence against women?
Yes! You generate a real financial donation to stop violence against women when you click the "Stop Violence" button. This money goes directly to Amnesty International's campaign to Stop Violence Against Women. You can click the "Stop Violence" button once per day. And, remember to invite all your friends to come to the site daily to click so that your team of friends maximizes your cumulative impact

How am I climbing to prevent breast cancer online?
Breast Cancer Fund specializes in mountain climbs as a way to raise awareness and money for breast cancer prevention. Unfortunately, in real life climbs, only a certain number of people can climb. This virtual climb opens the climb to everyone! Everyone in the world can participate, even if they cannot walk! Just as the Breast Cancer Fund's actual mountain climbs generate money and breast cancer awareness through sponsors and donations, so does this one. Each time you click, sponsors you see on the site pay for your virtual steps up the virtual mountain.

Will I actually help prevent breast cancer?
Yes! Every time you click the Prevent Breast Cancer button and view the sponsors on the next page, you generate revenue for the Breast Cancer Fund's programs to identify and eliminate the environmental causes of the disease. Only by stopping breast cancer at its root causes will we be able to reduce the number of women who suffer from this devastating disease. You can click the button up to once per day. To increase your impact, you should also invite all your friends to come to the site to click the Prevent Breast Cancer button daily

So now it has been officially established that 1000 clicks equals 1 U.S. dollar. It was always there!! It's in the questions section!!

Again Hans, POST YOUR PROOF!! You stated '95% is not for the good cause'!!
WHERE IS YOUR PROOF??? You stated 'I don't believe in Click 2 Donate!!' And yet you are still here!! On an average day 7000 people click to donate. that is $7.00 per tab a day. That is $2555.00 dollars per tab a year. For a combined total of all the tabs of $25550.00 Dollars a year. And you won't support that?!?!?!? If the recipients ie. the actual non-profit entities Amnesty International, The Nature Conservancey, and others are in the dark to this conspiracy that CARE2 has concieved and you have evidence of?? Why haven't you contacted them?? WOULD THEY STILL BE HERE IF SOMETHING WAS AMISS?!?!? Hans give us a straight answer!! There is a saying here in the United States : PUT UP OR SHUT UP!! Post your proof & stop talking in circles. And don't forget to CLICK TO DONATE!!

ah well i will give it a try
I know a person who is very inconsistent with his coments on several groups on Care2 and emails about organisations,care2 and persons.A couple of my friends (5) gave me warnings about this person who shouldn't be trusted.Don't know if this person should be trusted, but i don't like inconsistency...
This person does good things, but should promote himself as the know it all, espessially when your inconsistend! And about the clicks :Every person should know for themselfs if he or she clicks to donate

I agree with Claudia here.
We are all adults here that have a mind and are here to try and make a difference and stand together.
I am here to work with C2,not against it.
As far as friendship goes,it works for me to send an email to me if I send too many actions around,it doesn't motivate me at all to read a comment on this on a newsitem,it makes me want to pack up and leave.
I am here for animals, nature and our future,to improve myself...
I do try to deal with all the horror that is going around, sometimes I have trouble falling a sleep and all I want to do is follow my own heart...that is all I want to say...now I am gonna give my son some attention,he is my future

About Care2 its 5% not 10% sorry for that false information! I could not find the article on the web but this is in the press section of Care2 and i am sure that all information is 100% OK!

Care2 is the largest online progressive network, bringing together socially and environmentally responsible nonprofits, businesses and 9 million members. The Care2 Network empowers people to make a difference with every visit to Care2.com by providing social networking, tips on sustainable living, click-to-donate races, online petitions, activist opportunities, healthy living solutions, eco-shopping and free member services such as email and e-cards. Care2 Connect is the newest feature on Care2.com for building online communities and encouraging people to get involved.

Care2 supports over 80 leading nonprofit organizations such as The Nature Conservancy, Defenders of Wildlife, Oceana, The Humane Society, Amnesty International, Children International, the Jane Goodall Institute and League of Conservation Voters. Care2 provides activist recruiting, online petitions, private label social networks, fundraising, and other web-based services for nonprofits. In addition, Care2 donates 5% of its net website revenue to nonprofits. Care2 was founded in 1998 and is a privately held, profitable company.

The company, which relies on ad sales and sponsorships to generate revenue, grew to $5.9 million last year and has been profitable for the past three years.

Care2 is great! For all who want to make a difference
I had never expected that Youtube, Yahoo or Google would be a way to fight causes but the invitation in my mailbox this morning shows that it realy is Claudi For whales has sent me the invitation to watch and take action here:
http://www.youtube.com/user/fred100446

Care2 has a great strategey and i am sure the revenue will be more than 50 Mio within the next three years. 5 % of that is a real lot of money for the good causes!

Thank you Marisa!
Realy good question! I guess if only 5000 out of 9.000.000 people use this to make a difference the other 99,94% make a difference in some other way!
It would be interesting for the members if they could see the impact...
Nobody seems to care about the click today i mean 99,94 Marisa that is practically 100% !
Since Care2 is all about making a difference the 5% that are being donated are not important at all. If people want to donate they donate if they want to sign a petition they will if people want to send e cards and save the rainforest they will... Its more important to have a great working system! To connect people to fight causes!
Take the whales! How many organisations are defending whales?
How do they sucseed? The dont! Why because they dont work together!
Care2 could make much more difference and could motivate many more members to be active if they would see that Care2 is making a difference!
The IWC conference in Chile has been business as usual and so will the next meeting on Madeira be....The killing will not stop if we dont stop it!
The impact of Care2? The community impact http://www.care2.com/actionalerts/aa_list.html?type=success the largest number is 40.709
Average from all these 18000.....that should be the number that would be willing to click to donate! But Care2 will know best how many people could click to donate!
I think it would be great if we would see more active members but everyone is free to do what he or she likes to do to make a difference!
We should be glad that people are willing to make a difference!
Too many good causes can cause that the people dont know what to do....

Its more easy to choose in a restaurant if you can choose from three meals than from hundreds of meals..same in here...Care2 is not one community but thousands of small communities! And the synergie is not at work yet!
I am sure that green washing companies like Nestle and Toyota will spend millions in Care2! Interesting that these companies are also in the list that Lyn from Australia has posted in the news about the corporate hall of shame! http://www.care2.com/news/member/832344328/794194
Read the comments, do you think that members might have a problem with advertising from companies that they boycott!
Care2 can only reach a revenue of more than 50 Millions by accepting all advertising and not just real green advertising!
Maybe this is one of the reasons why only 40.709 out of more than 9.000.000 are active...
It would be great to see more active people fighting the same causes!
Click by click no matter where!

Some good points there, Giovanni. Itīs true that thereīs so many different causes, so many petitions, so many news to note, so many groups, so many contacts and their causes, etc etc etc etc etc.... This is in fact something that overwhelms me OFTEN, and Iīve commented this in the past, as I get rather lost, going from one link to another, more petitions from my personal email, other non-Care2 pages, and a very long etc of different things that prevent you from concentrating fully on one. Thereīs a reason for the saying "Jack of all trades, master of none". This is almost how I feel in Care2 (and outside in other pages). My mind seems to fragment and cannot fully concentrate on one issue and give it full attention. Itīs just difficult trying to do everything, and feeling that you never get there.

As far as companies from the Hall of Shame advertising here... I remember a McDonald's advert appearing on Care2 a few months back, and boy did it disappear quickly!!!!!!!!! :-D

As usual we get a non answer. Care2's 5% or 10% contribution is SEPERATE from the proceeds of Click to Donate. If you used Click to Donate, you'll see it has a counter. If 9 million people used Click to Donate, that would be $9000.00 Dollars a day per tab!! Or $90000.00 a day with a yearly potential of $32,850,000.00 DOLLARS!! So Giovanni, it's not only a question of the underling theme of non-participation of which you have a good theory about, but why we ourselves are not promoting the Click to Donate tabs?? No matter why your here, YOU should Click to Donate!! Something is better than nothing. And more is better than less, Even if the money comes from Nestle or Toyota. Without that money, CARE2 would not be here. So my question to you Giovanni, after all that thought & energy that you put into your response,,,,,,,, DID YOU CLICK TO DONATE TODAY???

I have just clicked to donate today to see who are the sponsors and how it works! The action of the day is the Care2 redesign! Obviously both Obama and Al Gore are realy spending money in Care2! But the stats speak the truth 5000-7000 visitors for the click to donate...why would you click to donate if you donate anyhow to the causes that you think need your support?

tīs true that thereīs so many different causes, so many petitions, so many news to note, so many groups, so many contacts and their causes, etc etc etc etc etc.... This is in fact something that overwhelms me OFTEN, and Iīve commented this in the past, as I get rather lost, going from one link to another, the click to donate is just setup to create clicks not to help the sponsors and not to help the causes!

If you want to help the sponsors give them people who are interested in the right subjects! Ask the people for permission and let the sponsors pay for sending information! From the 5000 visitors less than 5% will klick on the sponsorinformation ! I would not know why anyone would want to klick to donate! And 88% cannot be wrong! Forget it! people donate directly! If they want!

I am glad that i have tried the click to donate sothat i understand why the people dont click to donate! The daily action had just 1000 active people!
Seems that people love dolce far niente! Doing nothing is realy good!

I dont see how this should be great for sponsors? And thus it does not work! Obviously the 99.94 % think the same way!
Toyota wants to sell cars! Why would they be interested to sponsor donations from people who will never ever buy a toyota? Give us the possibility to choose both the cause and the sponsor and i bet you will see the click to donate....People who are in the market for products are looking for information on the evoked set...now think about click to donate with sponsoring from brands and products that you are interested in?

You can choose the information that you want and you donate to the causes that you like most! That would work much better than the current system!

If you are thinking about buying a new digital camera or Mobile phone what information do you want about a toyota prius? Or about pet food?

Wow Hans whatever you have must be catching. Giovanni is posting a non-answer too. Sounds an awful lot like you. Just out of curiousity Hans, since you mentioned your site in a prior post. How much does Fred Van Olphen contribute to your site?? See, I can give a non-answer too. It must be catching.....
