I found this article confusing. Boys starting developing later than 11 1/2 years is defined as late onset puberty? When I was a kid, I noticed boys hitting puberty at 14-16. I realize there may be signs earlier, but still, I don't get this article.

I also cannot understand how parents can allow their kids to eat so much. Unfortunately, because of luxury and other world perspectives, doing sports is no more regarded as important as it should be. Children need to move and to run. Only in that way they can live a normal and healthy childhood. Obese children unfortunately just have disadvantages ( like a later onset of puberty or bronchial asthma). I am not judging them, but I am talking from point of view of the biological health of a normal human.

Appears to me from the evidence on the site that it's got everything to do with MILK - especially in the Western World where milk yields are pushed to the limits including periods when cows are producing more oestrogen. Read what the Mongolians do - they have their heads screwed on right. Anyway humans should not be drinking milk after they have been weaned (especially the milk of a totally different species!). There's a lot of sense here - keep dairy down to a minimum.

You honestly want to know what I think it is? Now a days kids are just not active enough. There's the computer, video games etc,..They grab a bag of chips and pop or whatever...munch all day and sit. When I was a kid I was outside ALL THE TIME. I was either riding bike, playing all kinds of racquet sports or even just kicking a ball around...and this was after school. But kids just sit,sit and sit these days. I think video games are honestly the worst offenders. Kids as well as adults get so hooked on them and that's it. More outdoor activity among kids ( as well as adults) could solve a lot of the obesiity epidemic now a days.

So as we all get older, it's obesity that causes later onset of puberty?
My son began growing a moustache at age 11, I cause he inherited that from me.

Great idea all that outdoors-going, if there was anything left to go to.

Noted and commented on the site: "And at the other end of the hormonal cycle, obesity is now one of the PRIMARY causes of impotence for post-pubescent men. It is no surprise that the toxified and greed-driven Big Dairy industry and Big Agrabiz in general are going to be exposed more and more as culpable in this and many other health travesties by scientists of conscience. It has been a long, long time since I ate meat or had dairy. My health has improved drastically as the result." To my fellow Care2 readers and activists - TRY GOING VEGAN - YOU'LL BE SO GLAD YOU DID - AND SO WILL BE THE ANIMALS WHOSE LIVES YOU HELP TO SAVE.

Parents that allow this to happen to their children need to have them taken away. This is slow premeditate murder and abuse. When this child reaches his pre-teens he will be the object of every bully in school, ergo the abuse, no friends, girlfriends or the ability to participate in outside activities.

I've seen parents like this , when the child cries as a baby they start to cry food is crammed in their mouths so they expect it all the time. When he reaches 600lbs and can't bathe, clean or get up hopefully, this parent will be the one to take on the burden of his care.
