Native American Red Corn sought to create a new visual of his culture. The result is his video, Smiling Indians. The video is four minutes long, and its smiles range from a self-conscious grin to a full-on belly laugh.

Ohhhhhhh . . . Thank you for posting this, dear Eva!

Yes, we needed to be reminded of the beauty.

(And so good that it was documented by Ryan Red Corn, who wanted to "...provide a full picture of his culture.")

Isn't this a really great article?? I stopped what I was doing and went to the computer as I listened to the feature on NPR, I loved it! He made so many historical points about social culture and smiling, I just had to see the video! Glad everyone enjoyed a bit of American art and history :)

Great to show positives once in a while, when so much news from Native communities is so bad.

Nothing more beautiful than a smile and nothing more infectous than laughter. This wonderful clip is but a reminder that both are something we all need to do more of and charhish as much as we do life itself..for they are something that we should never let others take from us....not the Corporates, not the Tea Baggers, not the GOP Neocons in general... nor the hate, fear, greed and personal power over others that they try to breed and spread daily. We can't let them take these from us..and this clip shows us why...our smiles and our laughter 'out' our souls for all to see. No, we can not let them take those from any of us.

I sure be smiling now...what a great piece of video art. Thanks for finding and sharing it Rooibos.

oh, forgot one more comment: if I were Ryan Red Corn I'd send in this video to a major toothpaste manufacturer offering it for a commercial.. Those great Native Americans badly need to get WEALTHY ! if they turn it down, try the dentists committee ^^ ;-)

Of couse Indians can smile! The idea that American Indians are "savages" is an old & outdated
misconception and an description of them.
