An Alternative Budget Exists

To help our economy we need to start helping people. At least stop hurting them! We cannot cut our way to prosperity. Growth and support of each other is the only solution. Europe provides the example that austerity in a depressed economy doesn't work.

This budget that focuses on supporting working people and growing the economy WILL NOT get anywhere near the media spotlight that is given to on Paul Ryan's proposal, which focuses on making more cuts to working people while growing the profits for the very wealthy and big corporations.

Please help make the video go viral!

Let's not forget that President Obama has a budget:

Though it will be completely ignored by those on the right that claim Obama has presented no budget, he has and it offers cuts and a chance for prosperity, though lately prosperity too has become a dirty word.
That is unless it is more prosperity for the very wealthy and of course the corporations.

BACK TO WORK - This country needs jobs, we must rebuild our failing infrastructure, a can that has been kicked down the road for too many years. It's time to build a new grid system, the one we have is very old and is not efficient.

Yep, we have many things we need to focus on, if we do that and put people to work, the budget will fix itself. People will have money, more spendable income with an increased minimum wage. When people have jobs they neither want nor need government assistance.

We need to have viable jobs for all people oin order to create the demand that it the REAL fix for the economy.

the economy is a self fulfilling prophecy,if people believe it's getting better, and they act like it is...
eventually it will get better.
when I was in az for a week, the restaurants and malls were jammed with people..
you couldn't see any signs of an economic crisis...~SHRUG~

So right Kit! This sounds like a great (and reasonable) budget. One thing for sure - it beats Paul Ryan's 'Kill the underdogs' plan.

Rep.Ellison: " I believe those folks are Americans who understand their country needs them and they got to step up and do a little more"- words we've heard before and see falling into deaf ears. "Moral documents", a foreign vocabulary to Rethuglicons.
But I do hope this will get attention, PLENTY attention at least, even if it may never see the floor.
Thx Brian!
Note that there are TWO petitions out for this.

Just 2 of many petitions that need signing - please do sign. Then write and call your Congress people, all calls must be recorded.

A question: I am confused as Kit's article on this says their budget plan is for 2014 -but the current struggle is for a budget for 2013 that is not even here yet ? My misunderstanding ?

Thanks Kit for pointing out that Obama has submitted a budget. Some people like to pretend he hasn't because it has been blocked or mired in politics. And true, besides not being able to afford our current unemployment (nor should we accept the suffering it causes) we have real needs such as infrastructure, education, and green energy.

And thanks for that information, Angelika.

Noted and thanks Kit & Bryan. In all the KXL and wolves, I've not read about Mr. Obama's proposed budget. Couldn't watch the vid. very slow land-line. I respect and admire the commentator's informed opinions to this post. If there is a written commentary, I would like to read it. Thank you..

I have come to the point where I honestly think the republicans could care less what happens to the rest of the country. When their chief budget guy comes out and says he wants to hurt Americans by taking away their health care, you have to wonder what the Koch brothers have put in their Kool Aid. Whatever it is, they all have to go. I watched C-SPAN for around 15 minutes last night. It is an outrage - the smug smiles, the gamesmanship. Despicable.

I hope too that this video can go viral. Obama has had a budget there every year and the Rs just ignore it and claim he doesn't have one. Just recently, it was discovered that the R leadership didn't tell the rest in the House and Senate that Obama had submitted a budget. You can see his budget on the page. Gees, the Rs are spewing so much hate for the rest of us. How in the world did people who hate the government and hate the American people ever garner enough votes to get into office? Oh, yes, it was the gerrymandering, voter suppression, and cheating. Remember that next election.

Keith Ellison represents south Minneapolis and he's exactly right. THIS is what is needed to get our economy as hot as a blast furnace and these are the policies and tools used by every President right up to Obama. For republicans it was a great idea for 40 years, until President Obama. They really ARE willing to tank the American economy if it means denying what will surely be hailed as a triumph by the Democratic party, rightly so. This is the path to follow. Austerity in these conditions sends nations into depression/recession where Europe is headed. Republicans are willing to drag us down there too, for the sake of political "gain". Though there will be none, they will have their feet held to the fire over this in the next two elections, yet have not the sense to get on board what will put America back to work. Fools and poltroons. Sigh...

Let's drive a stake through the heart and cut off the head of Uncle Miltie's austerity economic vampire once and for all. I remember when America was a great leader in every facet. True enough the rest of the world is catching up. That being said it is time for America to put complacency and mediocrity behind it if it wants to compete.

Hi Lin, here is the article you can read that the video is from and is posted in Kit B.'s news.

Angelika, i'm not sure but i suppose that they're proposing this for the 2014 budget so they can build support and maybe just have it out there in the conversation longer.

Angelica, (lol not often are there 2 Angelickas in the same thread) it sure is obvious that Repubs are more than willing to hurt the economy for political gain. I don't have much faith at all in the mainstream Dem party, but it would send a great message to flush the Repubs!

Gene, so true, just look at Europe... or history, or common sense.

Thanks all for comments.

Yes Kit, you're absolutely right!!! This country must be addressing our worn out infrastructure and power grid, etc. Our entire country needs boosting & resurfacing & we have people needing jobs now =PERFECT COMBINATION! Other countries will far surpass us on these and many other fronts, if we don't smarten up & act now. There's much that needs doing, let's hope America will rise to the challenges, regardless of the constant party bickering!~

Say NO to austerity. Britain and other power brokers (whose banks and wars rule the world) have also shoved this shite down the peoples throats. No way should big business get out of what they created. No way should those suffering from an illness and dependent on Medicare, Social Security and other necessary and civilized programs should suffer. Nooo Freaking Way!

When governments speak of austerity and institute measures to bring it about, it applies to the working class only. Globalism is not working, bring the jobs home. Even cheap imports are not affordable if you don't have an income.
Call for legislation to force corporations based here to produce here ie. if you want to sell it here, make it here.

Signed all and shared on FB. Thanks for posting.

The Baggers and Ayn Rand Ryanites will not be happy until they have taken everything for us and left us to starve or succumb to illness in the streets or under bridges so they can thin out the herd. Austerity is the WORST thing they could possibly do to this nation right now and do it they will because how better to bring down a government they despise and the very people (you know, all us takers et al) who pay their salaries/perks. What I would like to know is.....when they have succeeded in destroying our government and destituting the public....what are they going to put in place? I already have the answer and deep down all of you do too. Oh, how we will enjoy our slavery and our Fascist Police State indeed! NOT.

Thanks, Brian. Yes, this video needs to be spread far and wide, and each person must ask their members of Congress to sign on to the "Back to Work Budget". This was initiated by the Congressional Progressive Caucus, but all their members hadn't signed on yet. There are more members of this CPC than there are Tea Party members in the House....we can get this done! Signed all petitions...thanks for posting....have signed others I've been receiving in private mailings as well.

excellent comments here - Michael, Your comment says how I feel as well "this could be solved, if we had true leaders who would do their jobs" and I am disgusted beyond describable.
Robert, I also signed your petition - just started it appears, so we need everyone to sign, and share it too!

Please KNOW that Paul Ryan's budget is EVIL. Even Veterans Today, a non-biased news media states this fact. I will provide a link for all to read.

Do they really think the Ryan budget may aid in gaining momentum for 2016? The absurdity in letting our great country fall apart boggles my mind. Our representatives used to stand for the good of the country and the people. How can we go on like this? We need to create difficulties for the greedy, not the other way around. Haven't we seen enough homes lost in so many ways imaginable? Have we not seen our roda, bridges and tunnels crumbling before our eyes? Do we not have compassion for those who cannot lift themselves from poverty, the homeless, and the lower middle class getting lower? In retirement (if I ever get there), I plan on spending time with Food and Water Watch. Beware the quality and quantity of food and water. The simplest things do not come easily anymore. We've got to use all our might to battle the Koch brothers and all toxic people and product. What the politicians plan means something but not everything. Continue to fight from the grassroots on up. I see the accomplishments and rewards everyday! I still have hope for the USA>>>

The Ryan Budget has, of course, passed in the House.
It is NOT expected to pass in the Senate.
