I really don't think any of them are weird and I'd love to get a post-graduate degree in Peace Studies, Buddism and Folklore.

Agreed, Elainna - these degrees don't strike me as weird at at all.
What strikes me as weird is the choice of photo for this post. The kind of "skill" demonstrated by this model requires no education whatsoever.

How are these weird? I was expecting intergalactic ballroom dancing, and you give me wood studies? Most of these sounded really interesting, especially the oriental medicine

I didn't think these fields of study were all that weird. They seemed like interesting things to study to me. The picture accompanying the post-now that is weird!

My Masters is and applied masters. Most applied masters are very specific, some people in fact seem to think they are a little quirky but I think having all the information to actual perform a tasks is a very good masters indeed. It is the theoretical masters that are interesting but nearly useless. Thank you, Nancy B., intersting article.

I'm confused by the picture, what "major" that was listed is being shown? It doesn't go with the article and causes more confusion than enlightenment here. Whoever said a "picture is worth a thousand words" wasn't referring to this incident!

The weirdest thing about this article aren't the listed majors but, as has already been mentioned, the incongruent photo. I was expecting, "Self-Buttocks Massage" Major as one of the listings. But, thanks for the listing of very cool study courses.

to this you can add my masters degree, which is in literature and religion. it may sound odd, but it was demanding, to say the least, and has stood me in good stead for many years. i believe it is no longer available, which is a shame.

All of these are legitimate courses of study. That many people do not comprehend their value is a sign of the "Dumbing Down of America" of which so much has been written and said. It IS still true that people are afraid of, and ridicule, that which they do not understand. I give you the individuals who call these programs weird.

personally, I don't see how any of them are "weird" Perhaps not the first thing a child would thnk of (in a when I grow up way) But not strange or outlandish at all.
A wierd master degree would be somthing like..... accupunture for dogs. ( and I'm sure there are some who wouldn't find that weird either.)

As a naturalist, I find them to be quite interesting and I would encourage any of my children to explore these degrees and apply them not only to their lives but to every life they touch.

These are all very interesting. I think I'd like to work in Archives. It would be quiet. Plus, you get your degree in British Columbia!

Why is Science Writing:being called a weird, master's degree, its a very old degree and most of the great names have use a writer to get their scientific publications right.
Its not a easy degree has you have to have very good Enlish with some scientific background.

Like other cannot see what the photo has to do with this!
