Glad to see this.. Since I am originally from the Golden Gate city, and have participated in protests.. anti-war... in the 90's... I also used to volunteer for a few different native organizations there... San Francisco has the largest population of Urban Native Americans in the US.. I believe... good to see them getting invovled

Er, pardon my ignorance, but, does this mean that the AIM will now stand behind Indian people sending rockets into the towns and cities of America and destroying schools and kindergartens which just might luckily be empty because of fear?

Will the AIM target innocent people who are civilians going about their own business? Will they demand that the imported people who are in America be destroyed? Will they demand that all investments be turned over to them to be used against the American people?

Will they then blame the American people because they fought back to protect themselves OR will they stand united to demand that BOTH sides, not just Israel will totally cease this stupid murder of each other? Will they demand that Iran stop fuelling the hatred between these people?

Will they say its okay to bomb pilgrims who are lining up to go to a place that is sacred to them as the Hamas did? Or maybe its okay to kill these stupid Christians who just wanted to go to Bethlehem and just happened to be living in Gaza.

OR is this just a one sided demand? Just wondering!

My apologies if you think this is inappropriate, but I sometimes wonder who is agitating for what! Stop the murder by all means but stop BOTH sides, not just one. Look what happened last time. Israel was stopped from "their aggression" but Hamas etc were just allowed to rearm and carry on their murder of innocent children and people. I hope the priorities are correct for this push and not just one sided.

Didn't notice any demo by the AIM when Hamas sent over 8000 rockets into Israeli towns, deliberately targeting civilians. Talk about double standards.

And, Robert and Stan, I didn't notice any demonstrations when Israel built fences, set up armed guards at the crossings, unilaterally imposed an embargo that included food, medicine, and fuel, or when they cut off electricity to Gaza. Nor have I seen/heard outrage that, in spite of agreements, Israel continues to build permanent settlements on the disputed land. I don't approve of Hamas rockets, but if Israel won't keep it's HUMANITARIAN agreements, I don't know what else can be done! I'm also greatly disturbed by the horrific disproportion... last I heard, you could multiply lost Israli lives by nearly 100 and still not equal the number of dead Palistinians. I also have to wonder why Israel won't allow ANY press into Gaza.. what don't they want the rest of us to know?? Back to the original story - Good for AIM. They know what happens when large groups of people are herded into small spaces, then denied access to food and medicine.

Sadly Kate you belong to a group of people who seem incapapable of understanding the principle of " cause and effect."
Sure there are armed guards at border crossings and intermittent blockades of goods entering Gaza. This is the " effect. " The " cause is indiscriminate rocket attacks on Israeli civilians over the past 8 years, kidnapping of Israeli soldiers, numerous suicide bombers who target teen-agers and old people and thousands of random acts of violence by Hamas terrorists.
What would you do if you or your family had to live with these deadly threats on a daily basis? Invite the perpetrators in for coffee and a cake?
The so-called theory of proportionality is a total nonsense.
If you had a homicidal maniac armed with a knife trying to break into your home, would you expect the 911 dispatcher to send just one cop so they could meet on equal terms?
You might like to study the words of a female Muslim protestor at a pro-Palestinian rally yesterday in Ft. Lauderdale: "Go back to the oven. You need a big oven that's what you need."
Not one of the rally organisers was prepared to condemn that statement.

I'm proud of AIM for doing the right thing toward human rights. Native Americans understand so well what the Palestinians are going through, and this is their show of support. After all, Israel is a "Mini-Me" ... a miniature of the US in how they are a settler state doing to the Palestinians what the American Puritans did to the Indians by pushing them off their homeland and causing genocide against the people.

Israel: Mini-Me?

Just heard there has been an unprovoked rocket attack from Lebanon on civilians in northern Israel.
Could someone please tell me the date and venue of the protest rally so I can attend, hopefully accompanied by my friends in the A.I.M.

BREAKING NEWS: Lebanon has fired rockets at Israel, and Israel retaliated by bombing southern Lebanon.

Why in the world would Lebanon get involved? Whether it is Hizbollah or Palestinians in Lebanon, what would possess them to attack poor, little, helpless Israel?

Here's why:

Lebanon rescued Cynthia McKinney, former US Representative and the 2008 Green Party nominee for President of the US, along with a boatload of supplies and other people on board after it was RAMMED THREE TIMES by an Israeli patrol boat. McKinney was on her way to provide medical and other supplies to Gaza.

But that was only a recent concern of Lebanon. The bad blood between Israel and Lebanon has just regurgitated for the Lebanese as they recall past atrocities to their own country by Israel. Knowing that Israel is breaking International Laws by breaking the Geneva Convention rules with war crimes, Lebanon sees Israel as a threat to the well-being of humanity. I don't condone Lebanon's rocket attacks, just as I don't condone Hamas' attacks. However, the crimes of Israel are disproportionate in comparison and must be stopped. Lebanon is showing their disapproval and disgust with Israel.

It was predictable that other middle east countries would get involved and might attack Israel over their genocidal attack on Gaza. We are seeing this played out before our eyes.

I find it interesting that countries in the middle east have little conflict with bordering countries outside of the middle east. It seems to me that Israelis want more land, other countries' resources (oil), and control over these countries. There's is something arrogant, selfish and lazy in their approach to wanting and taking what is not theirs, rather than exploring alternative solutions for energy independence AND making friends with its neighbors.

Israel seems to be its own worst enemy.

I'm no genius, but I do understand cause and effect. Israel would love nothing better than to keep us from understanding their historical background and skeletons. The middle east hasn't forgotten, and the world is fast learning...thanks to the Internet.

Peace is the only answer.

A following note on Cynthia McKinney...

I'm sure Bush and Congress do not approve of McKinney coming to the rescue of Palestinians who are trapped like ducks in a shooting gallery with food, water and medical supplies. I'm sure the US and Israel expects everyone to mind our own business and wait until many more lives are dead and destroyed as they take their sweet time working out a truce.

McKinney reminds me so much of an African American hero, Harriet Tubman, who escaped slavery and rescued other slaves from captivity. She risked her life and broke US laws that were later abolished and found to be crimes against humanity.

Years from now - if history isn't rewritten as a lie - McKinney will go down in history as a giant of a hero in these times. If she runs for president in 2012, she will have my vote.

Shame on the US and Israel.
