HERE IS THE ARTICLE:

A New Jersey tribe has filed a federal lawsuit against the state to reclaim its ancestral land.

Filed by the Sand Hill Band of Lenape and Cherokee Indians, the lawsuit demands that the state recognize the tribe and pay $1 trillion in damages, to be paid in 1-ounce gold coins.

The newspaper noted that about 50,000 people in New Jersey claimed some form of American Indian ancestry on the 2000 census.

Although there are no federally recognized tribes based in the Garden State, the state legislature has passed resolutions acknowledging three groups -- the Nanti coke-Lenni Lenape, whose tribal office is in Cumberland County; the Powhatan-Renape of Burlington County; and the Ramapough Lenape, headquartered in Mahwah.

The resolutions, however, do not provide the groups with special services or tax breaks.

As for the $1 trillion the tribe is seeking, one tribal member said it is to show how serious the tribe is in resolving the matter.

"It's a financial move that says that we are serious," said Ronald Holloway, 45.
Although not a lawyer, Holloway said he plans to litigate the case himself.

I doubt they are going to get 1 trillion dollars in gold -but hey start high -that is a good way- Lord knows it is a owed amount and then some for nothing can replace what was taken -Thanx Kat

Somehow,I doubt they expect to get such a high amount.I agree with Faith. It's more likely meant to show that, though you can't place a monetary value upon land that has been stolen from your ancestors...your heritage....your right...your freedom...everything seems to have a price these days...so why not aim for the stars? You just might reach them.

Thanks Kat! In cases filed in the court they always ask for a higher amount then they work down for a settlement. My ex was a lawyer.

People aren't taight in schools about the history of the US and the Indians. We even broke the treaty penned by William Penn.I truly hope this passes.I get mad when African Americans yell fowl. But they don't understand they aren't the only victims of our country.Prejudices happened long before the slaves were thought of.It is time we all grew up and acted like true humans. We need to understand all races and backgrounds and try to right the wrongs.WADO Kat!

I wish them luck with this lawsuit. Also, I understand why African Americans cry fowl, just as I understand why all disenfranchised people cry for their rights: jews, poor, gays, physically challenged and others.

Interesting they are demanding gold, considering the Annunaki are returning to collect their tribute and we will have to start mining all over again.Nibiru's atmosphere is mended with gold dust, and the world has set all the gold in bank vaults. Makes no difference as the "Beam me up Scotty" will be the extractor. Want to check, Google: Zecharia Sitchin, Planet X, Nibiru.

I hope they get at least the recognition and the services. I can not see them handing over the moola but boy, that would be a kick in the ass!

Now, how serious can you really be if a non-lawyer is planning to litigate the case?

Sounds like a lot of hot air and wishful thinking.

Being a New Jersey resident who truly does sympathize and support the rights of Native Americans. I am concerned of the costs involved and who ultimately pays for it. I can barely afford to live hear now. Seems the Federal Government is really the culprit in what took place in the past. If they are seeking acknowledgement from the New Jersey government, good luck with that, they don't care about any of us. All my best...

The Native Americans were in the US several thousand years before white man. They know who their tribes and there are records of their existence. The continuing refusal of the US government to recognise many many tribes is insulting and racist. Even if all that is received is recognition that will be a start.
