Perhaps the more who request this by sending in several petitons the better chance we have of getting this. I also write to them at the Contact Us.....at the bottom of the page. Write them frequently, the squeeky wheel, well you know how that goes. It is for a darn good reason, these people suffer, if we can at all ease the pain in the least bit with a butterfly program I'm all for it.

Henrietta.......It is way beyond high time while others
got what they wanted more than they needed!!

I can't wait for the day we have an American indian as V.P.
OR as president!!!!!!!
Afterall, this is there land & we've invaded, borrowed then took it over
as our own.. And, all the while appeased the daylights out of another
group & ignored the needs of the Native American indian.

also, I think it need to be a point that the need is on the reservations as when they state was alotted disaster relief funds none of it went there and it's weird:http://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/president-obama-signs-oklahoma-disaster-declaration but guess what? Caddo county wasn't included [!!!!!!!!???????] we were one of the hardest hit counties in the state, personally I was without electricity [along with many others] for 1 days [I know I couldn't count but my neighbor clued me in] I thinbk Comanche county only got included because of the variance in individuals [and Ft Sill]

As Songbird mentioned, she suggested it in Feedback & Suggestions. As I stated there, while this is definitely a worthy cause, I very much doubt that Care2 is going to add another click after just adding the one for Haiti. While I think it is wonderful and worthy of the effort to try to add a click to donate for Native Americans, I think we must concentrate at the same time on increasing clicks to generate more of an incentive for advertising sponsors to hop on board. Anyone wanting to assist me in my efforts to increase clicking please contact me.

While I fully agree that the American Indian has gotten the short end of the stick for that last 300 or so years and they deserve all the help they can get, I wonder if this is the best method to give that help. By adding more causes the impact of the causes that are currently supported are reduced. There are only so many dollars to go around. Finding out about Indian non-profits and giving personnel donations or donating your time, if possible, may have a greater impact.

I found that at least 2 of the Care2 petitions were closed and one or more required a sign up at Facebook. Something I was avoiding but will do so to sign this petition. Now let's find out what's up with the Care2 South Dakota Petition. Thanks we all know only to well how much this is needed. I wondered how much worse things were with the number of donations off because people had to split donations between the Rez and giving to Haiti. Now it's gonna be donations to Chile for that horror of an earth quake.

Although I agree Sue L. that more people should be clicking overall to keep the sponsors I do not feel it is an unwise thing to have a Native American button and it should not be in lieu just because Haiti has one. After all the Care2 site where the founders claim and physical address is California which use to be all native land, you and I both live on the soil that use to be held by the First People....now they are all relegated to land that at the time no one wanted.....so why can we not at least, push for a click button for the American Indians. I don't care how many other buttons are on there for other reasons.....they should have a click to donate button. It isn't the only way to help them, it will just be one more way.....one more awareness button for those who will click on it to remember that the Indians still exist.
It isn't easy to be invisible, my son on his way to a wedding when we lived in Florida, he was running a bit late, or as we say, on Indian time, however as the wedding was within walking distance I told him to come as quickly as possible. As it was a native wedding he was in his regalia and while he was walking over a young boy stopped on his bicycle and asked my son why was he dressed that way. My son said it's a wedding so I'm in regalia to Honor the event. The kid said, "wow, I didnt' know Indians existed anymore!" You see, if this one person didn't know Indians exist, then there are many more.....so if the buttons at least bring attention to the fact Indians are alive today in 2010 and didn't die out with the cowboy and indian times, then that will also help.

And, why not a button for N/A??

As you wrote........N/A indian are almost looked upon as foreigners in their own country!!!!
Why don't we have N/A this, that & anything else to really remember them......
Be reminded of their presence!!!
And.....Don't jump all over me for this comment: Blacks have gotten recognition, social help,
political power that I've never heard of an N/A getting or having!
Why is that????

As I see it the two poorest groups & most neglect are the people of the Appalacian
Mountains states & the Native American indian! And, you know why?.......Both seemingly
have/had enough dignity to sit on the sidelines & watch the handouts be given to
those who demanded, made the most noise & got whatever for that reason.
All of the above is strictly an opinion as guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution
of 1776!

Plant & protect trees for life......................

On line #138 of the Petition you will notice that I signed the Petition. If you also notice, I agreed to have all of my 8482 butterfly credits that I have as of this day 2/28/2010 donated to the, "Help South Dakota Reservations" Project and I want to know just how do I go about making sure that those credits do in fact go towards this Project and are given to my wishes?
The American Government is willing to help every frickin Country in the World accept it's own. Do they really believe that perhaps they are storing up brownie points in the hopes that should the U.S.A. ever need assistance that One of these Countries would EVER come to OUR aid?!? Do they really?
It is time that this Government stands up and takes care of it's OWN people and it is time that THIS GOVERNMENT KEEPS the many promises that for all too long have all remained broken not only to the South Dakota Reservation & Indians but to ALL the Reservations & Indians EVERYWHERE! IT is time, past time that this Government does everthing that it can do to assist that Indian Reservation and Indians everywhere anyway that it can whether it be with Education, Jobs, Tax-cuts, Housing, Health-Care, Food, Clothes, Land - - -with whatever they need and stop making EMPTY PROMISES that they do not intend to keep.
A wise Indian once made this comment:
The Red Man giveth His Word and He KEEPETH it where as the White Man, he Giveth His Word - creates Treaties, Documents and paperwork ....and still he breaketh his word.

How sad! Is this the Government of the U.S.A. that We stand behind that would take care of other Countries and not Protect / Defend and take Care of it's OWN PEOPLE?

Native American Indians are our Forefathers of wisdom and everything they have brought us is so unconditionally with Love ~ for everything they have come back to encounter the ill affects of government tactics has been a deployment of character.

I have placed my signature on this petition. God willing, our government (America) will soon wake up and take responsibility. It is so sad that Native American people have gone through so much trouble for so long. I believe that if we stand together as a people and a nation, that something can be accomplished. I am saddened, that the same problems happening in the Continental United States and Alaska, are also affecting the Hawaiian people. It happens when these citizens are beaten and down trodden and have no supporters to back them up. I am grateful that we the members of Care2 are taking the initiatve and being responsible.

Any Thanks all who have sign. Lots of hugs for I'm going to go pul mine too.

I called the 24 Hour Customer Service Number and the man that answered said that the Native Americans in each county can go to their Health and Human Services and they will get their electric bills paid for them. I tried to get a number for the Health & Human Services but I didn't know which county. The man said all counties have their own services and the Native American can go there to apply. However I am going to post the links above on Facebook so that hopefully we can get something going to help.

Wonderful idea! Noted and signed, with thanks! I see this one: http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/need-a-click-to-donate-button-for-native-americans is now closed. Thanks to all who put these petitions together. Natives are absolutely owed this--it's ridiculously overdue. I hope Care2 will come through like they have with the Haiti click-to-donate.

I would certainly use my butterflies to help those that shouldn't need it but do. I believe that the Native Americans can be helped by care2.

I have heard the Afro-Americans say that they are treated as second class citizens and for many this is true. However, they are treated fairly and generously compared to the Native Americans!

The Native American indian have been totally
forgotten for one simply reason......They never
raised the hell blacks raised. I think maybe
they should. But, I suspect they had/have too
much self respect & dignity to act like raging
maniacs. They will make it because they have
ramined a quiet dignified people.

I agree B.M. and Gillian. If anyone is treated as a second class citizen it's the Native Americans. Some people cry about how they are mistreated but they walk around in name brand clothes, have a warm house and plenty of food. Let those that cry about it walk in the shoes of the people that live on the reservations with almost nothing. They are freezing and hungry.

An Mi I hope Care2 comes through also. It only took them a second to post a donate button for Haiti and probably Chile will be next. When will our people in need be included??

Oh my gosh...is there only 274 signatures on this petition???? I have posted on Facebook and sent emails and this is it????

I wish there were drop off points in each state where we could leave clothes, food, heaters, etc. for shipment to the reservations.

We need much more than 274 signatures

Many of us use other sites to elicit support for petitions--this could be posted on all of them. Anne Rice even started a social network of her own and I often see people who belong post the same things they've posted on facebook, myspace, twitter, reddit, etc. Firefox has an easy add on feature that makes it simple to post to a great many sites once you belong to them. These are simple things we can do in a very short time while listening to music and sticking pins in our Glenn Beck dolls.

I agree wholeheartedly Julie. I believe Care2 has been made aware of this a while back but as of yet I see no button. How quick some causes are to receive buttons and not others. :( Thanks Deborah for the add on info for Firefox. I had no idea what an add on was.

The White Man should be paying us rent,to live on our homeland, and much more then the table scraps he throws our way to fight over. Our oral teachings says he/she came from underneath the ocean,Which brings me back to Darwin theory...Where the fish then grew arms and legs and started creeping upon the land..and then started walking up-right.Hmmm interesting theory, that might explain speaking with the fork tongue.NA are taught to show respect and humility, but look where it got us..God knows they deserve more..

We owe them big time.We stold the land. I have always wished I was very rich so I could help them by bringing in electricty, running water good schools, factories so the men would have something to do besides get drunk, and last but not least ,find some way to give them their dignity back

Native Americans were ill-treated everywhere, even those who befriended the settlers who encroached on their territory. Where I live, the native people - the Cowlitz Tribe - were cheated out of even a reservation. They stayed at peace when other tribes in the region went to war with the settlers, even assisting in the construction of defensive works, in return for a promise that they would get to keep a piece of their land. What they actually got was - NOTHING! Check out their story here: http://www.cowlitz.org/dispossessed.html
