Sending 5 eCards won't heal the hurt of the past. But it will show you care. And for a Native American enjoying a hot, healthy holiday meal during our Operation Turkey Dinner, it will mean a sweet, delicious dessert... and a big smile!

With so many Native Elders counting on us for Operation Turkey Dinner, won't you please take a couple of minutes right now to send 5 Free eCards now knowing that for every 5 eCards you send, Native Elders will get a free pumpkin pie?

Please send as many Free eCards to your friends and family as you can, and encourage them to share them as well. Every 5 you send means another pumpkin pie... and another Native Elder with a big smile this holiday season!

TODAY IS THE DEADLINE!!!

I received the following message this morning:

This is the very last day to help bring a free pumpkin pie to Native Elders during the holidays!

Please let me be frank with you. I need a LOT of pies! I don't need five pies, or 500. I need over 5,000 pumpkin pies for Operation Turkey Dinner this holiday season. And with money tight this year, I'm afraid we may not have the funds we need.

But I'm not asking you for money or to bake a pie. All I'm asking you to do is send 5 eCards to your friends and family, and Native Elders will get a FREE pumpkin pie during our Operation Turkey Dinner!

But today is the very last day this special offer will be in effect. And right now, we don't have all the pies we need!

With so many Native Elders counting on us for Operation Turkey Dinner, won't you please take a couple of minutes right now to send 5 Free eCards now — knowing that for every 5 eCards you send, Native Elders will get a free pumpkin pie?

Thanks for posting this, Kat!

The Spirit of giving goes on. I spend "Thanksgiving" day with the homeless that I volunteer for on the banks of the Ohio river here in Pittsburgh. I cook the entire feast, Turkey, stuffing, homemade cranberries, sweetpotatoepie, and especially from scratch.....pumpkin pie with whip cream. We have a fire and everyone fills a plate and one of the people says a prayer [at their request] then we eat. It is odd how some people can't stand to look at the homeless let alone eat with them. It reminds me of the saying," There but by the grace of God go I". Kat you got the request and I will think of you and all my new friends here at Care 2 on Thanksgiving. I also take blankets, tarps ,hoodies, backkpacks, and most of all a pack of new socks for each. This year I organized a sock drive and will do as long as we have homeless.I guess what we are seeing here is a group of people who are full of LOVE and know what to do with it. Ah.....yes....the Warriors of the Rainbow

Yvette's point about the eggs might well be a good point. Sometimes it can be hard to know what is right to do - so many different factors to consider. Perhaps we can all ask the supplier and the charity to make their pies from real free-range cruelty-free eggs in future, if they don't already.

much better than having to kill a turkey! Would be nice if it was cage free, etc eggs, but it's a good idea. Native Americans used to be self sufficient, doing the environment no harm- then our government sent them off to live on land a snake couldn't survive in. The least we can give them is a slice of the American Way of life pie! We have so many holidays, why not Native American Appreciation day? A real Thanksgiving, with NO stores open..just a time to really reflect on what our country(land) has cost the Indians. And gratitude that we immigrants have for their shareing with us (by hook or crook) their beautifull country.

Thanks Kat and Just C. This is a wonderful idea. Unfortunately, because I can't afford internet service at hoime I often am unable to get on my computer until late at night or in the early morning hours when I can get somewhere that has free wireless. So I got the message too late. I have sent out some ecards earlier in the week though so I'm hoping they will help.

I found out only the 23rd, but as it's 9 am in France, maybe it's still the 22nd in North America. Anyway, the 5 e-mails have been sent.

Thanks to Kat & Just C for spreading the word about a wonderful initiative I wouldn't have known about otherwise.

Last winter I sent my collection of 5 'Groovy Girl' dolls to Pineridge for the Leonard Peltier Christmas gift drive for children. Only one still had the manufacturer's label attached, & as they say that only new toys are accepted, I do hope they were given out anyway, & that there are 5 little girls on Pineridge, each happy with her Groovy Girl !

As long as you can get to this page:
http://www.nrcprograms.org/site/Ecard?ecard_id=1642&autologin=true

KEEP SENDING THE CARDS!

I wrote to NRC yesterday and advised them that we have a campaign going on here (and asked them to look at this story).

So, assume that the campaign is still in force as long as you can get to the action page.

KEEP SENDING THE CARDS!

Already done. I found it so fitting to help our Native friends at Thanksgiving since they gave us this holiday, this tradition, the food, and their friendship. Turns out, we weren't very good friends to them. Maybe now, we can start to make up for the harm we have caused.
