FROM INDIANNEWS.COM:

LaMere encourages Native to stand with Obama

Washington, DC (ICC)

Stating that "Barack Obama has stood with us and it is now time that we stand with him" Frank LaMere of the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska urged Native voters this week to come out in record numbers on Tuesday "to restore the country and the First Nations, and to acknowledge that we must give voice to the generations to come."

LaMere, the Chairman of the Native American Caucus of the Democratic National Committee who guided the Native American delegation at the national convention, is optimistic about the expected turnout and impact of the Indian vote. "Indian country has responded to the Democratic message of change and the need for urgency. From Maine to California and from Washington to Florida the Native focus on the political process is unprecedented.

Well, I know for certain the self-serving Republican party has never supported the natives of this land. I just hope Senator Obama is as true to his word as I want to think he is. Thanks for this, Kat.

This is so cool! Thanks for sharing Kat Mosi! We will be voting for Obama. I think he holds the most hope for Native Americans (Obama calls us the First Americans...I love that! ). He also has a whole team of Native Americans in his campaign that are taking polls on who the Native Americans are voting for. He also wants to appoint a Native American to run the BIA! Imagine that! Go Black Eagle!!!!

Like I have said before "John McCain has never known what it is like to be anything but a white man and a filthy rich one to boot." He will never care about anyone but white rich people. Vote Obama !!!!

Thanks Kat! :)

This is wonderful! With Barack Obama at the helm, perhaps at last the native American people can 'get out from under' the oppression they have endured from previous governments for a couple of centuries!

I am a Canadian and a poll done here says that if Canadians could vote in the American election, 80% of them would vote for Barack Obama!

Yeah! I hope Obama will follow through and give the Native Americans what they so richly deserve, more voice in our government. And let them run the BLM; NOBODY could do it better....thanks, Kat.
