The supplier diversity team at Wal-Mart understands the value of small minority and women owned businesses. Maintaining a diverse supplier base puts dollars back into local communities

Oh ok !!!

Forget the email I just sent you.

This is specifically called "false charity," The most common of these strategies today is to embrace equality as diversity -- and put us out of a job. That way they can call us racists if we complain.

Walmart has hurt a lot of people, as consumers, workers, as foreign factory workers that are virtually enslaved, and as the former American factory workers that they helped put out of work.

What they are doing here is adapting to the rising American awareness of the Native plight, and using it to create a smoke-screen. They most common of these tactics is diversity, where diversity invariably means putting American workers out of work.

Obama' Interent "outreach" program is similar; that is also a strategy to fool "the people" into thinking that he is a "people's president." He has proven that he is not by appointing traditional capitalists and military "hawks" to his staff. Again you became a tool of the very people who are destroying us.

Also, all the Natives I know tell me consistantly that I, myself, should not be fooled by believing all those who speak on behalf of Natives, even those who are technically Native themselves.

Not all are honest, especially in business and politics!!

In the case of Walmart, this strategy is called "false charity," and Lewis Mumford wrote a lot about this in his masterpiece Technics and Civilization.

As most of my Care2 friends know by know, I rarely give a personal opinion when I post news. I do my best to remain objective. This is an exception to that.

I feel strongly (in a negative way) about this company, and I am wondering just what they are up to!

It is good to keep the bad guys closer.

I am not a huge fan of Wal-Mart for all the obvious and oft repeated reasons. But as a different perspective, I live on income that is below poverty level, I live rurally, Wal-Mart is the closest affordable source for my needs, sometimes it is the necessary evil. As regards the question here, the fact that their PR has been so bad, deservedly, just possibly there are those within the WM organization that would be supporting a change in policy, one can hope. And, just possibly the vast negative posting has had an effect. The beginnings of a turn around? Fingers crossed.

I agree with Raymond M.Burton. The old saying is keep your friends close but your enemies closer. Noted Thanks Kat.

Blatantly manipulative tactics from some of the most notorious slavedrivers of the corporate world. Insulting.

Very astute and profound observation, John (and that is not sarcasm). Just another huge corporation making an oportunistic ploy. Typical.

I've heard a lot of negative stuff about Wal-Mart and I've never been to USA. It is good to see people keeping wary eyes on their activities.

I believe there are people in desperate situations who must shop there, but they sell home theaters. Every dollar we give them feeds the monster that's eating America and seriously, the human race.
They are not the sole cause of the world's ails but they are an ever-increasing part of it and no false charity undoes any of the damage they do. "American Indian owned businesses" are being run into the ground by WalMart along with everything else they touch.
