You said it right, Debbie. Some of the most HORRENDOUS crimes have been committed in the name of Christianity, and in particular, the Catholic Church. I hope they sue this diocese for all it has.

And you're right...it IS a very disgusting and offensive post! I am disgusted and deeply offended for human beings to treat other human beings this way...Indian or not! If we ignore events such as this, then they are more likely to happen again. Dark things grow in dark places. I believe the healthy way to deal with this type of situation is to face it head-on and expose its ugly reality in order to stop it. I may be wrong, but that's the way I feel about it.

The Catholic church does indeed have an extensive, notorious dark past. It's a shame such a mentality still exists in these so-called enlightened times. You'd think the diocese would want to work a bit harder to erase such an image.

If he was still alive they need to take him or them out in public and horse whip the crap out of them!!!! These childerns minds are messed up for the rest of there life trust me. They will never trust any man again or even a woman whole hearted for they believe that being hurt is love how heartbreaking. I would like to break there jaw for them. If anyone has ever been there then they know exacully how they feel and I do, I trust no one 100 % ever. Thanks Kat

Catholic Church just LOVES to abuse the helpless! When they control State power, watch out! Hey, since they have a direct pipeline to their conception of "God", nothing they do can be wrong, according to them. Yes, controlling by force and brainwashing and then abusing, is what they have been good at for thousands of years. It is no use trying to cover up the abominable history. This has nothing to do with people's private beliefs; and EVERYTHING to do with controlling POWER.

it is very sad, that this all took so long! i read about this kind of horror for native kids from the christian churches also from canada ( 50.000 kids) from australia, number unknown, from germany number unknown, from africa number unknown, the christian churches and especially the catholic church, but not just them, killed and abused millions of children, worldwide!!! in the name of god or in the name of love millions of sexually and otherwise abused or murdered children, i don't understand why the heads of these churches and the priests and nuns don't go sick everytime they pass a mirror!!!

I have heard many personal accounts of the abuse that happened in these residential schools and it just makes my heart weep. How these people who did such cruel acts could look themselves in the face and sleep sound at night is beyond me. But then perhaps they never did. No animal is as cruel to another of it's own kind as the human being is to its own.

Religion has corrupted, murdered and abused millions of children over the years. Power hungry, egotistical head of these religious foundations have used children as their personal banks for no other reason than that they could hide behind their churches and get away with it. There is a special place in hell for these sickos, and they all will answer to a higher power one day.

BMutinyThemIDefy. I couldn't have said it better. It is time for religion to go the way of the dinosaur. It doesn't teach rational thought because then where would their power be over the people? I have a friend with two young children who serve as alter girl/boy and since the debacles of child abuse in the Church, she does not allow them to change in back with the Priest as was custom. I asked her why did she continue to belong to an organization (because that is what churches are..money making organizations, "" L.Ron Hubbard.) where she had to protect"The way to make a million dollars is to start a religion." her children against 'the powers that be' within that organization? She didn't have an answer and continues to send them off to Church. I just don't get this "faith" thing at all. Stand up! Don't be sheeple" Question question question and never ever allow another person to tell you how to think nor believe, and protect the young until they can stand up for themselves.
