We need to stop the intolerance between our spiritualities and cultures. There will be no peace until this happens. We all worship the same God. We just do it in our own way. There is not a superior religion. All Religions are equal. You don't see your children as a group you see them as individuals. God also see us this way too. It is your personal relation with God that is important Not the way a group of people worship him. I did not submit this story to put bad light on a perticular religion I am neither Hindu or Christian. I just believe the only way that we would have peace in this world is to start tolerating each others Spirituality and Cultures. Life is to precious a thing to be wasting on what religion is right and what religion is not. We need to come together and work towards making the world a better place for our children to live in.

You have the right to believe what I believe and to worship as I worship. Can't ask for more religious tolerance than that can you?

As a Hindu, I abhor any kind of violence against humanity perperated in the name of religion. I strongly condemn and regret the attacks against Christians and their places of worship. Culturally, Hindus accepts all religions as one. Why do we swim upstream against our very nature of acceptance?

People involved in such activites are not Hindus. Hindus I know respect all religious paths, and even celebrate other religious/spiritual holidays. I also recently read an article on Hindu extremists who 'converted' tribals back to Hinduism from Christianity. I think with all the missionaries in India 'forcing' people to convert, there is bound to be backlash. But, rather than through violence there must be another way.

I appreciate your comment Jennifer for it has removed the blinkers from my mind. I was under the impression that all Hindus are tolerant of religions but truth be told, you are right. I can only conclude that , there can be only one blatant fact.....that we all are slaves to our subscribed beliefs, for our minds were conditioned even before we realised consciousness.

Our actions, irrespective of religion, race, nor gender, are solely based upon our mind conditioning, for we do not know evil or anger nor selfishness or cruelty during birth. Only humans teach their own speciies evil.

Our No. 1 ENEMY is own egos..

Only someone who doesn't know the doctrines of the different religions can have the naive idea that they are all equal. I find it insulting that religions requirering the mutilation of little girls private parts, the murder of people who change their faith etc. should be reagrded the same as my faith.

Though it's slightly off topic- I am curious if Carl is referring to Female Genital Mutilation. Just today I was reading about this and though a majority of people who perform that are from Muslim countries, many are not Muslim. For example, in Kenya many are Christians and they also do this. It spans throughout the middle east and African countries, through cultural, ethnic and spiritual traditions.

I am well aware that the barbaric tradition is followed by people claiming to have many different religions.
Remeber that people are quite capabable of violating the teachings of the faiths the claim to follow
(just look at many people calling themselves Christian in the US).

I don't know about the details of the local "traditional" religions.

AFAIK there is no reference to female genital mutilation in the bible (new testament)

In Islamic tradition, there is a ruling by the "profet" Mohammed, where female genital mutilation is specifically allowed as long as "too much" isn't cut off. This makes it God given law which we humans have no right to change.
