The movement discussed in the petition below is now begun with 350.org on a tour to convince people, and especially college students we need to do the math and realize we cannot burn all the fossil fuel left in the ground without raising the earth's temperature above what we can handle.

The goal is to get colleges to begin a divestment movement that will end our reliance on fossil fuels forever.

Already two colleges have joined the movement.

Do you notice they go to all the places that don't need this education? Seattle, Portland, SF....where are these efforts in rural areas, "Red" states, etc....in places were people are ignorant about this issue? Sure, it's easy to go to Berkeley and sit around and talk about this all day. I really do not think this is going to accomplish anything until folks in this movement find the courage to take this out of their geographic comfort zones.

I see your point, however

The goal here is to get a divestment movement going among college students -- so, in this case, they kinda do need to go where students are receptive to the idea - because the goal is to get students to put pressure on their colleges to DIVEST --

A lot of the places they are going to DO know about the problem already, but they don't know exactly what to do about it -- this is a movement to bring all these people together - to organize them to do something that can work.
