A leaked study examining genetically-modified corn reveals that the lab-made alternative to organic crops contains a startling level of toxic chemicals.

An anti-GMO website has posted the results of an education-based consulting company’s comparison of corn types, and the results reveal that genetically modified foods may be more hazardous than once thought.

The study, the 2012 Corn Comparison Report by Profit Pro, was published recently on the website for Moms Across America March to Label GMOs, a group that says they wish to “raise awareness and support Moms with solutions to eat GMO Free as we demand GMO labeling locally and nationally simultaneously.” They are plotting nationwide protests scheduled for later this year.

The report, writes the website’s Zen Honeycutt, was provided by a representative for De Dell Seed Company, an Ontario-based farm that’s touted as being Canadian only non-GMO corn seed company.

“The claims that ‘There is no difference between GMO corn and NON Gmo corn’ are false,” says Honeycutt, who adds she was “floored” after reading the study.

According to the analysis, GMO corn tested by Profit Pro contains a number of elements absent from traditional cord, including chlorides, formaldehyde and glyphosate. While those elements don’t appear naturally in corn, they were present in GMO samples to the tune of 60 ppm, 200pm and 13 ppm, respectively.

Honecutt says that the United States Environmental Protection Agency (FDA) mandates that the level of glyphosate in American drinking water not exceed 0.7 ppm and adds that organ damage in some animals has been linked to glyphosate exposure exceeding 0.1 ppm.

“Glyphosate is a strong organic phosphate chelator that immobilizes positively charged minerals such as manganese, cobalt, iron, zinc [and] copper,” Dr. Don Huber attested during a separate GMO study recently released, adding that those elements “are essential for normal physiological functions in soils, plants and animals.”

“Glyphosate draws out the vital nutrients of living things and GMO corn is covered with it,” adds Honeycutt, who notes that the nutritional benefits rampant in natural corn are almost entirely removed from lab-made seeds: in the samples used during the study, non-GMO corn is alleged to have 437-times the amount of calcium in genetically modified versions, and 56- and 7-times the level of magnesium and manganese, respectively.

These studies come on the heels of a recent decision on Capitol Hill to approve an annual agriculture appropriations bill, even though a provision within the act contained a rider that frees GMO corporations such as the multi-billion-dollar Monsanto Company from liability. The so-called “Monsanto Protection Act,” written by a lawmaker that has lobbied for the agra-giant, says biotech companies won’t need federal approval to test and plant GMO-crops, even if health risks are unknown.

“The provision would strip federal courts of the authority to halt the sale and planting of an illegal, potentially hazardous GE crop while the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) assesses those potential hazards,” reads a letter to the House of Representatives that was delivered to Congress last month with the signatures of dozens of food businesses and retailers, as well as interest groups and agencies representing family farmers. “Further, it would compel USDA to allow continued planting of that same crop upon request, even if in the course of its assessment the Department finds that it poses previously unrecognized risks.”

Interesting details to add to the ongoing debate.

This is really revolting to me. We are ingesting this and feeding it to uor children with no knoiwledge of whats in it! This has to be stopped we need labeling to be put into law!
Thank you so much Ray, the battle goes on.

Thanks Ray. Anything GMO should be banned and classified as toxic.

Scary! All GMO food should be forbidden.

Noted. Thanks, Ray. I'm also wondering if the high fructose corn syrup that's in so many products is made with the GMO corn....I'm assuming it must be....

So why the hell are these products being forced upon the populations of the world. Our governments are rubbish and protect only the major corporations.

And the FDA tells us there is no difference. I don't trust the FDA. I believe they are influenced by Monsanto.

information about the toxicity of herbicides and GMO plants has been available for over 30 years but when you have a lot of money it seems you can suppress and override lots of horrors... don't these people realize what they are doing will also destroy them and their children??? How can they justify getting up in the morning? Why have we allowed this? The information has been there for anyone who cared to look. In the mid 1940's a book was written about the chenical companies that supported Hitler called "the devil's chemists" Hitler gets blamed for the atrocities but not the companies that made it all possible. Not only were they never held accountable but they expanded expodentially and look at what they are getting away with. When i told a holocaust surviver i know that Hitler really (the forces behind him) won he was horrified but when he thought about it he agreed...

Increasing rates of illnesses seldom heard of 30 years ago are attributable to the chemicals we ingest daily. Now we are going to grow them!

Glyphosphate is the active ingredient in Monsanto's 'Round-Up' herbicide, and Monsanto genetically-modified crops, such as corn, to be resistant to its Round-Up, so that the fields could be sprayed with it to kill the weeds around the crops. Predictably, this spraying has resulted in selecting out weeds that have, or have developed a resistance to glyphosphate, too (ya gotta love Mother Nature!), so that now, more herbicide spraying is needed on those crops, and, of course, the excess runs off into our water.

I keep thinking of that line from the Jurassic Park movies: "Just because you can, doesn't mean that you should", in relation to applied science.

I now avoid any food products with corn- or soy-derived ingredients, because I figure they're probably GMO-based.

Please stop referring to it as 'an alternative to organic crops'. Corn can be (usually is) grown conventionally with chemical fertilisers, not organically. So you can have non-GMO corn that is not organic.

This sort of reporting just confuses people. BTW, I am opposed to GM food!

I must call "Bull shit." for four basic reasons. 1) If you read the leaked part and add up the numbers given, you will find that many of those that should add up to 100% do not. 2) Even Moms Across America are pulling back. From their blog, where this started, "More Info on 2012 Corn Comparison Report" 4/12/2012; "Keep in mind this is a report NOT a scientific peer reviewed study and I do not have any other information other than what is on the blog.". That is not a resounding endorsement. 3) From GM WATCH on April 19, 2013, "..we examined it and consulted with scientists and farmers....
Our Comments
The first point to emphasize is that this is not a controlled scientific study, but an analysis commission by farmers.... The analysis was carried out by a company answerable only to those framers. There is no information given in the report on aspects that would be present in a scientific study, such as corn varieties analyzed, growing and storage conditions, and how the measurements were done. However..., if verified by future experiments and supported by more information, it would be alarming....this type of analysis is normally done on soil.... We wrote ProfitPro and ask for more information but for the time being they do not wish to comment. At the moment we don't have enough information to draw conclusions from the report."
so a couple of things. This non-scientific study was bought and paid for and if it was in favor of GMOs it would be called a PR lie, so why not now. As there is no list of corn varieties analyzed there is no actual proof that any of them were actually GMO. Growing conditions and storage conditions are not specified so there is no proof that any or all of the finding are not the result contaminated water, soil, fertilizer or storage. Even GM WATCH wants more information, verification and replicable results from scientific studies before sounding the alarm. ProfitPro will not comment other than to say it did not authorize the release of the study and more research is in the works, It should also be noted that other than offering 'business solutions' ProfitPro is better known for Manure Master a profitable line of Microbial based liquid and dry products to over come manure, dairy farm, problems along with probiotic feed additive and markets a whole line of MicroNutrient fertilizers for increased crproductionion. To me it just appears to be a study done to profit ProfitPro by selling farmers on their product lines.
In short how about more Proof and less baseless fear mongering.
