Schools in the UK used biometric technology to gather the fingerprints of over 800,000 pupils between 2012 and 2013, a watchdog has found. In 31 percent of schools, children were roped into giving their fingerprints without parental consent.

Hope this is getting coverage on main media, so people are widely aware

I am having a lot of trouble understanding why children would be fingerprinted. But regardless, to do this without parental consent is in essence saying the parents have no parental rights over their children and there should be a major uproar over this one. I do hope the parents and the people of the UK rise up and stop this invasion of privacy.

What is the world coming to?

Can not understand why people are upset if you are innocent in future and not a criminal no problem fantastic if they are in the system and crooks and murderers are caught earlier and more important faste
i would not have minded and willingly have given my consent.
Things are hyped up out of proportion Yes out of all those children some will fall by the wayside and in UK will get help sooner

We have not heard about this in the media as there would probably be an uproar but then neither did we hear that if your child asks another where he comes from or says he is black or such a comment as this even if he is 6 yrs old he goes on a rascist register now which most schools seem to have now
UK is fast becoming a nanny state and if the ag gag law comes in there will be no freedom of speech either

Noted. Thanks, Ray. I agree that there should've definitely been parental consent. I would be furious if it were my child. Here is in States, I recall programs several years ago when my kids were school-aged, that would fingerprint your children and give you the case they ever went missing. But, parents had to take their children, then kept the only copy themselves.

For what Reason? In case they would be in harm's way?
Thank you Ray
