With a wild population of fewer than 7,000, the Sumatran Orangutan (Pongo abelii) may be the first Great Ape to become extinct. Once widespread throughout the forests of Asia, orangutans are now confined to just two islands, Sumatra and Borneo. TO BUYTRES

Clicking at the greatergood website is a great way to help for free, even if you can't buy a tree to help orangutans. You can also click to donate here at Care2. There are 11 causes you can support with a daily click here at Care2, although, sadly, only about 8,000 people do so each day. Come on Care2 members! We can do better than that!!!

Done, and the page added to bookmarks. The orangutans live in dire circumstances, since their habitat is almost totally destroyed for palm oil productions. Can't the governments see the consequences they are causing to endemic fauna? No, they only have dollar bills f.licking in front of their eyes. Money, money ,money... What have we left, if all our rainforests and tropical ans sub-tropical forests are hacked down? No lungs of earth, and the greenhouse gases make the planet even hotter than it is today, and the global warming only gathers momentum, when we should do everything to slow it down. All w can now do is to write and hope for the best, but I am not sure...
