From the article:

According to the Tampa Tribune on Thursday, Taco Fusion, a restaurant in South Tampa, Florida who was carrying "exotic"meat tacos, including gazelle and camel, will no longer be offering lion meat.

The dish wasn't for the faint of heart when it comes to your taste buds or your budget -- A pound of the meat costs about $220, so just one taco would take a $35 bite out of your wallet.

"Nothing like eating a predator to make you feel like a predator, I guess," one customer offered.

The restaurant, which has only been open since February, started serving the lion tacos about four weeks ago.

The manager at Taco Fusion says that even he is surprised over the positive reaction from customers over the exotic meats they have on their menu, including the lion.

But not all of the customers at Taco Fusion think offering lion is good idea.

Becky Holbrook, a Taco Fusion customer said, "I don't think they should be selling that. We don't need that to eat. We have enough good stuff to eat without going after lions and bears and all the other animals that they intend to sell tacos."

The people at Big Cat Rescue, who are in the business of saving the lives of lions say, the restaurant is exploiting the king of the beasts. Lions, while not endangered, are vulnerable due to hunting and environment changes.

If a customer didn’t want lion, he or she could pick from other exotic meats on the menu: bison, shark, ostrich, gator, gazelle, rabbit, duck, camel and kangaroo.

Even through all of the good reviews, receiving significant backlash on social media and from animal activists prompted Taco Fusion to no longer will offer the taco made with lion meat.

Taco Fusion posted the following note on its website:

“Thank you all for the feedback regarding the lion meat promotion at Taco Fusion. Some of you were supportive, some of you were angry. We listened to everyone and decided to no longer carry lion. ... The lion meat is sold out and we do not plan to carry it again. Thank you all for your feedback.”
