Around 150 Chinese drugstores in Chengdu announced on Thursday that they would stop selling products containing bear bile powder, giving a boost to animal rights activists in China's long-running debate over the extraction of bile from live bears.

Thankfully they are finally realizing how painful this is for the bear. They also understand there is no medical benefit and that there are herbal preparations that would do the same thing. Hopefully more and more of the Chinese people will protest this cruel practice.

Many thanks to Animal Asia, the protest by Chinese animal activists and Jill Robinson for making this happen. A huge effort has gone into this great result. We all need to keep up the pressure up to achieve a final shut down in China.

This is FANTASTIC! Finally some Chinese are coming to their senses...but so much more still needs to be done to ban Bear bile 4 good and finally set free all the poor suffering bears. Many thanks to the younger generation and Chinese celebs who are really the voice behind this and other animal causes too!
